  • This is a traditional song performed by a lead singer in a Eastern Tone and the choir answers in the Western Tone. The song is led by Mr Wahied Kannemeyer who is from Cape Town but now resides with his family in Australia. He visited Cape Town after 15 years and needed to join in on the New Year celebration which is unique to the Cape Malays. This song was performed at Boeta Isgak's residence in Clive Road, Lansdowne. It is tradition in Cape Town that Malay choirs take to the streets in a special uniform and perform traditional songs at the homes of family and supporters from sunset until early hours of the New Year morning. The choir is also celebrating its 55th anniversary which is why we draped in the club colours and also have the name in Gold symbolising the achievement against the backdrop of so many challengers over last 20 years. The song is performed in the authentic Dutch language.
