Love the sound of this woman and the band...really neat, different. I'm an old 76 year old retired musician...I remember them back when, I liked them then, like them still. Unique!
I was 13, and it was a confusing time being an American Navy brat living overseas and feeling like a misfit during an awkward stage in life. Edie and her friends made me feel like someone understood. I still find comfort and safety in her voice and lyrics.
I WAS 23 AND WAS IN MY PRIME LIVING MY BEST LIFE. I NEVER DREAMED THAT 56 YEARS OLD NOW THAT I'D BE GOING THROUGH THIS HELL AND RELIVING THIS MUSIC TO MAKE ME HAPPY AGAIN. MUSIC MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND
As youngest of six music loving siblings, I found Eddie and The New Bohemians when my life was chaotic, upended, and filled with trepidation. Her vocals saved me many a night
I remember it was the late 80s. I was in a record store and I heard What I Am, I forgot was I was buying and had to have this album. I have been a fan ever since. I just liked their sound.
This is an awesome album. One of the best from the late 80's. She followed this album with "Ghost of a Dog", another good album. Shooting rubber bands at the Stars is still a great listen.
me too... i got whas i am ever in ,my head and i just can't rememewbr what bands and who the great singer were...finally today i find it,, writing down some lyrics on web...i'm so happy . good times, iw as under army duty in 1989 and loved this album , was so innovative .
The illustrations are Edie's. She went to college to study art. When you see similar illustrations, such as on Stranger Things and some of Edie's solo works, those are hers. As for the animation, whoever did it used Edie's illustrations and I'm sure her concept. She is an amazingly talented artist.
Look up Dreamtime by Daryl Hall. It was an earlier video than this and has some cool animation in it, too. I remember being amazed back then any time a music video incorporated animation. It was definitely pretty rare.
@ Shani Heckman here’s the link to Dreamtime. It’s not as advanced as this video but it was very cool at the time. :) czcams.com/video/oed8rUV_wdY/video.html
Hers & Steve Martin's performance of "Love Has Come For You" on The View has renewed my appreciation of Edie's voice from listening to her back in college. Good grief, this woman improves with time.

Edie - if you ever read these boards, the first time I heard you sing He Said it completely mesmerized me. Your voice is like like pure love on tape. That song is so incredibly beautiful and plays on so many levels. A song that is a love song, a song on inner strength and, at the end, a complete reversal and a cry for companionship. Some day I would love to hear what you were thinking or living through when writing that song and every song you have ever sang. I’ll buy the whiskey and pour you a glass or two!! Thank you for bringing your talent to all of us.
i was so lucky to get to see edie on the Ghost of a Dog tour at the Sunshine Theater in NM. It was the best concert i have ever been to, and i have been to ALOT, the atmosphere was as if everybody was linked together! Very Spiritual!! the song Forgiven off of Ghost of a dog is my Fav, and Air of December off of Shooting Rubber Bands other Fav. Remember the Vets, and Peace!!
You must be kidding, she's the most boring female artist of that era. All her music sounds the same without variation. Paul Simon certainly married her for something other than her music. She's a one hit artist like Hootie and the Blowfish.
Love her standing and balancing on one foot while and singing, not to mention the Music and her voice is amazing, the guitar and band also amazing (( LOVE IT ALL ))
A ski bum in Mammoth Lakes when this came out, will always remind me of Steep and Deep skiing High Sierra. I’m in Tahoe now in 2022 listening still. And after 18 feet in December it sounds killer
A truly beautiful song...recalls me to the times i had with my best friend. She and me are so much better(not perfect) but better. We have true meaning to this great song.

The first cassette my mom let me take to my room🎉
@@DevineHopeFoundation You have almost the same age like Edie Bricknell (born 1966)
I was 17, I still love her to this day. Her songs got me through a lot!! Still do!! ❤ and I’m much older now 😊
Edie's voice is so calm and soothing, also it has a fuzzy and rock vibe I truly felt in love with her voice
edie you so right

Beautiful song! All musicians, not only the bass player, are great.
Great song 🎵 and animation 👌

+Thomas Woodley You are right. I listen to this album all the way through at least 2 times a year.
+Dennis B I just got it on vinyl and I'm OBSESSED.
That's great!
I lived next to Edie in New Canaan CT. She is so nice and down to earth.💜
Edie Brickell &New Bohemians Love Like We Do is one of my favorite song

i beg to differ, what about dire straits money for nothing, some of the peter Gabriel videos and A HA ''take on me''
@@crazysingingchick look Peter Gabriel videos
I always dreamed of having a relationship like this song...and I finally found it in 2010.

No aggravation that we can't get through
A situation for the lucky few
And everyday is just a little more

Edie should have her own clothing line. I would buy everything. Especially the purple suede lace-up boots.
Pretty sure you can get Levi's at tge store
those boots, yes!
Absolute pure good vibes music from my early days. Definitely part of the #SoundtrackOfMyLife
one of the best albums of all time!!!
I'd have to agree. It;s a no-skip record but also one of the all-time most underrated.

2019 almost over, this song still one of my fav.☀️
3 minutes 10 seconds of pure joy!
I fucking adore edie...
Been a fan of Edie since I was a little girl
1988 was my birth year. God bless the 80s and 90z vibes
Best song. I could play this song 50x in a day and not tire of it.
Someday it'll play at my wedding. Edie rocks the house.
What I Am is great, too-
So glad to have rediscovered this tune. Such a sweet little pop nugget, and so joyful.
I remember this song best from the How I Got Into College soundtrack. Freaking love that movie!!
Sweet nostalgia.
VERY VERY underrated!!
If your from Dallas back in the day... well, you already know! Greatness!!!!

glad i got to see Edie and the band back in the day on tour supporting this disc...
This is the sound of the end of the 80's when I was 11. What a travel in time. Lovin' it
So mellow and smooth!
I was 93 when I first saw them play live at The Hung Horse in L.A.
And I'm still boppin like a bunny to this honey.
Crips for life nig!
Crushing on Edie for 22 years and counting.
It’s rare that a brand is this stellar on a debut album. Cheers. 🎉
RIP bassist Brad Houser :-(
Edie brickell me eriza cada vez que la escucho,es adorable su voz. Única
Much of this music from my youth, defines me as the adult I currently am. Period.
Same
Growing up with 3 sisters very close in age, listening to her in mornings made it so much easier!
great song with real life lyrics. Wish she was still makin' music.
She is... what makes you happy
It came out 2018, she's 52 and didn't seem to age much in 30 years.
@@MrWeezo21 Yep! Edie is still very very beautiful!
Is splendored thing
Always a favorite. Not just anybody can pull off the purple shoe look. Missing the Eighties.
I was about 10 years old when this came out. Would listen to this whole album a lot, but this was my absolute favorite track.
I forgot how much I loved this song!
Another 80's gem!

This is the beautiful sound of innocence before it was shattered by a creepy old dude, remember that when u ask what happened to Edie 💜🙏💚
That's cryptic and an odd comment. If you're referencing her husband Paul then you're misinformed.
Just a GREAT GREAT song on so many levels!!
So talented, it's crazy. NB's and Edie, all very talented artists
god bless and long live even kudos to edie kenny and wes and these rhythm sections
this was a great album!

Still did the fade on this song. Makes it gold.
The most 90's 80's band.
Once again ahead of her time!!
This is what I'd call "class"......female singers should have HER style
