With Virtua Racing on Switch, here's hoping Daytona USA and Sega Rally Championship aren't too far off!
@@Fulthrotle73 Yes, it's a great game! I still keep seeing it in almost every arcade that's still functioning.
I am fine with those games eventually making it... but I want to see Virtual On first!
Sadly the reason why M2 didn’t add the other tracks and cars was because they all used different formats, and weren’t compatible with the arcade code they ported, and Sega didn’t give M2 the time or money to recreate the tracks and cars from scratch in the arcade format.
$8 for a racing game? Who cares about being a Mario Kart fan, I’m gonna get this game rn
Edit: For first timers like me btw this game is hard af
It is just the AI being on crack. Intermediate track is by theory not winnable and you could only hope the head runner runs into obstacles
If only Nintendo did this on there fx chip games I love this art style
There was actually a super FX chip racing game on the SNES, but the Super FX wasn't as powerful as the Virtua Processor used to get Virtua Racing to run on the Genesis. The Super FX racing game (Called Super FX Racing) was pretty bad. It lagged a lot and wasn't as fast as Virtua Racing.
This is my favorite SEGA AGES release on Switch.
Sega Rally Championship will be a day one buy for me. I hope they make it!!
Incredible port
This remaster looks amazing but it is weird that the colours are so much lighter than the original, it’s a strange choice by M2, they don’t usually do anything like this. But I secretly kinda like it a lot so I’m glad they did this.
Apparently they added a gamma setting, so its possible to make it look more like the arcade version now. Its a nice touch
Mind-blowing port of this 90s classic. I'd love to see this kind of treatment done for Race Drivin'.
They kinda did. The PS1 and Saturn version run the classic game smoothly, and have a very much unloved update with textured graphics. I played it recently. It’s NOT as bad as angry CZcamsrs make it out to be. It’s no ridge racer or Sega rally, but the original game wasn’t really like VR either.
@sloppynyuszi I thoroughly enjoyed the PS1 and Saturn ports of Race Drivin' as well. I love that it's got all the exact music and sound effects frlm the arcade version. And of course, they're a million times better then the Genesis and SNES ports.
I need a virtua collection on the switch. That would be iconic
Bravo! i was raised on VR arcade with virtual announcer in LasVegas and 2 player version hamburger joint 3 miles away down the street i lived. i bought the 32X version and over exaggerated to the point it made my family friends sick. at one time i lived in Japan highly impressed 2500 version when i seen a demo in america played it loved it. i was ready to fight you because usually reviews usually fake wannabe wish they grew up in my timeline i was very impressed how much you understand and care you have lots of respect
Love this game! I'm glad they didn't mess around with it. Just made it run smoother and look cleaner thanks to modern hardware. The perfect port!
I rather this than a trash port, but… I wouldn’t have minded an updated take on the 32X tracks, and I think the PS2 version also had new tracks? (Never had it). The Saturn version tracks with some extra polish? I’m happy with what we have, but I kinda wouldn’t mind some of the updates getting some love.
I never noticed to the black mark next to the lap time until he said something about it...
thanks
I always had a soft spot for that old sega style.
I picked it up like four years ago while it was on sale and it's one of my favorite games on the system.
It's super fun, super arcad-y while also being hard to master. Love it.
Great review, i was born in 1995 so i was 3 years out but i still might give this a go as i always heard it was one of Sega's other classics :)
I'll have to check it out, lots of good memories from the arcade
8:07 I dropped to 9th on Bay Bridge (Grand Prix) ToT
Well, it's still pretty good after 4 months.
This looks amazing, I play it on the Sega 32x sometimes
I wish they would update it for all the extra content or have it as dlc. Hoping to see Daytona 2 and Scud Race in the future Sega ages line up.
Still waiting on the inevitable Virtua Fighter 1 Sega Ages port, with the re-addition Of Long Forgotten Fighter Siba.
I used to have the Genesis and 32X versions of this game.
Here's hoping they do an update or DLC that adds the content from previous ports
Yo me acuerdo de jugar a este video , era un vicio en esa época
Looks perfect. Great video
Wow i thought i would never see it
This is a perfect port, as it looks like how we *remembered* the game. It's currently on sale for just 2€.
Love this game but hate the camera bump every time you hit the pedal. Haven't found a way to get rid of that
Change the controls to Arcade then get used to using the right analog stick as the throttle. The steering is now proportional as in the Arcade too.
I recently got this game on the E shop, Very good port and by father the definitive way to play but the mega drive version while looking pretty rough these days was a revelation upon its release.
its so... retro like. the water, the sky, no shadows (ps2 has shadows though), low poly, everything!
For $8, I'd say this is an excellent port.
