      If I was in a top 40s cover group or something, it's probably not possible to hang onto the same keyboard for more than a couple years. I'm not. I just want to record my CDs at home and not answer to anybody about the content or how dated it is. I LOVE That Krome and I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but mainly for the pianos. They aren't that expensive, but I have more than I need with the Triton. So old, it has a floppy drive. :)

    • @ShallRemainUnknown
      @ShallRemainUnknown Před 3 lety

      The Triton (Classic/Rack/Studio/Extreme models, LE/TR could be upgraded) wasn't solely a "ROMpler" because it came standard as a full SAMPLER with A/D audio inputs, up to 64/96MB RAM (depending on model), Akai/WAV/AIFF sample import, and full sample editing facilities on its large touchscreen, and mass storage capabilities (SCSI/CF Card/USB, depending on model). So, you could load new waveforms, sample your own (through 5 fx processors, if you want), and run the samples through the synth engine just like the ROM waveforms.

  • @oneworld9071
    @oneworld9071 Před 3 lety +3

    The authenticity of MANY instruments in Triton is stunning...... I think the big challenge is learning to play the instrument with the proper "touch", or maybe even "embouchure", although that term is pretty specific to wind and brass instruments....... it's one thing to play a trumpet sample as you would a piano, and quite another to be able to translate expression from mouth to hand to get a convincing trumpet performance. Regardless, in terms of modeled acoustic instruments, Triton is phenomenal and especially for its technical age.

If there's a hardware synth out there with more bang for your bucks, I've yet to hear it. Bit like the Triton - really ballsy dynamic sounds! Hi there
    I explored the topic of midi and the banks in the Triton VST, and based on information in the appendix of the original Triton manual and some further ”trial and error”, I want to share, that MSB for all banks are 000, LSB for Factory banks 000-003, for Card banks 008-016, and for User banks 032-035. PC for all banks are the usual 000-127.
    So you can easily and immediately call up from your keyboard any address on f.ex. the 2176 Combi set-ups.
    To me this is important and “good news”, especially regarding the User banks.
    Even with the "old" and not very "distinct" or "dynamic" sounds, I agree that especially the combis in this VST are fabulous and really nice to play with.
    Good day.

  • @madness8556
    @madness8556 Před rokem

    Congratulations on your fabulous video! I owned a fully maxed out Triton Classic with MOSS board and EXB01 and EXB02 expansions along with 64MB sampling RAM and SCSI option. I used its excellent onboard sequencer to create full music productions on just that instrument and a fully expended Roland XV3080. I could not stand the Triton's factory acoustic piano programs and I'm convinced that Korg deliberately put in those crappy sounds in order to sell their EXB01 and EXB08 piano expansion cards. The acoustic and electric pianos in the EXB01 are a huge improvement, as are the orchestral sounds in the EXB02. The Triton Classic really should have included those extra sounds and waveforms as standard! The MOSS board was a fantastic addition but it didn't sound as good as my 18 voice Korg Z1. I've now got both the Triton and Triton Extreme plug ins and they're excellent value, especially because they include all the expansions as standard.

    The Triton Extreme was more like a deep blue/navy color than black. I played with one that was on clearance at Guitar Center after the M3 came out. I sort of regret not buying it; the price was ridiculously low and the keyboard felt good. Quite a few people on the old Harmony Central KSS forum were fans of the MOSS board. I did own a M3M with the Radias and expansion ram boards for a while. I liked it but it cried for a dedicated keyboard, so I bought a Kronos first version and sold it. Later I sold the Kronos and went workstation-free with just a 88-key MIDI controller.

    2:36 Everytime I use the browse feature and I choose a preset I cant play notes with my laptop keyboard like I can with all other vsts until I either click the vst toolbar or click the section where the preset name is (where it says write, menu) (I'm in FL Studio).
    It does work with midi keyboard but not with laptop keyboard the way I explained. Anyone know why? The plugin is vst3 64 bit and my daw is 64bit.

    I love your video presentations, Woody, and this one about the Korg Triton was really informative and made me get the VST.
    Perhaps you (or someone else) can help me with this problem:
    I use MIDI control for as many parameters as possible. Using program change on the Triton VST only calls up the programs (or combis) in the Factory Bank A. One should think it possible to use PC and bank messages to get access to other banks, especially the user banks, but it seems that unlike the original keyboard, there is no way of using bank messages on the VST? And there is no information in the manual about bank messages for choosing the other banks.
    Can that be right? I want to be able to use PC messages to choose programs/combis in the user banks.
    The alternative is to save every set-up separate in my DAW and use the good BOME Midi-Translator to choose the exact right one, but that will take a lot of time, and if the first mentioned problem was solved, it wouldn’t be necessary.
    Thanks.

      i'm sorry, i've never really understood midi program change, let alone bank change LSB MSB etc. But I have noticed that it's possible, because when I made bank changes on the hardware triton and recorded it, the plugin responded!

      @@WoodyPianoShack Thanks for a quick reply :-) But I don't have the hardware Triton and still don't know, how to make PC changes in the different banks. If it indeed is possible to use bank change messages, where would you find the right numbers and entrances?

    • @trimle4
      @trimle4 Před 2 lety

      Hi again Woody
      Thanks for your interest. I was thinking, if you can change banks in the VST from your hardware, you may be able to see, what bank messages it is sending (MSB + LSB). I would be happy to get those numbers for the different banks. Is that possible?

    Hi Woody; great video... here's a question. I own an Korg triton and wonder if it is possible to "create" a sound in the VST and then somehow transfer it to the triton internal memory ( I figure the "user" folder)?. I know it could be done via sysex file transfer but instead use the midi connection? That way I could work and store sounds and banks on the vst but use them directly on the keyboard off line. Greetings from Chile!!

    Woody, I bought the Triton VSTi the moment it released (never a question about it in my mind - I used to own a Triton Studio keyboard and I've missed it for too long). One thing that puzzles me is why Korg included the Future Loops expansion in the VSTi. This particular expansion, in the original hardware keyboard, relied on the Triton's built-in sequencer to work - you could load 'songs' from the expansion into the onboard sequencer and then find ready-to-play loops (built from Future Loops hundreds of multi-samples) on each key of the keyboard. I haven't yet been able to figure out how to use Future Loops in the VSTi. They are just disconnected samples that still clearly form part of a loop, but there appears to be no way to get them to playback under one key like they used to. Am I missing something obvious? Any ideas? Nobody seems to know the answer - and, of course, absolutely no help from Korg about how Future Loops are supposed to be used in the VSTi.
    BTW, my all-time favorite Triton sound is 'Ascension'. Still *the* best pad sound I have ever owned, in any instrument or VSTi, ever (including Omnisphere 2), to date (I suspect it's the real reason I had to buy this VSTi!).
