This "Crystal Comparison" video shows the differences between Rainbow Moonstone (White Labradorite) and Moonstone (Orthoclase) plus Opalite. / 106519096
Just saw this video and really been wanting to see these comparisons for a while. Thank you!!! Also I heard amazonite is part of the feldspar like sun stones. And I also see iolite mixed with sunstones. Blessings
Thank you for this. I recently purchased a rainbow moonstone pendulum and was interested to learn more about it. Mine does not have any black inclusions but does have a few small greenish-blue ones. They are such beautiful stones. I'd love to see a video comparing black stones like obsidian, onyx, tourmaline, hematite, jet, apache tears as they can be very tricky to tell apart without professional guidance. I've had a small black palm stone for years that I got from my mother and still am unsure what it is.
That is one that I will work on later. I want to do it justice. I know people are looking for visual ways to tell a crystal apart since one of the easiest methods (MOHS hardness) is not always an available option.
My favourite crystals. I love that raw piece. love raw crystals better than tumbled & polished. I also love your pillar 1. I'd love that much variety of moonstone. I have rainbow, white, peach, gray & what I was told is black moonstone but I've also been told it's not moonstone but it is a feldspar apparently, it shimmers colour like rainbow moonstone & labrodite. I think I might do some crystal work today. Thank for this video
Crystal Guidance yeah. I commented before I got to the end of your video. Yes its larkavite but I love it anyway. I'm so attracted to feldspar & fluorite crystals.
This was very helpful. I recently purchased a pair of small "Moonstone" cat figurines, but after watching your video I'm certain that they are in fact made of Rainbow Moonstone (White Labradorite), since they have the Black Tourmaline inclusions and characteristic blue-gold sheen of White Labradorite. Thank you for making me a bit smarter!
Thank you so much for this video! I bought two moonstone pillars today, but ended up a little confused on whether what i got was actual moonstone or just white labradorite! The shelf said rainbow moonstone, and some of the rocks were most definitely rainbow moonstone, however mine looks just like your moonstone pillar. When I purchased them, the woman said they were moonstone and gave me a moonstone card rather than the rainbow moonstone card, and I was super confused as to why they were on the rainbow moonstone shelf. The shelf above was only black moonstone. My crystals do not have that characteristic labradorite sheen or any black tourmaline specks, and it seems that I did indeed purchase real moonstone!
To me rainbow moonstone is deeply connected to intuition and psychic abilities, more than white or peach moonstone. Both have very confortable energy, and help to connect to cycles of life (Moon, féminine...). 💫
What about sunstone? I loooove labradorite & white labradorite, i also just got my first peach labradorite. I want ALL the flashy/sparkly/color shifting crystals! Lol
That was great, the more I learn, the less I know. 😏. But love knowing white labradorite and labradorite are that close. Thank you, love these videos. ❤️
I appreciate this video immensely... Trying to find myself a genuine moonstone ring for energy/spiritual purposes yet everywhere I read "authentic moonstone / rainbow moonstone" GOSH lol. Or that flash is in the marketing pictures! Thank you so much!! They aren't so sneaky after all... 🙌🌙🌠
This video was so helpful. Thank you so much! By any chance could you do a video comparing carnelian with red agate and fire agate. Also, please could you have one comparing heat-treated carnelian versus natural carnelian?
The optical effects are still well defined, plus rainbow moonstones formula may differ than the labradorites ones,so I consider them almost the same mineral
I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I have a piece that is white with the black tourmaline in it, like Rainbow Moonstone. However, it has the sheen & shine of Moonstone and it doesn’t have the blue shine like Rainbow Moonstone has. But it looks exactly like Rainbow Moonstone. I can provide pictures ^^
This video was very useful but I have a question if that's okay ! I recently bought a small, peach moonstone pendant and while looking at it I saw it had what resembled glitter/sparkles inside of it? I've been trying to work out if the moonstone is real or not because it doesn't stay cold for long and the sparkles threw me off. I bought other crystals from the same shop and they seem to be real, so I'm wondering if the sparkles are natural or if it's a fake crystal
So i just recently got proposed to with a white labradorire ring. I have a question. Is it okay for this stone to get wet? Like if i get in the shower and forget to take it off will it destroy it? I'm wanting to be very careful with it. So i can have it forever. Thanks for the help in advance. New subscriber here
I apologize for not getting to this much sooner. Yes, it sure can get wet. I have a Rainbow Moonstone (White Labradorite) that I wear all of the time including in the shower. Over 10 years later it still looks beautiful. Plus it loves the water.
Sorry Jen, another quesion can I wear Tibetan Quartz necklace with Moonstone necklace as well as the bracelets I asked you about before. I’d really appreciate your help.🙂
I have stones which for all intents and purposes look exactly like the ones on the Left except for one significant different the sheen is not nearly what those look to be. Instead the rainbow effect feels rather dulled compared to the bright blue I see images of everywhere. Its confusing me, is this an Indication that I have the type of Moonstone shown on the right and not the rainbow moonstone or is it just unlucky that the faces dont have a super great shine?