Really like this it’s the best version & doesn’t feel off
i watched others play this game because it was just too expensive. i was used to paying 25 cents to play outrun, top gear, super sprint and all the other arcade hits. NOT paying one dollar or two for a single credit in the 1990s when that was worth double the value today as a teenage kid in high school. no way
Whoah
pretty scumbag move that a very old game like this is released solo , when could quite easily be bundled in a CLASSICS collection(like they used to do !!!) with sega rally, Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter and OUTRUN
Blown away by this port
How come when the car goes around a corner the view judders up and down? Maybe i'm seeing things but that looks very off putting!
it's depending on if you accelerate or brake, on the arcade it was subtle since you had analog pedals. on the switch it looks jerky because of the digital nature of the buttons (they are basically just on/off). They should've definitely disabled the acceleration camera in my opinion. However, you can choose to have the right analog stick act as the gas and brake pedals. then the motion becomes much smother and you have a much easier time perfecting your score.
@@DennisRamberg Thanks for the info mate. Looks super annoying to me to be honest.
@@krammis76 it was for me as well in the beginning, but to be honest, once you start playing, you start concentrate more on turns and having the right amount of speed, the camera becomes less of an annoyance. When you're watching a youtube video you are just watching the graphics instead of interacting with the game. I would say, although annoying, it isn't a deal breaker. and you might play in a different way not "pumping" the gas pedal in turns. (although it works, it isn't the best way of handling turns). Worth noting is that the video looks less smooth than actual gameplay, I don't know if it's a 59.97Hz / 60Hz that makes it look less smooth or just the constant jumping on the gas pedal? But it sure looks like both.
I wish this game would come out for PS4.
I didn’t think the mega drive version was that bad, sure it didn’t really age well but I still get enjoyment out of it
It would be great to have Chris Scullion read his review.
C.D. Riley I’ve been a fan of his since his ONM days. Didn’t intend to cause offence!
Wish someone would fix the shading of the colors, it's so bright and a bit washed out. The red of the car is also tinted towards pink/purple
my 1st serious driving experience in my life, learn how to switch gear & cornering using steering with force feedback, during 90's.
I dont think i can enjoy on SWITCH , jus dun feel the same with proper steering & foot pedal which i learn at arcade.
The Acropolis was built by the ancient Greeks in Athens, by the way...
Is this version take 32X version or not?
Firt Reaon to by a Switch ;) Waiting to the next Switch and by this Virtuar Racing.
It’s not Daytona USA, but it’ll do.
Its like MRC on the N64. It also has only 3 races.
Could be worse, could be Ridge Racer 1. One track with a variation lmao
Does the split screen gets THAT tiny when used by 8 players? Or is it just an exaggeration?
This looks great but the screen bouncing up and down is a deal breaker 😢
Now just bring Virtua Tennis back SEGA. u_u
Why isnt this game on PS4 or PC?
Please Sega, Daytona 1 & 2!!
Daytona 2 would be amazing to have available. The Model 3 era needs to be utilised
I noticed a lot of frame drops and slowdown during this video. How is that a rock solid 60 fps? Oh well I'm buying it anyway. For $1.99 you can't really go wrong.
Sega Super GT would be nice on the switch!
8 Player...NOT available online? That's ridiculous...
i still have it on megadrive and also had it on 32x.
i always liked the looks and realy want to like the game but i always thought it was kinda boring.
i enjoy it a lot, collecting all the retro games on switch
7:31 what the hell you on about the megadrive version plays brilliantly, you obviously haven't bothered putting in the time to play it.
it really doesn't. it's impressive for the time but is quite clearly a game with wow factor placed above playability. the 32x version is a dream, though.
3 circuits???????????????????????????
This, hotshot racing and Mario kart 8 are the triforce of Nintendo switch racing games
8 out of 10? More like 10 out of 10.
Wow. Looks very similar to arcade except those random hiccups it seems to have. I felt arcade was a little smoother. If they can port arcade versions of Dayton USA and Virtua Fighter 2, I’m ALL IN.
Can You Tell Me Please How Can Get That Sega Game Virtua Racing On My Nintendo Switch Can You Tell Me Please My Friend
Glad I watched this before buying it, this looks so smooth that it basically removes all the nostalgia for me. I loved how VR was so polygonal and not so smooth. At 60 frames and being redone the colors don’t look as bold and it doesn’t feel or look retro. It just looks off.
They could have made a bit faster. Because of the smooth framerate the driving looks a bit slow...
Can You Tell Me Please How Can Get That Game On My Nintendo Switch Can You Tell Me Please My Friend
Short answer: it is worth it now stop watching this, get a switch, and buy this thing.
I'm prefer the 32x version, 5 tracks, more cars...
what the hell? this review is like a month late and the online is dead already!
Game looks to clean for me..! I like more the original arcade style
Second!
Daytona USA is crap, and still sits in my local theatres Arcade room. What a waste.
He admitted to copying someone's review. Respect.
lmao, it's not copying. This is just a voiced version of the written review that's on Nintendo Life's website.
9 minutes of describing this game hyping it up to be soo great. I handled 3 minutes before skipping
You dead set blew your credibility with me when you bagged out the Mega Drive version... That version is nothing short of a technical masterpiece and plays WAY BETTER than the butcher job on the Saturn. It was probably out ten years before you were born, you have no qualification to comment on it!!
A physical release of this whole collection would be an instant buy for me.
Only problem is games keep coming out so to make a collection of everything when more keep coming…
