I love rereading! I have several Nora Roberts books that I like to reread and some Susan Mallery. But my favorite rereads are the Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs.

  • @LiteratureScienceAlliance

I love re-reading! Actually just re-read the mask of mirrors and it was such a cozy comfort read 🥰

I do reread, and one of my favorites to reread in December is Hogfather. I just ordered it in hardback (the same edition you have.) I am looking forward to getting it and reading it again.

The way you talk about The Broken Earth is so inspiring. I unfortunately DNF’ed the Fifth Season :(. I think I will like her Hundred Thousand Kingdoms better.
I would love to reread the Conqueror’s Saga in January.

yeah that was another thing I was really hoping The Sword of Summer would get into! I wanted to see how Samirah would approach being Muslim AND being a Valkyrie, that could have been so interesting and thoughtful, and it was just...ignored?
you have me really intrigued by the Zack Argyle series!
I think I actually want to do a video at some point on my go-to comfort rereads but one of them is definitely The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery!

Yes! I didn't love that in Sword of Summer. Definitely do a comfort re-reads video! I don't think I've read Blue Castle.

One of my comfort reads is the wings of fire series!
It’s a middle grade epic high fantasy series about dragons.
I’ve been reading this series since late elementary school. Some of the books I’ve read up to six times!
And the fifteenth book in the main series is coming out in early 2022 which is so exciting ☺️💟

I love to reread, though I don’t do it nearly as often as I’d like. My most read comfort read is Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I fell in love with it when I first read it years ago, and I’ve reread it regularly ever since. I’m so pleased to hear you loved the Hogfather, I reread that last Christmas and adored it too

I was a little worried when I saw Hogfather on your stack and you mentioned this month being disappointing. But yay! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! It's one of my Discworld favorites because it blends humor and commentary in a really interesting way. For my comfort re-read, Hogfather is actually one of the ones on that list. I re-read it every Christmas and it always makes me feel better.

Hogfather sounds so good. I have Equal Rites on my TBR and I am excited to pick it up because I haven’t loved the Discworld books I have read in the past. I think I didn’t love them because I started in the wrong places, so I am excited to try again

    • @BeautifullyBookishBethany

I really liked Hogfather! It seems like his later books start to deal with more serious themes which I enjoy.

Stones of Light sounds good. I just can't with the holiday/Hallmark /small town stuff. My body rejects it like an allergic response. 😂 Hogfather is so good. It's one of my favorites from him. The TV adaptation with Tim Curry is really good too. I can't read Rothmuss until he finishes that series. I will Not be George RR Martin'd again. 😂 Do I re-read? Why, yes, yes I do. Quite often, in fact. I re-read Anne Bishop's The Others series every year as I do Patricia Briggs' Alpha and Omega series because they are favorites-both in their overall awesomeness and because they contain my all time favorite book couples. I also re-read Ruby Dixon, Agatha Christie,Robert Crais, John Sandford, Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, Annette Marie and Ilona Andrews quite often. Re-reads are essential for self-care. That and 🍫, hot chocolate, fuzzy blankets and socks. 😂

Having followed your experience with Book of the New Sun from the Blades and Bodice Rippers liveshow to the conclusion, I will definitely be adding it to my TBR. After finally finishing Dune this year, I think I’m in a place where I’m more open to trying some of the sci-fi classics. I’m not a converted hardcore Dune Head, but I also feel like it was well-worth the time spent reading it.

I have reread the Queen's Own trilogy from Mercedes Lackey so many times. Her Heralds of Valdemar series is what got me into adult fantasy many years ago, and while I dip back into that massive world often (new books and rereads), the Queen's Own trilogy is my favorite. Objectively I'm not sure I'd call them the best fantasy books I've ever read, but I still find them entertaining even after so many reads. They also just hold a place in my heart from the impact they had during my teenage years.

How do you keep track of your stats? Do you use an app, and excel spreadsheet? I have been trying to find a way that works for me, and I keep finding problems in whatever method I am using. As to your question... if i need a comfort read I normally pick up anything by Ilona Andrews. Her books are fun.
