I would rate it a solid 9.5 out of 10, a few minor little itty bitty things i wish were different about Venom, but it absolutely doesn't ruin any part of the game for me!

But if you 100% complete the game and still have a few combat related trophies to get (like I did) for the platinum, the extra time spent waiting for random street crimes to occur does drag and feel a little boring. Honestly though, that point will be moot once New Game + is added.
6 or 7. I wasn't a fan of the MJ stealth stuff in the first game and this was even worse. Giving her a magic taser that let her best "seasoned" hunters who trained their entire life. The sequences were pretty Jank. You could just run right at the people and press the button to knock them out, no sneaking needed. Also, the stealth even for Spider-man was largely on rails. I've never played a game that told me when it was ok to attack someone so clearly with the UI, it feels like it plays itself. Over half of the QTES were really pointless and didn't actually do anything if you failed. The combat was streamlined compared to the first game immensely and they removed unique suit abilities and like more than half of the gadgets so the fighting sort of just becomes use your 4 specials when they are available and that's about it. One boss fight in particular is almost exactly a 1 to 1 copy of another from the first game. The quality is there, its a beautiful game but I just don't see the 9s and 10s personally.
When you play as a deaf character, and the audio is disabled? Back in my day, that would've been called, "attention to detail". Funny how times change...

I do have an issue with the woke parts of this game, and that issue is the removal of the LGBTQ+ elements for Middle Eastern counters, Either double down of don't go there.
It's for marketing purposes it appeals to the west so it makes it in but it's very well known that shit like that doesn't get approved in the middle east so it's removed they don't care they just making as much money as possible

Mine got stuck during the EMF mission 😂 tried to jump the ramp and kinds just got absorbed into it and then the time ran out lol it was funny but it happened once and then once the checkpoint restarted it was no longer there
If I’m being honest, Peter and MJ have downgraded in the new game as far as design is concerned. I think Mj with a ponytail in the last game looked really cool and it was unique. I miss peter’s old face too.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here but first i just want to say that i love the game and love the character models, nothing bad to say about Spider-Man 2. I think what the haters are saying is that MJ as always been the ultimate "girl next door" and with that there's a certain look of innocence that comes with it that she doesn't have in SM2 which to me is normal because they're older now, that innocent teenage look is just gone now and maybe that's what they're missing. That said, people are ignorant and stupid and if that's a problem for them with female characters in video games then they shouldn't even be allowed on the internet. No hate please, this comment wasn't to defend them, it was just to point out where their misplaced frustration came from.

I've run across a few bugs and glitches, and they're just funny. Ive had invisible people, and enemies stay up after knocking them out. It doesn't make the game unplayable for me. Maybe because I dont expect games to be perfect when released. Playable yes, but not perfect.

I enjoyed Spider-Man 2, but I gotta admit some woke moments pulled me out of the game because it felt so forced and they put them in the main story, which was distracting me, though it was a pretty good game.

