Matpat, you still miss one thing: TALL. The artist did an AMAZING job, this bird-pokémon looks absolutely incredible, but... it's WIDE, not TALL. Longer legs, longer and more "feminine" torso... the bird, again: looking incredible, looks way too short.
The first design wasn't symetrical and failed to have a tail. This second design is a shortstack. Both of them are not drawn well.
Not that tall if the average was up to 5ft though.

yes as soon as I saw how short and squat the new bird pokemon is, I was pretty sure it didn't fit within Mark's range of preference ;) just based on what I saw in this video alone. I never paid attention to mark before now... lol what I learned about markiplier from this video is about 20 times more than I knew before watching this xD Matt just make yor new pokemon taller and you got it!
Also Auntie Nyan Nyan. He went nuts for her because she was so tall she had to bend below the ceiling. So like 11ft or 12 ft tall. Also extremely powerful as she boasted about being on of the oldest eldritch horrors in existence and threatened to tear him apart for messing with her nieces. It helped a lot that she had a very mature voice as well and commanded respect. Plus she and Dimetrescu are both elegant and respectful ladies in long white gowns.

Yeah, I think the tallness is a factor. The data might not say that he likes em' tall, but as matpat said in his last video, you cant exactly tell the height by the design. So its more about proportions. The bird there is about as wide as it is tall, a square-like figure. Which makes it not look very tall. Meaty, but short looking. Who knows, if Mark had a sense of scale, maybe he'd like the bird as it was... But he was given a nice slender tall body, and a beautiful bird face with flowers, and he chose both those aspects.

I think the reason that taking the top result of every catagory and combining it didnt work is since the combination of features is what makes the pokemon "smashable". For example I like salmon and I also like vanilla, that does not mean id love vanilla salmon lol.

The end result is absolutely stunning, however, since Mark's defining feature is that he likes *tall* strong women I really would have given the bird more height and added a cinched waist since many of his Pokemon choices were slender and long.

I would honestly love an entire Pokemon region dedicated to 100 of Matpat's Pokemon designs.
One important part for doing something so specific is that you need to make sure it actually lookes like a pokemone you did well both times but remember it must be perfect
He's 100% gonna pass this one. It's more of a sassy young girl then that tall mature woman type that he would more go for. I think that's where it went wrong for the first one as well. It wasn't this thing that would tower over you and destroy you.

To be honest, I saw one of the iterations with side posture, where the Pokemon looks more flirty to the side that I think Mark would actually fall into it. The chosen forms seems too.... Serious. And I think that was the problem with the first pokemon inspired from Egyptian side. Even the "strong legs" were not as strong showing in the shown image, they looked smaller and average in thickness. Also, point of view is veeeeery important when showcasing a design, no matter what you show so you must catch the best angle for it!!!!!!!
I personally love this design but I think a longer torso and legs would attract Mark more. He seems to like them tall.

I was thinking that too, this design could be interpreted to look a bit younger. Mark definitely passed on quite a few pokemon just because they looked young. So hopefully he won't see it as looking young lol.
Let's just say he is keeping things a bit closer to his chest in case they have to make a third or fourth video on it.

Ultimately I do like the designs. This one does look too short, I still admire the designs themselves (well 1 and 2). Like, I could see those in a game at some point.
As beautiful as the final result is, you're missing so much. He likes long, tall, with big honkers. The sketches had a lot of potential. I'd say make them all into final products, send them as a series with your new bird to him and watch him react.
I think Mat is just projecting onto Mark at this point. Mark himself SAID he wants TALL girls. TALL! Stop projecting and just take the man for his WORD.
My prediction for this girl is another capital PASS considering her proportions make her look so short. Mark doesn't read the actual height for the pokemons but we clearly see that his strongest choices all had proportions and body ratios that suggest tallness if you ignore the actual height written off to the side.

That and I don't see the feather thigh-high boot like appeal with this one. I feel with the Lei they could have brought it more the the front to give a more bosom appeal. And again the legs being longer would have been better and I liked the hair style from the sketches more than the finished product.

