"Falls off harder than Emmeryn" was not something I thought I'd hear today.
Don’t speak her name!
I lost it completely. 💀
Is that a FE3 character or something, I have no idea who that is.
@@Koppu1doragon Chrome’s older sister in Awakening and Exalt of Ylisse
@@tristanbowles7258 she falls off around chapter 7-8
One free warp per engage might be the best thing about her.
Her main utility is giving youtubers funny jumpscare clips on that one chapter.
Feels like Soren got all the cool, fun stuff and Celica got left with a “balanced” tool kit
I get that balancing is difficult and it's very easy for some things to slip under the radar, but holy shit how did they decide on that SP cost for Resonance lmfao
It's even on the same Emblem that gives Magic +2
I think the balancing decision was that resonance stacks with magic+2 so they overcosted both into irrelevance.
Recover is useful if you’re running low on staff uses, especially if you’re very low on gold, and ESPECIALLY if Hortensia is dead, meaning no World Tree.
You shouldn't be running out og stave usages to begin with, using Mend all the way saves a ton and is better long term since most of the time you are healing at most 30+ HP
Gold economy is hard to f up this game. Even on my first maddening play through(which was blind), where I messed up by donating too much and doing useless forges, I still had a good chunk of gold left. The kingdoms give you so much gold and emblem paralouges are free gold. Also since you’re running a team of 12-14, you just sell every other weapon you’re not using.
that is a whole lot of IF
Her main use for her is using her alongside with an Ike user. After Ike's Great Aether, she's super helpful in cleaning up the surrounding enemies and can clear 4 enemies with a Dance assist and Echo, works with other AOE Engage Attacks like Corrin or Roy to help clean up remaining enemies. Recover honestly isn't too bad, since staves have limited uses so having a Recover linked to Celica can be pretty good.
Other than that...yeah. Warp Ragnarok is fun but I always find myself not using it. Her other skills are mediocre as well. You could probably combo Wrath and Resonance for a Olwen Ring Lindon for the memes
Worth noting, Recover gives a LOT of exp per use early on.
She's one of the only Emblems to actually get outclassed by Dire Thunder.
Honestly, not really. As we all know she's great early on, but even when she rejoins, she's in Corrupted land with arguably the best anti-corrupted weapon tied to her. Warp Ragnarok falls into a utility role yes, but there's not real point in her availability where her combat as a whole is actually poor.
@@CyclonSilver Oligoludia moment
Also you can give any engage weapon that doesn’t have effectiveness corrupted effectiveness which is strictly better than Seraphim lol
@@nathanraber Afaik bane materials can only be optained post-game without the online, and with miserable odds, although I could be wrong on that. And yes the Olig is definitely awesome(so is the Sieglinde), but 1-2 range is a big plus.
@@CyclonSilver They can be obtained any time after I think chapter 6
No online required
You can't get them "postgame"
The only thing you get postgame in Engage is 100k gold
@@nathanraber I mean I'm looking at drop charts which maybe is incorrect ? Don't have much Tempest trial experience. From what I'm seeing they only drop from difficulty 41 and above, which is only available after clearing the game. The map which eventually drops them is also not unlocked immediately.
One somewhat notable thing about her is that flat damage boosts like Resonance or being next to Alear aren't halved by Echo, so if you dont have chain attacks set up, it's still useful if you only need like 2 extra damage for a kill. Also, her and Micaiah are the only non-DLC emblems that give Tome proficiency, giving her the important job of enabling mage reclasses.
Recover gives a LOT of exp so it’s useful in some cheese strats.
As of the 2.0 update, you can give her Seraphim +4 might as early as after chapter 6. Having an effective 30 might tome with nonexistent weight for the lategame is really nice, since literally everything past chapter 20 is a Corrupted.
On that same note, I think the highest tier version of Holy Stance could have some genuine lategame potential. It only costs 1000 SP, and you get 50% counter damage on both phases against everything since again, everything is a corrupted. The skill just has a bad rep because youre stuck with the base version for the early game (10% counter damage lmao) and you dont fight that many corrupted until lategame anyways.
I’m loving this series, will really help when I start my next play through
I remember people seeing this in the trailers for the first time and saying it was busted/gaming breaking
Matches her own game honestly.
why the quote "Falls off harder than Emmeryn" XDD man the feelings :c
Warp Ragnarok is basically her main boon.