Catwoman has shown bisexual tendencies so that makes sense, but not black cat. The MJ thing is stupid. But her career is being a model. Not a reporter. She’s literally a Lois Lane knockoff. And I didn’t even like her sections in the first game. It’s a little better in this game, but not needed. It doesn’t make sense. Miles should not be the main character of Spider-Man 3. Peter should be able to round off his trilogy and then Miles should be the main Spider-Man. The story to me felt rushed. They killed all his villains, already used Scream, already introduced Carnage, already introduced Ant-Venom, and Miles is just THE spider-man now. The gameplay is a lot better, but the first game’s story was much better paced.
A turn based game will never scratch the itch that games like God of war, monster hunter or dmc give. BG3 was awesome but turn based gets extremely boring imo, and is way easier to program which is something people forget when asking "why can't all games be this good"
When it comes to long games, one of my favorites was Xenosaga years ago. It was such a great game, but... it had a LOT of cutscenes. Like a 90+ hour movie almost LMAO. Some cutscenes were so long that my controller would shut off. When players complained, they did tone it down in the sequel, but... sadly they went too far. Where the first game had a great story, the 2nd was... "Hi, I'm the boss." okay lets fight. I am exaggerating of course how quick the first game was, but I think you get my point. The great story was gone and it felt very rushed, instead of a reason to be fighting this enemy, it seemed like "Okay, here's a boss, time to fight. Whey this person is bad doesn't matter." Also, I saw a much longer video about that "pronouns" guy where the YTer went back to the VODs and watched the entire stream... He completely manufactured the entire thing in his head. Nobody said that she was assigned male at birth or anything of the sort... just that she was cloned from a man. So it was a total misunderstanding of how cloning works in the fictional setting that created the entire controversy that... he ranted on for over 45 minutes as he continued to play the game.
While yes i do agree that some of these hot takes are dumb, I still don't like it. Pay close attention to her face and it looks like they gave her jowls. I'd believe it if the game took place several years after the first game but no its only a year or 2. She looks like shes in her 30s when shes supposed to be around Peter's age. Peter himself looks like he got younger between the two games. Finally theres the mutiple missions you place as MJ...just no. Shes running around with a taser and wiping out teams of trained men on her own...and without powers like Peter. Totally immersion breaking for me. I don't hate Hailey as a character but I question why they would make a mission where you play as her. Its a Spider Man game. It also feels kinda "tone deaf(sorry)" that they dull or remove the sound when thats already been done before. Anyone remember the Quiet Man?

On the topic of long games. Balder's Gate 3 is pretty long and each hour is worth it. Especially since your choices matter. I've got 10 hours+ on Gilda. My idiot savant battle master fighter; who follows The Red Knight as her god. Also. That parody of a certain CZcamsr I no longer watch killed me. 😂😂 Especially the face you made during it.
Enjoyed the video, as usual. However I disagree with you on the guy that produced the train-bug around 2:20. I think if it is in the game and is accessible without exploit (e.g. going out of bounds), it's fair game. If you can reach it while not breaking the rules of the game, it should not be buggy. Now granted, that bug was funny, it still is a bug. It doesn't make the game a 'buggy mess' as OP stated, but your spaghetti example doesn't hold up either, I think because breaking the spaghetti is not intended use, while the thing that dude did is, because it is in the game.
I love the game, but I have noticed several random bugs throughout my playthrough. Random models T-posing in cutscenes or the head models separating from the bodies. However, they aren't ever game breaking or anything and barely last. I still wish they'd be patched out, but the game itself is beautiful, and I love it so much.

"You got your cis, het, white couple at the forefront" it's not about people wanting more of that. Do you see anyone mad about playing Miles? It's about how obviously forced the arbitrary baseline of inclusivity is. It doesn't feel genuine, it feels like a checklist to appease whiners on twitter. For decades the token black(or whatever x identity) was a ridiculed cliche and now you people eat it up and praise them for it. The only real argument in favor of it is these side missions are hollow time filler anyway so who cares what identity you give these characters, but that's still just admitting the writers were lazy which is basically the main complaint. Wouldnt you rather have these characters be parts of meaningful stories instead of an identity thrown on top of trash filler characters.
I loved the game, I did 100% it and I enjoyed every moment of it, When playing as Hailey I did like that as well cause, For me, it allowed me to somewhat experience what it is like of someone who is actually deaf in real life. All these missions hwere not just tossed together but every single one had its own story which I loved, and wished more games do. I would rather have a game that lasts me 10 to 25 hours to complete or 100% andfully love every single second of it. Rather than a game that lasts 100 hours to complete and feel drained and bored of it by the end

