    Hi Chris and Becks, Chris it might be too late but maybe use your multi-tool or some kind of saw to cut the screws off first if you're getting rid of them it'll make it easier to get the wood off your hatches. Then maybe you could just glue the new wood on I've seen people do that. Becks take care of yourself đŸ€— Hope you have a great week.

    It may be a bit late now ,but when cutting out the slots in the Scaffold boards. It would be easier to Drill out most of the slot , after first cutting the straight sides with the multi tool. Just use a Drill with the right diameter,to fit the slot.

    Guys, just a long shot, but are you getting the water in after filling your water tank? I'm not familiar with how your water tank is, obviously, but it's just possible that water could get out of the air admittance valve (if there is one). This could happen if you have a tightly fitting hose end on the filling hole and there is nowhere for the pressure to escape to. Just maybe.
    You could fix the new hatch woods on with silicon - it'll seal against the elements and can be rather a good adhesive.

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  Pƙed 2 lety

      we haven't had any water in the tank for months, so any water coming I is ether rain or river, we do believe it is probably rain but you can never be to sure, yes we were originally told it was the water tank though with run a few tests and it really doesn't seam to be coming from there, thanks so much for your suggestions , yes my friend has already gives me a few tubs of adhesive for the hatches, seams the best option :)

    Hi. Have you considered that the hatch in the floor of the front cockpit is a weedhatch for the bowthruster. In your videos you show a square steel box going from the bowthruster tube to the cockpit floor. This may not have been blacked for a long time and is usually made of steel which could have started life when new at 4mm thick. I kindly suggest that all the boat including bowthruster tube and weedhatches and water tank are surveyed for thickness when you get the boat out of the water.
    Also the water pipes under the floor are not a good idea as any leak can not be seen.
    On the narrowboats that I have owned I have found leaking joints after winter even though the water was drained off to prevent damage from freezing.
    Good fortune and can we see a video down the weedhatch over the bowthruster propeller?

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  Pƙed 2 lety

      oh right...yeah I never thought of that, I did say to Becca how the hell its meant to be blacked, as obviously in time it will rust, yes were currently booked in for it to get looked at, but it will still be a few months, yes we are going to try to keep all the new pipes above the floor if we can, yes I will try and put some footage of the weed hatch up in the next vlog for you, I wasn't present at the boat when Becca and her dad were seeing to it so we only managed to get some mobile phone footage, but ill try my best to Russel through it and let you have a better look, thanks for you advise Simon :)

  • @bigKDL
    @bigKDL Pƙed 2 lety +1

    Why are you mucking about with side hatches when you haven't got to the bottom of your leak yet that is the only thing you should be concerned with you should have a canvas sheet over the cratch area the steps should be left open so the thruster tube area can breath and dry out and you should be in there with your scrapers and wire brushes cleaning it up so you can see what is going on nothing else matters as this is the only thing that could sink your boat

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      Becca has actually scraped under the bow thruster, but we do still need to treat it, were going to get someone professional to take a look if the leak continues, though we do feel we may have cracked it now, so we may not need to go down that route