Because warp.
Recover is kinda nice for healing utility on classes like Mage Knight that otherwise are just strictly offensive and appreciate the magic bonus, but otherwise it’s kinda meh for sure. I think Veyle is also an incredible user of Celica in non-DLC where she can’t just run Soren and win, as it gives her access to 4 range Thunder on Echo, which can be very nice for Draconic Hexing multiple enemies in a turn, such as with the Ch23 bosses or other strong enemies in late game chapters, which can be used in conjunction with a different Corrin user to debuff a lot of enemies each turn, which is never a bad thing to do. It’s a nice use for an emblem and character who I’d argue aren’t fantastic otherwise
As a dragon unit, Veyle gets access to a bunch of utility such as buffing with Byleth or all of corrins dragon veins. Shes a good unit
I like having whoever I plan to use inherit Draconic Hex, so then with Echo you can hit two people with decreased stats in one turn, and maybe even get danced for more. Is it that good? Probably not, most enemies you could probably just kill anyways. But it is funny to me.
Her paralogue can be used to grind money with Anna's personal skill but since it's not the only chapter with infinite reinforcements it's still nothing special.
Celica is the Jagen Emblem. Warp Ragnarok is an early game nuke, and most of your army can't 1 shot enemies, but if you plan well, they can bring enemies into echo range, so I've actually found this surprisingly useful.
Resonance drives me nuts, just because of how easy it is to forget about the damage you take as a result. That's caused far too many stupid deaths for me early game. That tiny chip in survivability is all it takes for early game bosses to 1 round Celine.
I also do her paralogue, if only because it's a trivially easy 2 turn win. Send a flier into her attack range, she'll warp right to you. It's the easiest chapter in the game.
Holy Stance has some synergy with Diamant. He has high HP, enemy attacks are more likely to hit him due to his personal, and he can use Sol to heal of the damage.
By the time you get Celica back, practically all the enemies in the story chapters are corrupted, so Holy Stance is active all the time. Too bad it requires so many bond fragments to fully unlock.
Diamant activating Sol is as likely as Alcryst doing damage without Luna, though. Not exactly the most reliable strat
With that abysmal Dex stat, Diamant proccing Sol is less of a possibility and more of a pipe dream.
With a Dex Tonic and a Cav Instruct, a Dex capped Diamant hits 34 Dex. That's kinda sad in its own right, but if you're willing to pay the opportunity cost of running Cav Instruct of all things, then he could proc Sol semi-reliably.
Seriously though, wtf were they thinking with Diamant's Dex cap...
Honestly holy stance seems good for smash builds. If you take 10 dame wouldn't be equivalent to strenght +5?
in a vacuum sure, but you can make any emblem and skill good in the right setting, but its all about opportunity cost, what celica provides and the sp to get said skills just isnt worth looking over other skills and emblems.
Griss my beloved
I’ve secured kills with holy stance before. It can help sometimes 😅
Agree that Celica as an equippable asset is alright (around hector’s level of meh) though her paralogue could be taken advantage of if you have Anna’s luck above 40, Veronica’s sp converger, or even units or inheritance Veronica’s sp converger as even slaining enemies with inevitable end still proc Anna’s and Veronica skill.
She gives you pink hair, so it's a 11/10 for me.
i lowkey think echo might be legit good on veyle for both having extra tome range and fishing for obscurite crits, if she either can fininsh an enemy with 1.5x crit damage then attack another enemy, or if her crit rate isn't 100% and a .5x hit & 1.5x crit will kill
the wave 4 update bonus probably benefits celica the most, simply because adding +4 might to seraphim effectively gives any unit a 30 might tome. a character with 20 base magic and a might forged seraphim reaches 58 magic attack, which, suffice to say, is quite bonkers. even magic stats as low as 15 can reach one round thresholds due to tonics and other forms of buffs. no other engage weapon gives that much insane value simply from +4 might, so it’s not like there’s competition for the MT crystals either
Holy shit it came out before June I was wrong.
recover works as a way for grinding exp in late game by healing seadall or other high leveled unit and that's about it ig
imo Resonance is what makes Favorite Food not clunky. If you don't care about filling those 2 skill slots in your Byleth magic user you can go for it and do double the dancing
The only thing I want to point out is Echo+Seraphim can *theoretically* do signifigentally higher damage to corrupted then just attacking
Especially if Céline procs Ignis. Very good chance of just killing an enemy, especially if both Echoes get Ignis.
