The reality is that most players will need to set personal boundaries for what they will and will not grind in p4 and on which characters. It isn’t easy for most WoW players to recognize that this is ok (myself included), but it’s been done many times in the past. Look at TBC back in the day, where most players needed to choose a main char to grind attunements on and accept that their alts would likely be used for farming profs, kara, and some lightweight pvp. Having lots of content options for players to choose from allows for players to choose what works best for them and keep the world feeling vast, however it will require players to make that decision rather than forcing Blizz to choose for them. That said, I hope basic mechanics for alts (like runes and some emerald faction items) are made easier to attain, due to the seasonal nature of the server.
tbc is a really good example. the attunements forced players to focus on one character. and yet the experience for most was very positive. i think you are onto something there. maybe pushing us to have mains for 3-4 weeks then add in some easier catchup with rep etc. or account wide attunes..emerald items etc like you say
i know it sounds ridiculous when you put it that way lol but the modern mmo business model has these drought periods where there's no content followed by a boom period where they get everyone back in. its not gonna change anytime soon but smoothing it out wouldnt be crazy
@@NOHITJEROME ye true mate! I was just trying be sarcastic. I think its possible to have a lot of content and be alt friendly. One thing retail does well with all the catchup mechanics. I think with classic we need to be careful though with catchup mechanics, it takes away the feeling of the 'journey'. But some minor things would be fine imo, since sod is experimental and not classic classic. One simple example is the rune where you have to kill all the Dark Riders around the world. I would not care if that rune is one you do once and unlock for all alts.
WOW players are simply IMPOSSIBLE to please so... 🤷♂️ Anyway... I'm sticking to Hardcore... Nice... Easy... And enjoyable!!! Even though the game is brutally unforgiving 😊 But at least you can level as many alts as you like, at a nice chillaxed pace 👍🏼
Yes, there is A LOT to do in P4. But having this much content will probably mean that you can go different directions for gearing. Some will go R10, some do the T0 questline, some will craft and some just farm gear in dungeons.

I feel like if they did anything less, then people would have said "P4 dead on arrival I am raid logging week 2". A lot of people wanted SOD to be their 'full time' game. This will be great. Excited to feel overwhelmed with choice.

Guys, the content is optional. Most of your pre BiS gear you can leverage with ST. The other items are such a minor upgrade it’s not even worth farming unless you are bored. It’s not as bad as you think
i like it but its very retail. one idea also would be acc wide tarnished coins. so you get them on 1 char you can use them on another. means you can pick any character to play on anytime

I mean the bosses will be instances but I feel they along with Onyxia count as a “raid”. You can crank out ony in a few minutes and that’s even for casuals. I’m stoked to have one toon to just get everything done on
make reps account wide (or have an automatic catch up mechanic that triggers for characters that have lower reputation than the highest rep held on your account) , make the tarnished coin account wide - that would make the phase more alt friendly to begin with. World bosses should be similar to WoD where they would respawn every 15 mins and had a universal tag + personal loot. Then we could focus on dungeons, pvp and raiding without feeling like our alts are being left behind.
acc wide reps feel very retail but the tarnished coins being account wide would be incredible. i love that idea because it lets you play any number of alts that fit best for the situation. id be swapping between 3-4 characters

Why dont they make a quest where you collect all the world buffs one time in a boon and bring it to Chromie or something. She then stores them and you can purchase them going forward with the currency from dungeon boss or the bew event. You can either run around and still collect them if thats your thing or purchase them. Maybe even a daily quest to go run a specific dungeon gets you a reward you turn into Chromie. Thoughts?
it's the best idea. i love the initial step of collecting them. and i love getting them from the vendor. and i like that you still would would get all the benefits/negatives of WBs. i think players would be happy
@@Keykeykadee it's a really great idea. at the very least you promoting that idea opens the door to more creativity with WBs. every raid lockout, a new set of WBs is available from chromie. costs ie 5 tokens + 1 chronobooned buff of some type that rotates. so every week its a different buff you have to bring her
It’s about the journey. We hear this all the time from players. Now there is a ton of content to journey through, so everyone should be happy. You don’t have to be all sweaty and do every grind every day/week. You don’t need to be in full BiS. You can experience the journey on many alts. Players should take their time and enjoy the game. If the content makes for a good journey, then enjoy it for what it is.
It is definitely going to be very very difficult not only levelling and grinding on my 6 alts, but definitely feel will only have main time for all the things for one maybe 2 alts to get to raid status with. Depending on the levelling grind and how long that takes. Will be able to get them all to 60, but doing the raid content, definitely less.
hi budgy, 6 alts is insane. i will do 2 characters at first. i think if you prequest now that's your best bet. can get all 6 to ~54 and then either blizz buffs leveling 2 weeks later or you just use rested experience on the rest

