I have that reel, i love it!!!! I also have a Shimano reel (ultralight) thats going on 25 years old? Its a combo i bought after a tornado riped up downtown laplata. Picked up tge combo for like 15$ i think it sold for 50 or so... its been my main rod and reel since.. (i trashed my old one catching a 52 inch striper that spring) love Shimano.. i think about 1/2 my reels are made by them.

Hey man. I just subbed. Love the content. Quick question, I was wondering if you can tell me what line you use or how your bait caster reels are spooled for other techniques than the frog. I've gotten into baitcasting last year and I use a mono backing then braid. I don't use any leader line at all. My braid is black. I did great last year with this setup but this year I am struggling a ton. Any advice? Thanks and keep up the great job.
What reel size did you get
*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

I was running the 1000 series for about 2 weeks and it felt like sand in the reel. Whatever grease they put on in china is almost corrosive. I recommend disassembling, degreasing, and regreasing metal to metal and oiling all the bearings and shaft. That way you are within the return window if you mess it up.

Thats how I got my rod. Found it at the pond.
Its a great beginner reel that does everything the more expensive one does, i upgraded the drag(10$) added a gomexus metal knob and reel stand(30$), no point in upgrading bearings theres alreadybushing supporting the main and drive gear, they wont rust. So for $60 all together it punches above its weight, imma use it for saltwater till it breaks or till i justify buying a vanford 3000.
Picked up 3 Pflueger Summit Xt25's paired with 3 Okuma Celilo 5'6" UL 2 Pc rods total combo weighs 10.1ozs . reel specs 6.7ozs 10bb 10lb drag braid ready Eva knob 5.2:1 and as smooth as I need it to be. Bawt thies in 2018 been using them exclusively since I've been angling for 34 yrs I fish hot/cold everything in between. I fish 13+ hrs every outing been out 23 times in 2020. 428 trout 559 Sunfish 152 Bass 12 Catfish. I've cawt thousands of fish an made hundreds of thousands of casts with this gear. I use primarily inexpensive gear. And thies combos are hands down without a doubt the absolute best rods/reels I've ever owned/used to date. Keep in mind I clean,inspect,lube an maintain all me gear myself for the last decade. The 3 reels I had prior to thies are all shelved due to line rollers either being deeply cut or being completely cut in 1/2 all Shakespeare. Long story short I'll never use/buy Shakespeare as long as I can help it haven't purchased any of it in more than five yrs. if your interested in a quality rod an reel go check thies out.

Sienna is a great reel for its price.. seen a local angler using an older sienna and he puts it to use, caught many big fish on it, 8-10 lbers it’s insane it holds up

My first reel was a Sienna. Since then I've bought some beast of reels, but I make it my business to buy every Sienna when it comes out. This year's model works, but it feels like cheaper material than previous years. Just doesn't feel like the older Sienna's. But, still catches fish tho.

Mono leaders are great. Amazing knot strength, a great shock absorber for big fish, and hard hook sets. Since you only use a small section of mono you still get amazing sensitivity from the braid. Unless your water is crystal clear I don't think the fish being line shy is a factor.

I think the shimano nasci is the best 100 dollar reel you can get it feels just like a stradic. That being said the Sedona and sienna are the best kept shimano secrets they really are great reels! Cheers man thanks for the swim bait rigging tutorial gonna try that tonight on some 5" rage swimmers!

Yo I'm so proud of my self when I was trying my mono to braid on my spinning real I tried the perfect double uni knot! And it may seem weird but I've been getting hit alot on wacky rigged drag n drops in natural color at almost every pond in allen.

I currently have 5 Shakespeare spinning reels out of commission due to fishing line either deeply or completely cutting the line rollers in 1/2. 3 of them have been used fairly heavely and 2 of them are brand new sitting in original boxes. Its a shame cuz all thies reels have plenty of life left in them and are now paper weights due to a shady company using cheap/soft materials for the line rollers in this case. 2 are new an if I cleaned up the other 3 they could pass for new. Lately if been doing homework/research on all the gear I buy/use I need my $ to go the distance not spending it using gear once an throwing it out cuz something as little as a line roller failing takes it out.
Have you ever tried the fg knot for leaders? I started using it and I’ll never go back! So much thinner and stronger.

I kinda use both everyday with how much I film for the channel 😂 bassforecast always has me curious even though I go out anyways, but fishbrain is SO useful for seeing which ponds have bass in the area I happen to be in

You could buy a good rod and reel for cheaper, and catch any fish you want. It's not about the gear. Its the skills, really.