I found using Velye's tome with Echo to be decent as she can just crit two enemies for two free kills.
@@123christianac Soren is better in nearly all other circumstances though
Only thing I really like about Celica is her corrupted effective tome, though without a might boost from engage crystals even that falls off
Here's the thing about echo...
if you deal enough damage with it you can destroy 2 life cristal and it synergize very well with ivy personal skill... on top of being able to hit/kill 2 enemies too for example
Why is Ragnarok blue outside of Warp-Ragnarok?
Ok fun meme build using Celica and her Tome Precision skill.
Put Celica on Gregory who has a personal skill that grants him +20 avoid when there are enemies near him. Give him Tome Precision 5 which will give +15 avoid. Give him a tome with Micaiah's engraving that will give him +40 avoid. Use Warp Ragnarok and just jump into an avoid tile in enemy territory. Watch Gregory dodge tank like a boss.
It uses a valuable Micaiah engraving but its fun to have a teleporting magic dodge tank and makes use of tome precision and his personal which are usually useless.
Echo is pretty useful with a lot of backup units since it allows for double the backup spam per attack
The strat:
4 heroes at full hp
1 unit that can outrange or not die in 1 hit
Echo
Wonder why you bothered when you only do decent damage when you could do some other cheese strat that only requires 1 unit like wrath panette or some shit
Profit
PS. Crits can miss in this so wrath panette still suffers from killer axe low hitrates XD
@@nodot17 Why not both? After all, Celica is better than nothing and if you've already got a couple of backup units, it's free damage.
I wonder if this makes celica a jagen
My best strat for Celica is a mage who has draconic hex. So 3 range thoron causing debuffs
That’s exactly what I did and it works out pretty well
Wait you can take her ring off Céline and give it to other characters? Huh
Not in her joining chapter. Also, this implies you never switched your Emblems around.
@@paperluigi6132 it's a joke Paper Luigi :]
Once I got nova I got a lot of use out of echo if my mages had enough speed to double since it’d often let me one round two enemies with the one ally. Seraphim honestly is the only other good thing on her kit though 😭
Echo can also be used alongside Alear + Spoiler’s passives for a total of 4/8 (from double atk) more damage than if you didn’t use Echo. Add Spur Atk from Alfonse, and that becomes 5/10. This isn’t even accounting for all the chain attacks you’ll hit.
I do think Celica is trash compared to other emblems, but Echo imo is easily the best part of her kit
I like leaving Celica on Ivy, and give her Hold out, so on the late game we can have her defeating any corrupt even Wyrms with Holy Stance without worrying about retaliation.
There are a few spelling mistakes and I don't know if that was on purpose or not.
Most notably is "Warp Ragnorak" instead of "Warp Ragnarok"
Ragnorak
Favourite food should always be taken advantage of, and echo is really nice, you can also pair it with something like draconic hex
Other than that yeah would be the worst emblems if it wasn't one of the few magical ones, although I guess marth and sigurd are good magical emblem om mysticals?
A weird but useful synergy is with Bunet. His personal has a chance of not consuming leftovers, meaning you could get multiple fast recharges with him, on top of healing.
@@paperluigi6132 Bunet is one of the worst unit in term of combat though.
Very funny gimmick though.
The bonus is good for your Qi Adept since it boosts Arts damage.
Ironically holy stance is probably Celicas best damage boosting skill lategame when every enemy is corrupted
Seriously tho, why is Magic Up so goddamn expensive, and what were they thinking when designing Holy Stance
- Giving one of the best staffs in the game ( that gives more at much or more exp than mend) to people that can't even use staffs is not weak
- Stat-wise it's clearly made for the teapot, but putting her on classes with good magic but a lack of good times is very good
- echo is just broken and it's a lot more than just for chain attacks. 27% ignis rate doesn't really matter if you attack 8 times on player phase. chain attacks be rotting ur brain
- resonance literally makes echo do more damage, thats why its not just magic +2
The ring was made for Celiene, even late game.
You know you are fucked when the evil villains start using the evil version of her.
And it gives Echoes Shadows of Valentia Witch PTSD.
Still works fine on some magic based attackers like Celine or Clanne.
