- Recorded live on September 3, 1973 (Closing show). . Elvis did the song Trouble during his August / September engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton. During the Opening show Elvis did Trouble in Medley with the song Raised On Rock. For whatever reason he only did this medly only once.

By this point Elvis was exhausted, You can hear it in his voice, listen to this then listen to the 1968 version. Such a big difference

Both : drugs to calm exhaustion ; the 68 version was raw and wild, here he is in pain when trying to say "green-eyed mountain jack" although I know his voice also matured...
1973 final tour too much health voice problems.
Not just "health voice problems". It's the chemicals he took to keep going in Vegas. If Parker had not objected to a world tour, if Parker hadn't set up these tedious Vegas contracts...3/4 shows a day...who knows what greater heights The King would have reached. Security issues said Parker. RUBBISH.
@@cleret1407 he never did 3 or 4 shows a day. It was 2 in vegas and occasionally on tour but never more than that
He was awesome and could sing everything with his awesome voice especially in the latest years . That's why he is the King. R.I.P Elvis❤
Elvis messes around with his songs beautifully. Others just mess around with his stuff badly. But....keep singing the songs folks. Keep the King's memory alive.

I first heard Elvis sing when I was 4 years old and I fell in love with that voice and I've been in love with that man every sense and still am and there isn't a song that Elvis sings that I don't like I love them all

Aww, that was awesome, if only Elvis had performed slightly less but brought more quality song like this one to the stage... He performed too much so his voice was struggling at times... but the man definitely still had it and what a band... Yeah, great to hear this.

I saw him one year after this in Vegas. And he was A LOT MORE SOBER. No trace of the drugs that he's way too high on here.
This was a month before his divorce. It wasn't a good time for Elvis. He was in hospital about six weeks after this.

Julian Kowssarie if talk when Elvis performed this song, well there was a few times between 1975-1977 but unfortunately he couldn't sing the full thing besides the part where he sings, well my dad was a Green eyed Mountain jag.

The song is called "Evil" not "Trouble". There is another/different song he recoreded called "T-R-O-U-B-L-E"

Exhaustion? No. That's drugs. People saying he's tired/exhausted, I ask from what? He performed for 75 minutes and was done. Mick Jagger at 75 runs around for 2 hours and doesn't slur and mutter his words. I love Elvis but after Hawaii the affect of drugs on him became increasingly noticeable. Within hours after the Hawaii show, Sonny West talked about the heartbreak of seeing Elvis back in a drug induced stupor on the balcony of the hotel the following day. Sonny pointed out from there on it was a slow downhill descent.

How do I know what drugs Elvis took in 1977? Here are three sources:
In 1977, the State of Tennessee Department of Public Health recovered the prescription records that contained the list of pills and the quantities prescribed to Elvis by Dr. Nick (Dr. Nicks signature is on every prescription). It contained over 5,000 pills between January 1st 1977 and August 16th 1977 (Avg. 25 pills per day!). The TDPH initiated proceedings to revoke Dr. Nick of his license.
2. In 1977 BioScience Laboratories in Los Angeles, California tested tissue samples from Elvis. Their test results showed 10 different narcotic and amphetamine drugs in Elvis’ body at the time of his death, they are:
Codeine
Morphine
Quaalude
Valium
Valmid
Placidyl
Nembutal
Phenobarbital
Pentobarbital
Butabarbital
These results were corroborated by two other laboratories performing the same tests.
Top medical examiners found this list incredible and certainly sufficient to kill Elvis. “Polypharmacy"-Look it up.
3. Rick Stanley, Elvis’ step brother worked at Graceland on 8/16/1977, he picked up the Dilauded prescription from Baptist Memorial Hospital that morning and brought it back to Graceland and personally handed it to Elvis-Rick handed at least 2 other “packets” of drugs directly to Elvis that morning. Why don't you read and listen to his testimony on Elvis' drug habit?
And to your other misguided, unfounded point. Elvis did not perform any “2 show” gigs in 1977-So what is he exhausted from?

@Roberto Pansini I believe what I read & hear when all the parties involved essentially tell the same story and ALL, I repeat, ALL the documented evidence supports the testimony. And for the record, Elvis was NOT performing "like he did" in the last two years of his life. There are dozens of concert reviews in 76 & 77 Read em dude-Not favorable. Look at the two filmed shows for CBS TV in June of 1977-The man was in bad shape-In fact Graceland did not want any part of displaying footage from those concerts. The 3 laboratories verified 10 drugs in his system at time of death. You keep living in denial.

His kindness and generosity was remarkable, (Jerry Schilling and him buying and delivering a wheel chair to a person they knew was in need) I guess I'm angry at what those drugs took away and do not mean to put Elvis down. I just wanted to know what happened and how it all went wrong. He is my favorite entertainer and will shine forever.

He put little work into owning it. You could hear he was half cocked. Love the man but he was getting bored of it by then
73 was his downward spiral after he divorce from Pricilla it seemed to suck the life out of him ..
He was as high as kite but still managed to sing the song decently. Actually pretty good for a throw away melody. Should of stuck with it instead of the old stale standards that he got stuck with
wonder why this wasn't part of his act earlier, obviously this version is awful, but the whole concert was. but it would have been such a good act for an inform Elvis with a similar arrangement.

Man, he sounds weak. '73 wasn't a very good year for him.
He sounds terrible and bored and looked bloated. Not the Elvis i want to remember. In the summer of 1972 the energy was already gone and boredom had set in. But at least he sounded and looked much better. Soon after 1973 the photos appeared of him on stage constantly having his left hand on the chains of his belt, looking tired and ready for retirement. I wish he had quit after the MSG concerts.
I have never liked this song.