I don’t have a problem with the higher selection of raids to choose from personally. For people who lack self control, which, to be fair, is most wow players, (and let’s not ignore WHY they do. The subscription requirement pressures players to always be trying to get their money’s worth out of each single moment, and it’s a big reason I think it needs to go) I understand they’ll feel like they have to do all the raids each lockout, but I don’t think the game should be designed around that mindset. What I do narrow my eyes at, though, is the faster lockout reset schedule. I guess mop remix was testing this kind of change by having its raids be daily resets, but that didn’t feel overwhelming cuz the power scaling made heroic raids feel like a normal dungeon. A daily mop remix world tour didn’t take you much time. But you take a faster lockout schedule with the much more normal scaling of sod where you’re actually DOING the raids? THAT sounds overwhelming
I think this viewpoint is incorrectly assuming what WoW is… If there is little content for one character then there is little content for alts (alt friendly) So if it takes one character a ton of time to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve, then it will also take an alt a ton of time as well…, imo that is why the game is being played, not so we can do the same minimal steps on multiple characters but so that each character has the chance to be enriched in whatever new paths are afforded to us by the devs.
this is a good point. we all want an mmo that gives us meaningful progression. thats why i liked runescape so much. it's not a bad thing wow is going that direction
I dunno if I'm gonna do the rep farms on my main, let alone an alt, lol. At least there's a crap ton of content to do, no more raid logging for sunken temple. ^_^
Great video. I would say over 7 raid lockouts your maybe spending 4-5 hours doing them per week. Even with the gearing up process your going to be raid logging on 1 character in about 6 weeks, where as if they had less lockouts and content it would have been 3 weeks. After about 6 weeks your going to have plenty of time to get those alts caught up and with no more leveling by P5 it will be more alt friendly.
hi kalive, definitely a good point that 4-5 hours doesn't make it seem so bad. that's pretty much how much i spend in cata right now. the difference is in cata you aren't really forced to rank, it's a safe bet a lot of gear will be locked behind AV and ranking as well. but i hope you are right on p5, a very alt friendly bwl / zg would be perfect

Alts are not meant to be played when new content is out. A month or 2 into the phase it will be back to raid logging mainly until a new phase, you’ll have plenty of time for your alts then.
ptr is live id definitely recommend checking out the blackrock stuff if you get bored waiting for p4. pretty interesting dailies over there, and we saw kelris in one of the caves and he dust to dusted us lol
The two lockout per week is what's killing alts more than anything for me. It's such s fucking bummer. Give us weekly lockouts for everything instead of this live on sod shit
Did you get alts on vanilla ? Exalted on reps ect (Alteracect)? I didnt. Classic isn't retail and that makes it epic . But yeah its gonna be quite a lot
it's a true point. there is just not much time for alts in classic. but sod was all about playing a lot of alts and for the first time players have multiple characters at 50. so it's different somehow
Just wait a bit till after launch till they nerf all the grinding. I learned my lesson already, the people that grind their ass off early will regret it later on (exception of P3 incursions), since they will make things easier to obtain. Think about the Waylaid rep, Ratchet vendor, XP boosts etc.
I swear no matter what blizzard does people complain. Also I already know people with 2 characters at 60 in no way will alts be dead and having lots of content in the endgame can only be good what else would you want from a subscription game?
Jerome i love your v ids! but here's my take on t he alts, vs raid l-ock out system, imo people who have multiple alts (including myself) have way to much time in the game, either that or there's not enough content on mains, I would much rather have 2 raids a week mc, aq, naxx etc so my main can do the content and steam roll it, and for the small few people who can do all of that and manage an alt, then that is good for them (myself is included in here). I'd much rather have too much on a main that have to cater to an alt
just a few months ago ppl were wining about not enough get over it, there are what 6 max level dungeons and wrath is 13 lol the world tour is much less taxing and you dont need to do it for tier like wrath it is optional