The only good thing is echo because sometimes 1 hit won’t do it, but splitting it I to 2 somehow gives you enough damage to KO an enemy. Plus if you have enough chain attacked you can theoretically knock 2 enemies out for 1 unit but it’s not that reliables
Personally Celica had just devolved into “I need echo, I’ll use echo” and that’s it.
And why does her weapon engrave give -1mt, -1wt & 50 dodge? What is that supposed to accomplish? Maybe -1mt is just thematic to Celica, the emblem that gives STR+MAG, I guess.
In the alternate universe where lots of enemies were equipped with Killer weapons, that engrave would be great. Just a map design thing that enemies with Killers just aren't that common so a hard anti-crit niche isn't needed.
gives both str and magic but only has 2 tomes and a healing staff engaged seems legit
While the emblem rewards for doing her paralogue are mediocre, it is probably one of the easiest and most farmable in the game. The 3 summoners give infinite enemies and while they have void curse (i.e. no exp) they can grinded with the sp gaining skill from Emblem Veronica. Combine this with a built Anna and you can also farm money.
As there are Griffin knights with high luck, go all in on crit to maximise kill potential. Refined Killer Axe with a crit engrave (Corrin even if it’s only for this map), skills Vantage and Wrath. Lastly Emblem Veronica leveled up enough to get Reprisal +. Basically the build is low health for high damage and crit chance to one shot enemies, in other words you have to crit or they will kill Anna. So 100% crit chance is a must.
You can reclass Anna into a Griffin to give better stat caps like in Luck for example to maximise her personal skill proc chance and Dex for higher crit chance.
Now for the map, use Alear on the Cannon and reduce Anna’s health as low as you can get it (She won’t die just to 1hp). Take out the summoner on the far right (Spawns Ranged units), then park Anna outside the Wyrms and Celica’s range and end turn over and over. When your finished, kill the summoners and now since Anna has decent to high res depending on her class, Anna should be able to tank warp Ragnarok. From then just jump on her with all your units.
Overall while risky on higher difficulties it’s still quite doable, Anna just requires more (A lot more) investment but the rewards are well worth once you have it all setup.
video runtime is 1:31, how could I possibly believe anything in this video T_T
One thing Excelblem looked past was that Echo & Warp Ragnarok give +1 range to Dragons (Veyle/Nel/the-others-suck-at-magic), making her ring strictly better than Dire Thunder unless you're using Thunder, and that Echo essentially doubles your chance for a crit since each swing gets a crit chance. I gave (base class) Nel Celica, since she had utterly fallen off in physical damage output between FX6 and returning to the team, and since a mediocre mage is better than a mediocre physical attacker in basically every FE game. Veyle has Soren as a better candidate, sure, but that's really only due to half-Nosferatu and Hold Out+++ (and really Micaiah is better in that case due to full-Nosferatu).
Holy Stance+/++ are good on soft targets like Seadall, if you have a slot for them.
Resonance is more annoying than bad; I imagine and Magic+ are priced the way they are so that you don't stack them on your SOREN-USER.
Resonance is a weird case, because it’s sometimes better than magic+2, and sometimes worse, but it’s always worse than it’s better availability counterpart, Bravery, since both skills are true damage skills. Bravery gives +3 at its lowest level, and Resonance gives +3 at its highest for the cost of 1HP per round of combat, making it just a bad bravery, meaning, if celica isn’t on the unit, don’t get resonance ever.
Another reason not to do her paralogue, if the celica user has unlocked ragnarok as a weapon to equip then they'll automatically swap to it after using warp ragnarok.
I’m pretty sure I’ve actually been killed by Resonace more times than it helped me kill an opponent
Having her as a filler ring means you cant use Olwen and Brave Thunder fun times so she's actually like negative utility in late game lol
I really can’t agree that holy stance is bad. Sure base holy stance isn’t great, but by the time she rejoins and does her paralogue, there’s only 1 chapter left in the game that has non-corrupted as enemies (marth’s paralogue). This means it’s basically a free 30-50% counter on generic enemies for the rest of the game for minimal SP investment. Considering how expensive base damage skills are. Getting a dozen or so damage on holy stance against enemies is a great deal and an easy way for worse off units to contribute.
