    That long key you have is the master key. You should keep it at home. Don't lose it. The dealer or anyone who needs to program a new key will need the master key.

    I recently had to replace the right front turn signal and realized how hard it is to find that part on junkyards compared to the left side turn signal. Took me 2 months of continuous search in the whole Europe market to get my hands on a used, clean original Toyota part for my LS.

    My 2000 LS 400 does excellent on the highway as well, same as yours fuel economy-wise. These are very comfortable cars can drive for hours and feel just fine after the drive. I bought mine about 2 1/2 years ago, mine is white as well, Platinum series, you can see my 400 on Lexus Forum link on my youtube home page link. I'm an old-timer so the car suits me very well. Seems like you've done quite well with it, timing belt is a big deal, important. My experience has been good, I bought mine with less than 150K miles and still has less than 150K miles. About the only things I've done are snug down the valve cover bolts that loosened a little, oil changes, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, (needed cleaning it was starting to affect the way it ran) regular maint stuff. Oh yes with the fuel, I bought mine from the original owner for $4750.00, she used medium grade fuel in it a lot, she said she did just fine with it. I use premium. But to your point, most all cars now a days a flex fuel, the computer adjusts to whatever you put in it within reason, though I don't don't use regular unleaded I can see how the computer will adjust to it. Not everyone will agree with it is what it is, the car is fine. These are going to get harder to find simply because they are getting older, excellent cars though, if one can find a good one. My brother has the LS 430. 2006 model.

    I’ve had my 98 LS for 2 1/2 years also…My right fender is also messed up 😂 I just have two problems outta this car tho… The first one is the steering wheel is scripted so basically I can’t let it up or down and it’s like $1200-$1700 just to get it fixed 🤦🏼‍♂️ My other problem is the temp gauge hand is gone bad I have to order a new one…But besides that I love my car it’s VERY RELIABLE and it’s a 4.0L V8…one of best cars to be made in my opinion

    By the way the steering column adjustment motor usually fails on every LS. No matter how much you take care of it. It will eventually break.
    I had to get the Toyota techstream software installed on a old XP laptop to be able to communicate with the car and disable the automatic tilt adjustable function that happens every time you plug and unplug the key. Because that alone takes away a lot of life off of the tilt motor.
    My depth motor is dead but the tilt still works. So I only use it manually when I really need it. I will probably enable the function when I find a cheap motor replacement. But thats quite difficult.

      It sounds like that motor on the steering column is still working. There is a small plastic gear inside the column that often times wears out. Very easy 5 minute fix. There a couple youtube videos explaining how to repair using a zip tie.

      @YonnyMestampo Před 2 lety

      @@ManSeekingTruth1 Yes I found that kind of solutions a few years ago. In the 95 to 97 LS400 it's a lot easier to fix. But on my 98 to 00, which happens to be the same as in this video, the tilt and distance motors have a different mechanism and have no easy repair methods that I know of. But thanks.

    I owned a 98 LS400 for 9 years and 165k miles. In that time I only had to replace the timing belt twice, a starter, and an alternator. Solid car.

    Nice car bro!
    Make sure to use a quality leather conditioner with applied with a good cloth twice a year to keep the leather in good shape and prevent it from ripping.

    The fact that you did the timing bel and waterpump your gaurnteed 90 XXX to 140XXX miles easy! Only thing left would be suspension struts and stabilizers and you got a solid mobile for years to come

    93 fuel has more ethanol in it, witch burns faster. lower levels has lest ethanol in it witch burns slower. Better gas prevents knock/ping in motors. I would be very careful running anything less than what is says to use.
