This video is getting way more attention than I'm used to so I want to point out a few things:
    1. Go to 7:36 to see the opening of the coin in the thumbnail
Once you've seen that, read on...
    2. I am aware of the Euro. I have found euro 1 and 2 cent coins in rolls before, but had never seen a 10 cent euro coin until now.
    3. While coin roll hunting in the U.S., it is out of the ordinary to find foreign coins in the rolls, especially foreign coins that are shaped differently than the denomination that you are hunting. That is why this was so surprising to see.
    4. Although very rare, it is not entirely unheard of to find gold while coin roll hunting. When I saw the color and shape of the coin in the roll at 7:45, I immediately recalled posts like these and was thinking today might be my lucky day:
    - www.treasurenet.com/forums/coin-roll-hunting/92163-gold-baby-no-joke.html
    - www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/63227-found-10-gold-first.html
    5. I've also gotten a lot of general questions about the hobby of coin roll hunting on this video. For more information on coin roll hunting (how do I get coins, what do I look for, what do I do with the coins afterwards, etc.) please check out this coin roll hunting tutorial video: czcams.com/video/fH7Q8ntlWJY/video.html
    6. Thanks for checking out my videos, and happy hunting!

@@koenstruik5001 I know it's a coin belonging to the euro "family" and thus coming from Europe, but despite the diplomatic union between the different countries, every country still has its own mint. In Italy there indeed exists the IPZS, also called "Zecca" as abbreviation in italian, that moulds the various coins with different designs, one of which is the one you can see here. In my wallet i can find cents coming from France and Germany because money literally travel, but this coin in particular was actually produced in Italy and then exported.

@@hamiltoncollections6282 I have my facts quite straight.
All 10 euro cent coins have a common reverse side and country-specific national sides.
The 10 euro cent coin specific of Italy is the one depicting the face of venus from "The birth of Venus" by botticelli, and an engraving of the letters RI that is "Repubblica Italiana" or Italian Republic.
In the Irish version it is represented an Irish harp, emblem of Ireland, and vertically the word Éire, that is Ireland in Gaeilge, or Irish to say
I repeat, although you can find this coin in your wallet, that doesn't mean that it was printed in your country. Every nation inside the EU has its own mint, and consequently it was given to each one of them a unique design resembling an important national symbol

I have been collecting coins for years in the past, I was more of an ancient coin collector (Very old coins). I know every single Euro out of the top of my head and the 10 Euro Cent is an italian version (RI stands for Regno Italia). Period: 2002-2019, 4,1 gr 19,75 mm and 1,93mm thick. Made of a copper alloy. Value: ~0,11 Dollar.

Great information! I know by now that this one is from Italy, I’m really surprised at the amount of people in the comments who think it’s from France. Any idea why so many people think that? A lot of them seem to mistake the “RI” for RF” so that might be it.

    • @TheWonderingMan
      @TheWonderingMan Před 5 lety

@@QuinsCoins I think it is due the renaissance art used by both countries. The italian coins have always the RI mark of approval by the state, an old tradition now mostly used to take them apart. An easy way to see the difference; the italian mark has always the two letters one above the other, while the french ones always have RF.

There's 28 countries, has been for 6 years.
That coin you have is Italian. It was minted in 2002, the date is neatly stamped on the reverse face. Also on that face is the "Birth of Venus". One of the most famous paintings in the world, and a bit of a hint to the coin's origin, was painted by Sandro Botticelli. An Italian.
But really there's no way to tell where it's from...

That 10 euro cent coin is minted in Italy.
In the EU, all members may mint their own coins (of course, with strict regulations and whatnot) and add their own "head" to it.
    Some examples of this:
    - In The Netherlands, we had Queen Beatrix (our former queen) on it but since 2014, we have King Willem-Alexander on it (our current king).
    - Germany has the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) on it.
    - Belgium had King Albert II on it but since 2014, they have King Philippe on it.
    - France has a "unique" graphic on it (designed specifically for the 10 cent coin)
    - Ireland has a Celtic harp on it (I didn't know Ireland was part of the EU?)
    - Spain has King Miguel de Cervantes on it.
    - Italy has Venus from "The Birth of Venus" (Nascita Di Venere) on it.
Even though I'm not a coin collector, I find it interesting to know where a particular coin may have originated from (which is why I know this stuff) :)