While I think MJ isn’t ugly or horrible looking by any means, I do think some of her features could’ve been improved to make her look more like an older version of the MJ we know from the comics and I think this design in part has to do with global DEI standards which in 2020 a developer admitted about. Basically the requirements are that the AAA game industry has to create androgynous female characters as to not have too many strong feminine features. Edit: Also I just found out that MJ in this game has heavy resemblance to one of the writers at Insomniac so it’s possible this was just a self-insert
If games needed to be long to be good resident evil 7 would have done abysmally. A campaign intended to be done the first time through in 8-10 hours, and you're encouraged to learn to speedrun it to unlock more stuff leading to it being beatable in under 2 hours by an average if not outright bad at shooters, but practised player (me)? Only 2 or 3 "lengthy" scenes of dialogue in the entire game pre DLC? No open world? It's the opposite of starfield and everyone loved it. People need to stop with this cringey console wars bs, they're both good if you can't afford a high end PC, the subscription bs on both sucks, and what games someone likes is a matter of opinion and personal taste entirely. Doing what these people do though, you just end up showing how far a literal corporation has their boot down your throat.
These reviews bitching about the woke stuff or missing the point are usually frat bro reviews. Reviews came in for a game like Scorn or Death Stranding, frat bros missed the point and usually between chugging mountain dew scream stuff like walking simulator or theres little to no combat, or it's woke trash. Came to the realization that it wasn't for them in the beginning thats fine, they want to play Cod, sports games, brawlers, they don't wanna admit that they can't properly review something and stay in their lane.
Tbh I really enjoyed the Hailie mission. It was cute in a way that she sees the world, to feel the vibrations of the music, and the spray painting was a cool little mini game. If anything I wish it was a little bit longer!

I think, for me anyway, my three big problems with the game are these: 1.) The removal of several gadgets. I for one really enjoyed the gadgets in the first game and wanted to see them and others implemented, but now there are far fewer and I miss them. 2.) The removal of suit powers. I feel it's less rewarding to earn all suits now because they're pure cosmetic rather than power offering. 3.) The obvious goal to remove Peter Parker as Spider-Man. I've never been a Miles Morales fan. I don't hate on anyone who likes him, but to me he's just an blatant rip off of Peter and a weak attempt to replace him, and through out the game we see Peter trying to pass on the torch...right down to him saying "Why does this city need me when it has you [Miles])". These lines annoy me because, like Miles or hate him, he's not the Spider-Man I love and grew up with. The game ending with Peter retiring from being Spider-Man, Miles taking over the job, and then the reveal of Cindy Moon (Silk...another Spider themed hero), shows me that in the third game Peter will likely either not be involved or be relegated to a background character, which is such a disservice to him as a character. Peter Parker embodied everything I love about superheroes, where as Miles simply tries to mimic them, and that, in turn, makes me less invested in Miles and more involved in Peter...and maybe I'm the only one who feels that way. But the constant uplifting of Miles and the bitch slapping that Peter got throughout the game just...it really hurt as a fan of Peter.
Personally I don’t have an issue with the way they ended the game. By that point, Peter has been Spider-Man for a decade with so much unanswered baggage and lack of work on his personal life and goals. To Peter, who really wanted to be a part of the EMF to help with research that could help the world, his job as Spider-Man would take too much time away from it. Even if what I’m saying is wrong, he never said in the game that he was retiring. He said he’s gonna be away for a while (as in taking a break) to focus on Peter Parker. Plus both Peter and Miles feel confident in Miles going solo as NYC’s Spider-Man. Regardless if it’s not Peter, anybody can be Spider-Man so it makes sense for that to be the ending to this game.
Plus plus, I’m positive they’re gonna put him back in since they teased green goblin and plan Doc Ock is forming in the post-game credits and he is central in all of that.

Well, im not really a guy who games consistently and it only took me about 19 hours to platinum the game. Thats pretty short, especially on the hardest difficulty. But thats a minor complaint for me. Its a W game but it could of been a lot better imo in many other areas.

If I’m being honest, Peter and MJ have downgraded in the new game as far as design is concerned. I think Mj with a ponytail in the last game looked really cool and it was unique. I miss peter’s old face too.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here but first i just want to say that i love the game and love the character models, nothing bad to say about Spider-Man 2. I think what the haters are saying is that MJ as always been the ultimate "girl next door" and with that there's a certain look of innocence that comes with it that she doesn't have in SM2 which to me is normal because they're older now, that innocent teenage look is just gone now and maybe that's what they're missing. That said, people are ignorant and stupid and if that's a problem for them with female characters in video games then they shouldn't even be allowed on the internet. No hate please, this comment wasn't to defend them, it was just to point out where their misplaced frustration came from.