I know its a bit late now, but adding in their engrave utility should be considered (which makes her even worse lol)
I feel like celica was too narrowed into fitting exactly celine to really be a useful emblem, and even then celine outgrows her pretty fast
I don’t really see how having a free warp once per engage even if it’s not one shotting is particularly awful lategame. Recover’s also fine.
That plus Favorite Food for another quick Warp make her amazing.
its because theres about 1000 better combinations and emblems to use.
I find her to be really useful in a specific build. Ivy with nova tome, and draconic hex all combo with celica’s echo, and that also makes the second echo more accurate with her personal skill. Engrave nova with more accuracy and crit chance, and you have a unit that can one round most enemies (pretty much every enemy with enough crits/procs from her class skill)
Id go as far as to say dire thunder is better than celica
There's one thing I don't understand. There are 13 emblem rings by the end and Engage is FE17.
- Marth was the protagonist of a trilogy (-2)
- FE16 was a remake (-1)
17-2-1= *14*
Did they skip a game's protagonist?
Mystery of the Emblem also has a remake in DS but not translated officially.
FE3, 11, 12 as Marth is a protag and FE15 is Gaiden remake. FE16 is Three Houses.
And this is why Alm should've been the Emblem of Echoes!
I was so dissapointed when I saw Celica was the Emblem of Echoes. I had hope Alm was going to be one of the DLC emblems, but sadly that never happened.
what so we have more physical emblems? byleth was already forced to give magic as well as erika. Alm would have really been no different than half of other emblems.
Man if only there was another character from Echoes that could have been paired up with her Emblem that would have given her more versatility and late game usage and also has significant plot importance in Echoes. Too bad there isn’t anyone that matches that description. Unfortunate. Oh well!
I just realized that Alm and Celica are so close in their game, they are literally a Cain and Abel duo. Think about it, Alm has a green motif and Celica has a Red motif, and they even follow distinct stat spreads
Mages already have few dedicated emblem as it is, let's split the one they have with generic infranty sword lord NO 2 because there are not enought emblem falchions in this game.
@@noukan42 alm has bows and combat arts, stuff they could have implemented into the emblem and made it a mixed sword, bow and magic set. Could do some cool stuff with it. Also alm is WAY More deserving than celica to represent echoes and having them be a dual emblem would fix two birds with one stone. I'm not even saying to remove celica just add alm onto her.
@@LunaAndPals alm is a marth in agame that has already 6 marths and there is literally no emblem that is purely for magic users in the game.
If you ask me they should have cut even more marths when possible.
Fam, the only ‘marth’ s in this game based on the assumed definition being a Falchion swordy would be
-Marth(duh)
-Lucina
That’s it. Roy is much different with his kit, same with Ike, and sigurd, and Lyn. Even lucina has bows. There isn’t any reason alm couldn’t be added.
Echo is Bad due to the reason only one Unit is getting the exp. Plus, even though i agree she does fall off, i still love blowing stuff up with her
Yeah once Soren became available with the dlc. She might as well stop existing. Shes good for the time you have her in the early game, but after that, just replace her with Soren
Soren does the whole magical nuke focused emblem stuff so much better
"avo doesn't benefit tome users very much"
*cues in angry rant about my 34 speed mage knight Clanne that has an emblem of beginning Bolganone and is barely ever hit*
Okay weird builds aside I get why you wouldn't bother with her. Still I like that Engage lets you make dumb shits, reminds me of my 100% hit & crit great club berserker Hayato, sometimes you just want to make weird things
you could use a surge tome and make a sudo sword master dodge tank doing magic damage
Doing a no dlc maddening run, indeed she is useless and is second by Leif 😂. Everyone else does fine
I gotta disagree pretty hard on the subject of Recover being "not worth using", as you put it. It's pretty meh overall, but there are a lot of little benefits it has that make it worth using. It has the same healing power as the normal Recover staff while also having infinite durability and not costing any money, it can give extra utility to magic units that can't wield staves (Mage Knights, Veyle, Zelestia, and unpromoted mages in the earlygame) while also allowing you to save Micaiah for someone else, and if nothing else it's a free source of EXP and SP.
Basically, even some of the S rank rings are better than this Emblem ring.
Alm got throttled for *this?*
Uh.
I generally agree with your takes, but here it feels like you're glossing over a lot of things, or just being harsh. Meh.
One other thing that makes her bad: She's not an Alm emblem
This wouldn’t have happened if they chose Alm as the emblem /j