Wtf blizzard. Easiest addictive fix ..random drops with random stats and at least 7 sets. People woild be forced to play non stop like gambling. Diablo style loot. How hard is it to make a game fun?
Me and the new guild I joined to tank for ended up quitting for P3 because it got extended, we found it to be very boring but we are returning for P4. Even though previous phases were alt friendly, I still couldn't find myself to be bothered with doing any alts beyond leveling casually here and there. I'll be sticking with tanking on my paladin because that's what I enjoyed doing and wanted to experience in a lvl 60 classic WoW setting. For World buffs, I think they could add an NPC you talk to where they grant you the buff whenever you talk to them and then you can boon them with the chronoboon displacer once you have all your appropriate buffs. This would solve the world pvp buff griefing imo too. I don't know if I will pvp grind to be honest. I did try to bring myself to grind rank 7 in P3, but I really just didn't have the drive to do it and stopped at rank 5. I don't really care about pvp and rolled on a PVE server anyways specifically to avoid wpvp buff griefing since I am more of a PVE andy. Kudos to everyone who does the grind though. World touring doesn't necessarily bother me, most players nowadays play a lot better than how people played back in the day, I still get amazed by some of the new things people do and bring to the table for speed-running and pushing content along with the amount of theorycrafting and min-maxing that happens in the class discords at times. Fight club in particular during 2019 classic was probably some of my fondest memories in all of my time playing WoW. Best case scenario is that it's successful and stays well above water. (I honestly would love to experience 40 man Naxx in SOD since Naxx 40 is one of my favorite WoW raids of all time) Worse case scenario is SOD crashes and burns at phase 4, which if it does...there is other games to play in my free time anyways.
hi karimathras - glad you are returning for p4. it's definitely going to be a good time tanking on the paladin, you get to be one of the first ever to do it at 60. as for world buffs, i love the idea of an NPC selling world buffs. ie you kill 3 dungeon bosses you get 1 world buff token. as for the pvp grind, the question will be whether the gear is required for pve. i don't see them adding resil, so I'm curious what the stats will be like. i'm glad world tours don't bother you, frankly I look forward to doing all the dungeons with the boys. there aren't really other games to play other than elden ring for me. just going to have to lock myself in the basement for a while lol

Is it just me or aren’t we really getting anything groundbreaking new, other than the Eruption event? I mean yes, there is updated gear, world bosses and a new dungeon, but It still feels like they still lacked a lot of creativity. With the millions they have, they should be able to come up with some more exciting things than just repeating the same content over and over again? I’ve never done ST, since I didn’t want to just stick around for that raid in P3, but I heard that there is a boss that swaps every week for another? Wouldn’t it be fairly easy to have some more variety in the upcoming raids to have such a system? More bosses or mechanics inside to keep it kind of random and interesting? With certain exciting and unique loot? Or even some fun side activities or mini games? To bring people together and keep them entertained if they don’t feel like raiding or redoing the same dungeon 10 times a day? I don’t know, it still feels a bit bland and just a tedious sweat (rep) farm to get your set together, just to do it again when the next raid comes out.

Rather play cata for easy pvp can be casual and then save energy for war within just hope the nerfing and buffing doesn’t happen as often as dragonflight , like twice a week sometimes just too much
ya cata is really nice right now raidlog/pvp when you want..very chill. WW will be good as well. nice thing is there is a lot to play if you are a wow fan. sod is just one of 3 choices

The thing that I HATE with a passion is pointless rep grinding aka killing furbolgs for 24h + just to get a recipe, if they are bringing more of it, I'm out, I don't just want the rep to give better stuff, I want it not to be time consuming and boring like it usually is. It always feels like a horrible waste of time. One of the main reasons you make alts is for more professions, this need would be reduced if they gave you 3 (or more) profession slots instead of the regular 2.
@@NOHITJEROMEi think blizz expect warlocks to just shadowbolt volley, even if we had seed, mobs die too fast in st, and we would lose dmg not having just casted shadowbolt volley, would be nice to have an aoe dot like spriest does for pvp, we can't crank out the same multidot pressure like they can...though next phase we can run soul link with nightfall so I'll try running shadowbolt volley for pvp and spamming corruption.

