    Ever bought a 19" unit that didn't fit in 19"? But you are completely right! This is the 1176 on a budget! Much better than the Warm i believe...

      Hahaha, surprisingly yes, but it was a weird rack that had a tray installed. It wouldnt fit a midas L10 which fits snug in the racks for sure. This thing goes hard though, It's getting regular use in the studio.

    Ha! I just got one of these THIS WEEK! So far so good! It sounds better than my plugins for sure and the price was a no brainer!

      Yeah I’m going to do a dedicated plugin comparison next week. Keen to see the results. No doubt in my use it sounds better than plugins though. Heaps of vibe. Maybe a bit dark on somethings. Loving it though. What are you using it on mostly?

    Have one. So cheap. Meter calibration a nightmare to the point in our one the meter doesn’t work at all. But it actually sounds good and living without the meter for now.

    • @diyrecordingstudio
      @diyrecordingstudio Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yeah the meter calibration was super sensitive to adjust. Crazy tricky to get it right. Bit like playing a skill tester game or something. Hahaha. Luckily mine works though.
      Great unit, I’m sure there’s a fix for yours somehow. I have. An ssl comp that has a broken meter. I kinda like not having it. Forces me to just use my ears.

      @@diyrecordingstudio agree about using the ears. Lucky you getting the meter to work though!

    I got me one and it's so wicked on snare. Everything really.

      @diyrecordingstudio Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah mine lives on snare too mostly. Vocals in tracking too. I would get a pair but they’re on back order.

    To me the Lindall clone is too far off the original, then 500 bucks is still a lot to me, just like the Warm Audio it just doesn’t hit the sweet spot for me. Okay double the price for a Stam Audio but then you get a really good clone with three revisions (A, D and G) also the Audioscape 76A is a really good clone. Now on sale for 900 bucks is a steal to me and they sound really amazing. For really low budgets I always recommend the FMR RNC comps which are great for the price, they don’t look so nice but they can do mono and stereo (not dual mono) and sound pretty decent 😊

    nice one! you could open it so we can see the electronics if it doesn't void your warranty... Cheers from Brazil!

    Thanks for the video. One thing, why on earth use an external 12V power adaptor? I'm not a fan of it. The Lin2A, LA2A copy, has a normal IEC power connection. It will be great to hear the audio examples in your next video.
    Thanks Mitch

      Yeah I would rather not have the line lumps. They can create noise problems. It surely is just a cost thing. Cheaper to source a generic power supply than build it into a board I guess?

    Klark Teknik is cheaper... in most parts of the world.

    • @diyrecordingstudio
      @diyrecordingstudio Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah unfortunately in Australia we have crazy things with prices and distributors. The KT-76 is like $600 here. This was a lucky deal that was happening with an online distributor.
      Have you got the Klark Teknik one? I’ve heard good things potentially.

    • @christianutter5383
      @christianutter5383 Před 3 měsíci

      @@diyrecordingstudio Yeah, the Aussie tax is real =). I've actually had both Lin76 and KT76. Sold my KT76 for a profit after the prices went up ~160€ since release. Still have the Lin76. Lindell Audio's yt channel has a comparison with these two + other clones.

      was gonna ask same thing. Have seen many a klark technic unit s/h for the price of a bag of chips in the uk. Not to gloat, but it's more a comment on the price of food than anything else.
