Let's have some fun with the 2020 MINI Cooper S for todays review!
    FULL DISCLOSURE-
I approached the Dilawri Group and asked if I could produce videos of their vehicles for my channel. They liked my honesty and structure of my reviews. I have created this video for my channel and the dealership is sharing them on their social media platforms too. They have no creative control and do not edit these videos. I create, edit and produce these videos exactly how I create, edit and produce my other reviews from the manufacturers.

I've owned a 2011 Mini Cooper S Hardtop for 8 years. I have about 65,000 miles on it.
Pros: Yes, it's fun to drive; peppy and per its reputation go kart like handling. Shifts nicely. Very good gas mileage. Comfortable (I'm 5'8") in the front seats. I use the back seats perhaps one week a year so for my purposes they're adequate.
Cons: Big one; things are always breaking and it's really expensive to repair. I dread the sound of when an alert comes up that there's a problem. How much is a battery for a normal car? $125-$175? In the Mini it's $325. Tonight driving home I got an alert on the dash and sure enough one of the headlights is out. I know it'll be a forture. I also own a 1999 Isuzu Amigo with about 134,000 miles on it. I've spent easily twice as much money in repairs on the Mini as I have on the Amigo with just less than half as many miles on it.
Bottom line as to whether I'd buy another one? Only if they had a Hyundai like warranty on it, like 10 years/ 100,000 miles, and bumper to bumper. Instead they gave 3 years/ 50,000 miles which is ridiculous for a car this unreliable. Mini would never be able to afford giving a worthwhile warranty. Next car I'm going Asian, probably a Hyundai Veloster N.

Thank you for mentioning the (smooth) stop-n-go traffic behavior of the dual-clutch transmission. Most reviewers only blast the car hard for 0-60 giggles, and they overlook the realities of daily life...such as traffic crawl. A juddery 6-speed DSG in VW/Audi products has made me leery of DSGs altogether. Maybe the Mini DSG unit is the game changer.

The Mini Cooper Exterior and Interior last a long time compare to cheap imports with technology. Plus the Mini Cooper doesn’t change their platform and discontinue their cars where you can’t find parts anymore like other car manufacturers. That’s why Mini Cooper sells. If it’s not broke don’t fix it.

Matty T I agree. I tried to spec a manual transmission S for 2020, but could not do it on mini.ca website. Also, my concern is on the durability and dependability of the dual clutch, especially after the nightmare with the Ford Focus and Fiesta units. Plus, based on my 2014 Cooper ( with the base 3 cylinder turbo and automatic), Mini reliability is really terrible, despite being a wonderful car to drive. I’m really not sure what to do next ... !

    I owned 2016 Countryman S for 4 years.
Excellent car, good on fuel and great for long road trips, managed to average around 44 mpg on 5 hour trip.
Only real issues compared to other competitors, in my opinion, would be the over priced maintenance, and the fact that if you listen to BMW’s advice on how to maintain the vehicle, you’re more likely to have the car break after 100,000 kilometres.
And end up paying 10 grand to replace your transmission, or even up to 20,000 if your engine fails.
Word of advice, if you buy a used MINI, BMW will tell you lot of BS, like not to change transmission fluids. Or my personal favourite, oil can be changed after every 12,000 km. Bullshit!!
Use your common sense and respect your vehicles please. 90% of the time they’ll be dead reliable!!

@@yoskull9295 a british light bulb vs a german light bulb. If its the same plans just different part it will just change quality... and it known that the 2015 are way better made...
You are a purist and you dont like the fact that bmw make them now but the only thibg that changed is reliability. If you hate it because of that too bad for you but its still a mini but better...

Awful car, one of the worst cars I have ever driven, aside from the Fiat 500X. I have been driving one for two weeks, I do a 100 mile round trip to work each day. Its like driving a fish tank with a fisher price steering wheel. Ok the 2 litre is pokey and it handles well, but the driving position is uncomfortable, the steering wheel can only be adjusted up and down. The door speaker is right where your knee rests, the centre console has an edge that digs into the other leg. What is that handbrake thing? The dash is just shite, hard to read the speedo and rev counter, the fuel computer is in litres/ 100km so is useless unless you have a calculator on hand. You can't read what the switch gear does and its just too far away for practicality. That big round thing with the screen is just ugly and the connectivity is awful and for android: only bluetooth connectivity (Before July 2020). Boot is tiny. I'm sure there's more. Just awful. Avoid like the plague.

Oh, sounds terrible, like somebody farting into a biscuit tin. The fake carbon fibre dash is cheap and tacky. The car is all quirk and no substance.

Literally the only review I’ve heard that complains about the exhaust of this car......