I MUCH prefer this style of content. Having a lot of stuff to grind out on 1 character is much more akin to vanilla. I like having a main. Making alts, well, alts again and not completely finished characters is better imo. Also it is a nice safety net against FOTM rerolling. As someone who played alliance in SOD, the amount of shaman fotm re rolling that happened made me never want to queue up bgs, nearly every single one was MINIMUM 3 shaman, with the highest I saw being 8 of them in AB. Complete clown show.
yeah the big complaint in p1 was that it was all about unfinished alt characters and fotm rerolls. now you are getting the true 2004 style with 1 character focused on. nobody fotm rerolling at least once july 11 hits. right now EVERYONE is trying to figure out whats overpowered lol

To be fair we dont know the level of entry for MC or the heat levels. As far as we know you can do MC as a fresh 60 and Heat 3 will be nothing but BiS needed. And if you have issues with how you might need to rep grind and do multiple world bosses a week to do higher heat levels then keep in mind then the content wasnt made for you. It would be like if a retail player who only does Raidfiner and Normal mode complained how they cant do Mythic raid on one or more characters without putting in the minimal time. And if your mindset is "I need to do every bit of content as fast and as much as I can" and call yourself a casual player, I'm sorry your not a casual player.
The "completionist" mentality needs to go...anybody that isn't pushing for BIS and parsing and maxing literally everything is called a filthy casual...bro you can have alts and guess what, you can set your own goals in the game. Make the turn in to chromie a weekly quest that resets each week. You have to collect the WBs only 1 time each week.

@@Keykeykadee it's a really great idea. at the very least you promoting that idea opens the door to more creativity with WBs. every raid lockout, a new set of WBs is available from chromie. costs ie 5 tokens + 1 chronobooned buff of some type that rotates. so every week its a different buff you have to bring her
im fine with the content overload. I like the idea of wiping out world buffs in any way they are zero fun to get
yeah i agree a new solution for WBs would be amazing. they are definitely fun to play with..but getting them is another story

It’s about the journey. We hear this all the time from players. Now there is a ton of content to journey through, so everyone should be happy. You don’t have to be all sweaty and do every grind every day/week. You don’t need to be in full BiS. You can experience the journey on many alts. Players should take their time and enjoy the game. If the content makes for a good journey, then enjoy it for what it is.
It is definitely going to be very very difficult not only levelling and grinding on my 6 alts, but definitely feel will only have main time for all the things for one maybe 2 alts to get to raid status with. Depending on the levelling grind and how long that takes. Will be able to get them all to 60, but doing the raid content, definitely less.
hi budgy, 6 alts is insane. i will do 2 characters at first. i think if you prequest now that's your best bet. can get all 6 to ~54 and then either blizz buffs leveling 2 weeks later or you just use rested experience on the rest

I don’t have a problem with the higher selection of raids to choose from personally. For people who lack self control, which, to be fair, is most wow players, (and let’s not ignore WHY they do. The subscription requirement pressures players to always be trying to get their money’s worth out of each single moment, and it’s a big reason I think it needs to go) I understand they’ll feel like they have to do all the raids each lockout, but I don’t think the game should be designed around that mindset.
What I do narrow my eyes at, though, is the faster lockout reset schedule.
I guess mop remix was testing this kind of change by having its raids be daily resets, but that didn’t feel overwhelming cuz the power scaling made heroic raids feel like a normal dungeon. A daily mop remix world tour didn’t take you much time.
But you take a faster lockout schedule with the much more normal scaling of sod where you’re actually DOING the raids? THAT sounds overwhelming
I think this viewpoint is incorrectly assuming what WoW is… If there is little content for one character then there is little content for alts (alt friendly) So if it takes one character a ton of time to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve, then it will also take an alt a ton of time as well…, imo that is why the game is being played, not so we can do the same minimal steps on multiple characters but so that each character has the chance to be enriched in whatever new paths are afforded to us by the devs.
this is a good point. we all want an mmo that gives us meaningful progression. thats why i liked runescape so much. it's not a bad thing wow is going that direction

I don't mind at all. I've never been keen on playing alts anyway. I always liked to invest all my time and efforts in a single character.

