We are going to see more of these crack on bridges, although I love the development that is going on all over Jamaica; I don't like these concrete bridges. I would prefer to see steel girder, with corrugated metal as the foundation to apply the road surface. This is a win win situation, because this combination would be stronger lighter, and more able to withstand Earthquake! I would like a Structural Engineer to explain why all these concrete bridges in Jamaica???

Some still say this administration not doing anything..You think smart people would be investing in a country, where the government isn't doing, something right?

Expansion Joints are not crack but the little crack on the side walk is nothing to worry about.

Yes you are right about the mix zoning, certain sections have to be set aside for specific purposes

Cracks are normal in concrete, rebars is what give concrete tensile strength, also the gap in roadway is for earthquake reason

Boy, I don't know, but the drone offerings not doing it for me. What happened to the drive around? Is it that gas prices are too high?

They need to green up the community, though. The esthetic is bad. That seems to be a problem in Jamaica. I am seeing new buildings being erected and the roads and surroundings areas not taken care of. The esthetics are not pleasing at all.

During the early 70's the land extending from the Tropical Battery plant and ATL Automotive towards the 6 miles by-pass and bridge together with those opposite side of the Mandela Highway were sugar plantation for the Caymanas estate. Until they were abandoned in the upper 70's throughout the 80's, 90's all were taken over by swamp via the canals that were used as irrigation. Alongside the Plantation Heights Hills is the Duhaney River (Brackish Water) springs which was also called Plantation Heights River until its flow from the six miles intersection to the sea. That river has an abundance of aquatic life that is synonymous to the seas and equally with freshwater rivers. On the other areas extending from the Tropical Battery is the Ferry River (Freshwater) which is significant in the role of Caymanas sugar estate irrigation and fisheries supply. As a youth then I was very fascinated by the area and took pride in enjoying the experience of developing my fishing skills, swimming skills and mountain hiking skills around these areas. It's good to see the present developments on that side of the land hoping that on the other side of the Mandela Highland those lands too will be utilized especially as fish farms seeing the tremendous potential for such in the future.
