Gus, you're probably right. A week would be about the perfect time frame. I'm looking to get back down there at least once more if not twice more this year. Pretty sure it'll become an annual thing. It was a ton of fun and I learned A LOT.
Mario, thanks for showcasing West Virginia's Hatfield and McCoy trails. I'm not much of a trail rider but, I've been to a few of the trails and had a good time. Living in southern WV myself, the trails are fairly close for me. Good video!
Beautiful area to ride. My dads from Hazard KY, So we have relatives all over Virgina,West Virgina,Tennessee, Ohio and Kentucky use to go every year to visit when i was a kid. Love that area...
Definitely some fun places to ride and play in all of those areas you mentioned. Since my Hatfield McCoy sticker is good until the end of the year, I plan to get back down there once or twice more.

Well Well Well. I see you finally made to my home town of Man where I was born and raised. I have resided in the Roanoke, VA area for some time now. Great video, however, I've never ridden the H&M trails, we always ride on the trails we grew up on(don't have to pay). I'd like to share a little history of the town: Man is short for a guy named Hinchman. Don't know if you made it to Buffalo Creek, anyway, at the head of Buffalo Creek a coal mining damn in the early 70's broke. It was basically a sludge of mud that wiped out roughly 15 miles of homes. Many people died, entire families were killed, etc...My poor home town used to be "Almost Heaven", now it's known as "Heroin Haven". These are some of the best people you will ever meet, very kind, helpful, prideful, and friendly. If you ever go back, look me up, I'll take on some real trails there. Thanks for the vids!!!

Nice Video, looks pretty wet. I rode a CRF230F my first couple of times at Rockhouse, then a KTM250XCF for a couple of years. Now I have a KTM300XCW, which is a perfect bike for those trails. Not so perfect if you take the pavement from Gilbert back to Man

In theory Buffalo Mountain hooks up with Devil Anse which hooks up with RockHouse. That said, according to last month's map (they are updated monthly) a section of Devil Anse was closed so you couldn't actually ride all the way through. They guys I was with had ridden RockHouse before. I liked it but would like to check out another system on my next trip.
Now that's an adventure! I am going to get me a dual sport as soon as my Harley is paid off! Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Hey, I have a question: What is better for that kind of riding a two stroke or a four stroke?
I'm always gonna say 4-stroke especially when it comes to trail riding. IMO they are easier to ride and you also don't have to worry bringing oil along to mix in your fuel. I have nothing against the 2-strokes. They're awesome for racing, cheaper to rebuild and arguably easier to tune but...for trailing riding? I'll stick with the 4-stroke.
Nice compilation. Next project, put some proper shoes on the big KTM and head back there. You may want to stay away from the single track stuff with her though....
Tough to tell from the video but a lot of that single track (and I didn't film the toughest parts) was straight drop off on my left. The 1290 would be "interesting" out there. The biggest bike was came across was a KTM 525.
Hey, for future reference, I have found from my own experience the best camera mount location for off road is on the side or top of the helmet, with part of the helmet in the field of view. It has a mild stabilizing effect on the video. There's still some shake, but it's a little easier on the eyes. You can see a few of my videos on my channel. Try not to laugh at my utter lack of videographer skills compared to you ;-)
+driverdave1 appreciate the info. Since this video I’ve gone to helmet mount. I just didn’t have the time to come up with something for this one since my helmet has a ridge right down the center (ended up being a very simple fix to make it work). I’ll be sure to check out your vids.
Actually a combo of chest mount and handlebar mount. The big reason was/is my new Fly helmet has a damn ridge right down the middle of it so until I come up with some sort of solution, the camera shot who've been badly tilted. Also, I personally hate having a camera side mounted so that wasn't an option.It was shot on my older GoPros since I forgot the housing frame for the Hero5. Would've been nice to see what the built in image stabilization would've worked. I'm not so sure it would've been much more stable anyway with the crappy suspension on my 230 LOL!
I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out a mount with my Scorpion Helmet too. Bike mounting is out of the question doing hard off road. And Chest mount gives you a great shot of the handle bars. (Not what I want to be looking at). I think the best location is on the chin area of a helmet if it can be done. I don't have the patience to figure it out...I'll just watch your stuff!! lol
I'll be damned if I can figure out a way to chin mount it to my dirt bike helmet. I think Alaskan Dual Sport had some sort of chin mount but it would block ALL the air flow at that point so it's not really an option. I have some time before my next off road adventuring so hopefully I'm able to come up with a good solution. I'll be sure to share if I do.
@@2WR thanks, one last question, sorry, is the mud on these trails slick as goose poo or do you have some traction? Down here in Georgia, we have red clay and when it gets wet it can become like ice.

Yea. Most of the UTV/ATV trails will be fine on that bike

faith biker 2 strokes are a blast on the trails, especially a solid euro 250 or 300, plenty of lug down low and plenty of scream up top.

Is there a reason you choose chest mounted camera? It's very bouncy compared to helmet mounting when off road. Just curious...

You could get buy with an ADV bike on the ATV trails without much issue. Most are pretty wide and well-maintained.