Not all Labradorite or White Labradorite (Rainbow Moonstone) will contain labradorescence (flash of color). Some may have a lot, some may have only a little or that is dull, or some may have none at all. That does not necessarily mean it is something else. Let me give an example: Quite a few Clear Quartz have internal rainbows in them, but not all. That doesn't mean that they are not still Quartz.
@@CrystalGuidance Ty, I am getting the flash in most all, even some color in most all. Since I wrote that I am sure what I have is proper but it almost never has that super intense blue color to the flash that most images I see online seem to contain. I took and cut and shaped a few with varying results. I am amazed that what my entire life I simply assumed was Quartz as I literally live in the middle of like 5 or 6 sand plants however it was not till recently my daughter wanted to find Peach moonstone that my search to find some clear "Quartz" crystals to create some tiny tuning forks out of caused me to find out that virtually every single stone around me ( >98-99%) are ALL moonstone. Different colors, etc but all Feldspars of both crystal structures. My favorite to cut and shape are these grey ones I always presumed were smokey quartz as they tend to display vivid rainbows similar to Opal. I have since found with very careful placement of my cuts and high polish I can get most all to produce some level of rainbow but rarely do I see raw stones produce the flash that vivid of a blue color. It tends to look more white or rainbowed in color. I think I will take some pictures and see if perhaps the camera enhances the flash a tiny bit which may be responsible for some of my confusion. Another part of my confusion was coming to terms with the fact that every rock I stepped over for years and considered ugly when cut properly looks as beautiful as they do.
Gray Moonstone has a schiller, but it does not have a purple sheen or flash of color to it like Labradorite can. I will add to my list to create a side-by-side of these crystals to help see the difference. I believe that seeing them helps us to learn to identify the differences better than simply trying to explain the differences.
Just excited i ordered myself a moonstone ring kinda wondering what i am going to get ? as i know they can be similar to rainbow on amazon ? x thanks for vid
Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while and know that rainbow moonstone and moonstone aren't the same just how you describe. So my question is, is Green moonstone and moonstone also cousins and not the same as i see that Green Moonstone is actually Garnierite. I read the green is made by Nickle which then confused me as to whether it was natural dyed moonstone by the nickle or if it is different like rainbow moonstone. I have piece that is green but has grey/black moonstone in it. (Which I now don't know if it's just smokey quartz within it)
Garnierite is not at all related to Moonstone. It is a a nickel-magnesium silicate. The reason that people call it Green Moonstone is because Garnierite often grows with Feldspar.
@@CrystalGuidanceoh OK do it's c8nokelty different and not even like a cousin, that makes sense. So the piece I have, the black/grey could still be moonstone, it's just the green that is the other stone. Thank you for your help, you are always so helpful
Unfortunately, no. I do not have Cat's Eye. I can only work with what I have. I have quite a variety, typically only 1 or 2 pieces for most stones, but there are some that I don't have like Cat's Eye. I always have it available that if someone wishes to donate an item they would like to see compared or reviewed then I would be more than happy to do it.
One day as time permits I will work on updating my list of what I have in my collection. Before I started selling I had a list of exactly what I had and how many. It hasn't been updated in probably 5 years. lol
Rainbow Moonstone is protective, especially when it has Black Tourmaline in it. I personally still prefer Labradorite as it protective of our energy and auric field due to it's display of colors.
I have a rainbow moonstone tumblestone.. with a lot of black tourmaline in there.. it doesn't have the blue shine to it.. but it has inclusions of blue tourmaline.. if the shine isn't there does it take some of the properties away from it? I've heard that the fact it does shine means it deflects negative energy & really protective because of this.. would that mean it is doesn't shine it isn't as protective? Sorry I'm not an expert with crystals but love working with them. Thank you for this video.
No, it does not take away from the properties if it does not have the flash of color. The same goes for Labradorite. The flashes are simply more desirable due to their beauty.
@@CrystalGuidance oh ok, thank you, that is good to know. I just love moonstone, I have every colour lol. It's just so beautiful & the energy is so light but empowering for myself. Blessings of peace to you from UK.
Energetically, yes it does have a connection to moon/lunar energy and the many attributes that are associated with the moon, much like regular Moonstone.

Spectrolite is a variety of Labradorite.

That is Labradorite. In the video I show it and explain why I included it in the video.

Yes.

Rainbow Moonstone is protective, especially when it has Black Tourmaline in it. I personally still prefer Labradorite as it protective of our energy and auric field due to it's display of colors.