Great video. I would say over 7 raid lockouts your maybe spending 4-5 hours doing them per week. Even with the gearing up process your going to be raid logging on 1 character in about 6 weeks, where as if they had less lockouts and content it would have been 3 weeks. After about 6 weeks your going to have plenty of time to get those alts caught up and with no more leveling by P5 it will be more alt friendly.
hi kalive, definitely a good point that 4-5 hours doesn't make it seem so bad. that's pretty much how much i spend in cata right now. the difference is in cata you aren't really forced to rank, it's a safe bet a lot of gear will be locked behind AV and ranking as well. but i hope you are right on p5, a very alt friendly bwl / zg would be perfect
I'd think the worldbosses will be so easy you can just pug them and skip lockouts if the gear isn't worth it

Alts are not meant to be played when new content is out.
A month or 2 into the phase it will be back to raid logging mainly until a new phase, you’ll have plenty of time for your alts then.

The two lockout per week is what's killing alts more than anything for me. It's such s fucking bummer. Give us weekly lockouts for everything instead of this live on sod shit

Did you get alts on vanilla ? Exalted on reps ect (Alteracect)? I didnt. Classic isn't retail and that makes it epic . But yeah its gonna be quite a lot
it's a true point. there is just not much time for alts in classic. but sod was all about playing a lot of alts and for the first time players have multiple characters at 50. so it's different somehow

Just wait a bit till after launch till they nerf all the grinding. I learned my lesson already, the people that grind their ass off early will regret it later on (exception of P3 incursions), since they will make things easier to obtain. Think about the Waylaid rep, Ratchet vendor, XP boosts etc.

Jerome i love your v ids! but here's my take on t he alts, vs raid l-ock out system, imo people who have multiple alts (including myself) have way to much time in the game, either that or there's not enough content on mains, I would much rather have 2 raids a week mc, aq, naxx etc so my main can do the content and steam roll it, and for the small few people who can do all of that and manage an alt, then that is good for them (myself is included in here). I'd much rather have too much on a main that have to cater to an alt
just a few months ago ppl were wining about not enough get over it, there are what 6 max level dungeons and wrath is 13 lol the world tour is much less taxing and you dont need to do it for tier like wrath it is optional

Yeah it's too much... I won't be playing. It was much better when it was simple and alts were doable. This is ridiculous. People have jobs and lives outside of wow.
the problem is in p1 the complaint was the game was forcing alting because there wasn't enough to do on 1 character. now it's the opposite. middle ground is very difficult

Now it's too much and most of us just don't have time for it. 20 man's already hurt raiding in SOD. Add all this in.. and idk, seems like it's gonna make it crumble. Wtf blizzard. Easiest addictive fix ..random drops with random stats and at least 7 sets. People woild be forced to play non stop like gambling. Diablo style loot. How hard is it to make a game fun?

Me and the new guild I joined to tank for ended up quitting for P3 because it got extended, we found it to be very boring but we are returning for P4. Even though previous phases were alt friendly, I still couldn't find myself to be bothered with doing any alts beyond leveling casually here and there. I'll be sticking with tanking on my paladin because that's what I enjoyed doing and wanted to experience in a lvl 60 classic WoW setting.
For World buffs, I think they could add an NPC you talk to where they grant you the buff whenever you talk to them and then you can boon them with the chronoboon displacer once you have all your appropriate buffs. This would solve the world pvp buff griefing imo too.
I don't know if I will pvp grind to be honest. I did try to bring myself to grind rank 7 in P3, but I really just didn't have the drive to do it and stopped at rank 5. I don't really care about pvp and rolled on a PVE server anyways specifically to avoid wpvp buff griefing since I am more of a PVE andy. Kudos to everyone who does the grind though.
World touring doesn't necessarily bother me, most players nowadays play a lot better than how people played back in the day, I still get amazed by some of the new things people do and bring to the table for speed-running and pushing content along with the amount of theorycrafting and min-maxing that happens in the class discords at times. Fight club in particular during 2019 classic was probably some of my fondest memories in all of my time playing WoW.
Best case scenario is that it's successful and stays well above water. (I honestly would love to experience 40 man Naxx in SOD since Naxx 40 is one of my favorite WoW raids of all time)
Worse case scenario is SOD crashes and burns at phase 4, which if it does...there is other games to play in my free time anyways.
hi karimathras - glad you are returning for p4. it's definitely going to be a good time tanking on the paladin, you get to be one of the first ever to do it at 60.
as for world buffs, i love the idea of an NPC selling world buffs. ie you kill 3 dungeon bosses you get 1 world buff token.
as for the pvp grind, the question will be whether the gear is required for pve. i don't see them adding resil, so I'm curious what the stats will be like.
i'm glad world tours don't bother you, frankly I look forward to doing all the dungeons with the boys. there aren't really other games to play other than elden ring for me. just going to have to lock myself in the basement for a while lol

