It really is Scott. but this was last years it was a members only video I made 3 public by accident so left them
I wish I could get stuff delivered right next to my plot - had to barrow in 6 ton of topsoil & 3 ton of manure last year from 100yds away.
People think I'm mad when they see the amount of compost I make until I point out that a mere 3cm layer over my 80m² of growing beds plus my 50/50 mix for potato containers works out at 3 cubic metres a year.
I'm 66 now & worry about how I'll be able to keep on doing all the work needed as i get older, as growing, fishing & hunting have been my life long passions & provide much of what I eat.
Crack on fella . I'll be you in 20 years, still barrowing trailer loads of manure or woodchips off the road outside
At our age we need to think of efficiencies, how to do more with less effort. My solution was grandchildren...

I used to make a lot of compost when I lived in Southeast Alaska. It was quite challenging as you might imagine because of lack of manure and temperature issues. I collected chicken manure from friends and the star ingredient-- seaweed. Buckets and buckets of seaweed! But you have to let it sit for a year. I live in New Mexico now and have health problems. I think I need to hire a teenager to be my compost "technician."

Get much rain over there Tony? Actually we're getting around 3" here near Philly in the States this week so won't be watering for a while. I guess you don't need a gym membership with all that shoveling. I'm getting to the age where I need to be careful with that heavy work anymore but I still do it slowly and carefully.
i can count the dry days on one hand since November

"I've got another 4 tons of manure coming" Blimey you use a lot of manure! Although it's heavy if wet.
I've stopped using manure here as I've been hit with aminopyralid in manure twice now. Luckily the second time I'd tested first and just had to get rid of it.
I'm trying to rely on regular compost now using a lot of coffee grounds and some chaff plus Autumn leaves as a base and of course garden and kitchen waste.
So far so good. I do use fish emulsion and seaweed solution too, so hopefully I'm covered. You got a good workout and a shower too.🤣

@@jimmyfaulkner5746 A silage fork is a wonderful thing that farmers use to move feed & bedding and all kinds of stuff. It's kind of a cross between a pitchfork and scoop shovel. It's way better than using a scoop shovel for turning compost. The brand that I mentioned is high quality, top of the line, built to last, with tines 16" long and 15" wide. The tines slide into the pile with very little effort, where a scoop shovel requires an extreme amount of effort. It's much, much easier on the body and it makes work a whole lot faster. It's the perfect tool to use for compost.

So where did the tons of manure come from? And what sort of manure is it? Is it free ?
The video is from last year and was only available to members at the time but i made it available to all. the manure came from a local organic dairy farm, its cow manure and i paid £30 for the whole load