Mark has tricked you. He has trapped you in a game of 4D chess that is rigged against you. He said "pass" to get you to make ANOTHER perfect Pokémon for him, thus making him have access to gain a ton of lovely Pokémon that he could smash. It will be a cycle of you making Pokémon and him saying no until he has a ton of Pokémon ladies that he can smash.

I actually think the first one was already pretty perfect. My guess is that the art style was a big part of it. He liked very exaggerated feminine features, but even though Neferkiti is feminine, she doesn’t have the massive eyelashes or tiny waist he liked in a lot of others. She has the power he wants but not really the ‘come hither’ half-lidded expression. (Either way I love the design tho, big props to the artist.)

Matt, you’re taking hard data too seriously when it’s PERSPECTIVE that matters. The actual heights of Mark’s smashes don’t matter, it’s that they APPEAR tall and imposing based on their features. The art still looks incredible though!
Art is at the end of the day subjective, You may look at a piece crafted masterfully and generated by AI, and then look at something else made by an amateur and choose whichever. ~\(o v o)/~

The way he changed the color scheme on the body basically says that the first was perfect except for a few small features and the body type, something that MatPat hasn't really focused on except for the strength in the legs and the fact that it should look fem.

I feel like the "hair" feathers are too long. That length would look more appealing on a taller pokemon, which is the main thing you've missed both times, height. Id be willing to bet if you'd made them both taller then he'd be more likely to smash. His biggest reactions were to tall, slender, powerful, feminine designs.

Fnaf series but it's just Matt tryna find Mark a Pokemon he'd smash
I was bored, so I made my own chart tracking my favorite pokemon to decide which one was my overall favorite. In the end, the pokemon that I ended up with was Hisuian Zoroark. It was the only hisuian pokemon but it fit every category (even if i had to stretch some). Favorite region was a tie between sinnoh and unova, so a unova pokemon in ancient sinnoh was perfect. favorite type was ghost, Hisuian Zoroark is part ghost. my favorite design is antromorphic canine (Dogs, wolf, fox, etc.) finally, my favorite color is white and red is in the top four. I'll reply to this after Scarlet and Violet to let you know if my favorite change.

As an artist, and someone who's really into design principles, color theory, etc., this really makes me smile. Its so much fun to see the design proccess you went through, and the concept sketches are a fun look into behind the scene stuff! Thanks for making this, even if Mark doesn't smash lol

Honestly I liked the concept sketches more than the the final thing they’ve just more attractive with cleaner sharper proportions and they also have more dominating poses. I also think you could have just taken your joke design more seriously. It actually is an appealing combo of flowing elements mixed with feminine feelings sharp and pointy ones. Even the color scheme works really well.

Yeah I feel that the sketches look extremely better than the final product, sad they didn't one of them.
as a 2d concept lead artist, the silhouette/shape of what they were going for got lost on the final output. the final outputs are nicely rendered but i definitely agree that the sketches were more dynamic and appealing. the waist and neck were the biggest give away, the torso is too heavy in shape design and the pose looks stiff. the same applies to their first character from the previous video.

Everyone over at the theorist team is so talented and dedicated! For the 2nd attempt pokemon I immediately though of the name *"Kahetava"* a mix of the hawaiian words Ava - loosely meaning a bird, Etana - meaning strong, Kahuna - the hidden secret and Kahoni - meaning the kiss

Character design artist here! Kudos to the artist, they did great with the info they were given! However, I think a really neat design would have been making the lay around their neck some kind of neck feather hackles- type thing. Like some birds have. Also, shape language is super important. Mark seems to enjoy Pokemon who’s heads are smaller, torsos are larger, and feet are small, like a pear, with large hair behind said hair shape. Either way, neat design!

Honestly, I found every single one of those "early concept designs" to be orders of magnitude more smashable than the final Pokemon...
Frankly it feels more like Matpat is trolling with how blatantly bad he's made these.
The artist is not bad as you can see in the sketches, but is clearly having troubles with digital art, you can see the final version lose the gesture, the strengh of the stroke becomes none existent, and even some anatomy properly done in the sketch gets thrown off the window