Is it just me or aren’t we really getting anything groundbreaking new, other than the Eruption event?
I mean yes, there is updated gear, world bosses and a new dungeon, but It still feels like they still lacked a lot of creativity. With the millions they have, they should be able to come up with some more exciting things than just repeating the same content over and over again? I’ve never done ST, since I didn’t want to just stick around for that raid in P3, but I heard that there is a boss that swaps every week for another? Wouldn’t it be fairly easy to have some more variety in the upcoming raids to have such a system? More bosses or mechanics inside to keep it kind of random and interesting? With certain exciting and unique loot?
Or even some fun side activities or mini games? To bring people together and keep them entertained if they don’t feel like raiding or redoing the same dungeon 10 times a day?
I don’t know, it still feels a bit bland and just a tedious sweat (rep) farm to get your set together, just to do it again when the next raid comes out.

Rather play cata for easy pvp can be casual and then save energy for war within just hope the nerfing and buffing doesn’t happen as often as dragonflight , like twice a week sometimes just too much
ya cata is really nice right now raidlog/pvp when you want..very chill. WW will be good as well. nice thing is there is a lot to play if you are a wow fan. sod is just one of 3 choices

The thing that I HATE with a passion is pointless rep grinding aka killing furbolgs for 24h + just to get a recipe, if they are bringing more of it, I'm out, I don't just want the rep to give better stuff, I want it not to be time consuming and boring like it usually is. It always feels like a horrible waste of time. One of the main reasons you make alts is for more professions, this need would be reduced if they gave you 3 (or more) profession slots instead of the regular 2.

@@NOHITJEROMEi think blizz expect warlocks to just shadowbolt volley, even if we had seed, mobs die too fast in st, and we would lose dmg not having just casted shadowbolt volley, would be nice to have an aoe dot like spriest does for pvp, we can't crank out the same multidot pressure like they can...though next phase we can run soul link with nightfall so I'll try running shadowbolt volley for pvp and spamming corruption.

it's very wotlk / cata esque. seemed to be positively received in those expansions. but it means you have to do a LOT more grinding per character
I MUCH prefer this style of content. Having a lot of stuff to grind out on 1 character is much more akin to vanilla. I like having a main. Making alts, well, alts again and not completely finished characters is better imo. Also it is a nice safety net against FOTM rerolling. As someone who played alliance in SOD, the amount of shaman fotm re rolling that happened made me never want to queue up bgs, nearly every single one was MINIMUM 3 shaman, with the highest I saw being 8 of them in AB. Complete clown show.
yeah the big complaint in p1 was that it was all about unfinished alt characters and fotm rerolls. now you are getting the true 2004 style with 1 character focused on. nobody fotm rerolling at least once july 11 hits. right now EVERYONE is trying to figure out whats overpowered lol

To be fair we dont know the level of entry for MC or the heat levels. As far as we know you can do MC as a fresh 60 and Heat 3 will be nothing but BiS needed. And if you have issues with how you might need to rep grind and do multiple world bosses a week to do higher heat levels then keep in mind then the content wasnt made for you. It would be like if a retail player who only does Raidfiner and Normal mode complained how they cant do Mythic raid on one or more characters without putting in the minimal time.
And if your mindset is "I need to do every bit of content as fast and as much as I can" and call yourself a casual player, I'm sorry your not a casual player.
People will still be bored of it in a month.

The "completionist" mentality needs to go...anybody that isn't pushing for BIS and parsing and maxing literally everything is called a filthy casual...bro you can have alts and guess what, you can set your own goals in the game. Everyone needs to stop feeling like they have to be #1 at everything...because you aren't and never will be. Just relax and enjoy the game
