Mostly, those my "What If" things about Scott Pilgrim universe are cringe, even I didn't wrote it...
Most of the evil exes are much more fleshed out in the original graphic novel version of the story ...EXCEPT for the first two. Matthew was basically the same, and I remember my shock when I got to Lucas Lee and realised he somehow had LESS 'screentime' in the graphic novels than he did in the movie
they were more like charcater types before, that's why the seven deadly sins theory was so popular but so inconsistent and varied the only sure ones are Gideon as Greed, Todd as Glutonny, Roxy as Lust and Lucas as Sloth, granted 4/7 is more then half but that's a big margin for error
Remember, we have to thank old wallace that now we got this alternate wholesome timeline since he told old scott to go back in time to take in his younger past self

I just love that they took on an alternate story for this series. In the original material and movie, we got toxic people fighting each other to gain the love of a toxic person. Here, we got a wholesome story of toxic people, forgiving each other and becoming better people (atleast).

Gideon/Gordon actually having fun and enjoying others company was not something I knew I wanted until now. At least based on the movie he just seemed like "this is the bad guy, he sucks" and him genuinely being chill (despite heavy implications he's still evil) threw me through a loop, almost as much as the ton of other interesting twists this show has.

The endings are equivalent in all versions except the video games where you can get actual bad endings.

Something people need to remember is that Ramona is also a POS when the story starts, just like Scott. The only difference is she has genuine self awareness of her negative impact on people. The main fault of most of the exes is that they're clingy and spiteful, but it's kind of hard to blame all of them.

Just started reading the comics and ive heard from people that the evil exes in the comics are nothing more than just obstacles for Scott to overcome. If that was the case i prefer this. It show that the exes are people two, they just wanted their own closure after Ramona broke up with them. This honestly bring humanity and personality to the exes.

I love this take on scott pilgrim, in the original movie the ex's were mini bosses (literally) they were a lot of fun for what they were, but not a lot of depth to them, I love how in this new show they dedicate an episode to each boyfriend, fleshing them out, and explaining why they were so mad at ramona, culminating in all of them being free of that anger and getting a happy ending, which is not easy to pull, honestly, loved this show a happy ending that feels earned
my headcanon is that in the comics and movie, Gideon acts as this sinister mastermind, but behind the scenes he's just like Cid Kagenou from Eminence In Shadow.
And just like in real life where no one-dimensional "evil" people exists, they gave the exes the Johnny Lawrence treatment and I love it. Best decision they could make.
It's like after the other iterations of this story, I was delightfully supposed with this series and how it humanized the Evil Ex's into somewhat regular people. They took a big leap with this series and I was pleasantly surprised. I actually hope it doesn't have another season, but this feels like a one-off story.

I love this take on scott pilgrim, in the original movie the ex's were mini bosses (literally) they were a lot of fun for what they were, but not a lot of depth to them, I love how in this new show they dedicate an episode to each boyfriend, fleshing them out, and explaining why they were so mad at ramona, culminating in all of them being free of that anger and getting a happy ending, which is not easy to pull, honestly, loved this show a happy ending that feels earned
my headcanon is that in the comics and movie, Gideon acts as this sinister mastermind, but behind the scenes he's just like Cid Kagenou from Eminence In Shadow.
Thats why I lpve the series, we get alot more personality from the evil exes, makes me actually like each one of them in a way
When they're not being evil exes, they're just normal dorks.

It's like after the other iterations of this story, I was delightfully supposed with this series and how it humanized the Evil Ex's into somewhat regular people.
They took a big leap with this series and I was pleasantly surprised. I actually hope it doesn't have another season, but this feels like a one-off story.