I've run across a few bugs and glitches, and they're just funny. Ive had invisible people, and enemies stay up after knocking them out. It doesn't make the game unplayable for me. Maybe because I dont expect games to be perfect when released. Playable yes, but not perfect.

Miles should not be the main character of Spider-Man 3. Peter should be able to round off his trilogy and then Miles should be the main Spider-Man. The story to me felt rushed. They killed all his villains, already used Scream, already introduced Carnage, already introduced Ant-Venom, and Miles is just THE spider-man now. The gameplay is a lot better, but the first game’s story was much better paced.

A turn based game will never scratch the itch that games like God of war, monster hunter or dmc give. BG3 was awesome but turn based gets extremely boring imo, and is way easier to program which is something people forget when asking "why can't all games be this good"
When it comes to long games, one of my favorites was Xenosaga years ago. It was such a great game, but... it had a LOT of cutscenes. Like a 90+ hour movie almost LMAO. Some cutscenes were so long that my controller would shut off. When players complained, they did tone it down in the sequel, but... sadly they went too far. Where the first game had a great story, the 2nd was... "Hi, I'm the boss." okay lets fight. I am exaggerating of course how quick the first game was, but I think you get my point. The great story was gone and it felt very rushed, instead of a reason to be fighting this enemy, it seemed like "Okay, here's a boss, time to fight. Whey this person is bad doesn't matter."
Also, I saw a much longer video about that "pronouns" guy where the YTer went back to the VODs and watched the entire stream... He completely manufactured the entire thing in his head. Nobody said that she was assigned male at birth or anything of the sort... just that she was cloned from a man. So it was a total misunderstanding of how cloning works in the fictional setting that created the entire controversy that... he ranted on for over 45 minutes as he continued to play the game.
While yes i do agree that some of these hot takes are dumb, I still don't like it. Pay close attention to her face and it looks like they gave her jowls. I'd believe it if the game took place several years after the first game but no its only a year or 2. She looks like shes in her 30s when shes supposed to be around Peter's age. Peter himself looks like he got younger between the two games. Finally theres the mutiple missions you place as MJ...just no. Shes running around with a taser and wiping out teams of trained men on her own...and without powers like Peter. Totally immersion breaking for me.
I don't hate Hailey as a character but I question why they would make a mission where you play as her. Its a Spider Man game. It also feels kinda "tone deaf(sorry)" that they dull or remove the sound when thats already been done before. Anyone remember the Quiet Man?

I think if it is in the game and is accessible without exploit (e.g. going out of bounds), it's fair game. If you can reach it while not breaking the rules of the game, it should not be buggy. Now granted, that bug was funny, it still is a bug. It doesn't make the game a 'buggy mess' as OP stated, but your spaghetti example doesn't hold up either, I think because breaking the spaghetti is not intended use, while the thing that dude did is, because it is in the game.

I love the game, but I have noticed several random bugs throughout my playthrough. Random models T-posing in cutscenes or the head models separating from the bodies. However, they aren't ever game breaking or anything and barely last. I still wish they'd be patched out, but the game itself is beautiful, and I love it so much.

I loved the game, I did 100% it and I enjoyed every moment of it, When playing as Hailey I did like that as well cause, For me, it allowed me to somewhat experience what it is like of someone who is actually deaf in real life. All these missions hwere not just tossed together but every single one had its own story which I loved, and wished more games do. I would rather have a game that lasts me 10 to 25 hours to complete or 100% andfully love every single second of it. Rather than a game that lasts 100 hours to complete and feel drained and bored of it by the end

While I think MJ isn’t ugly or horrible looking by any means, I do think some of her features could’ve been improved to make her look more like an older version of the MJ we know from the comics and I think this design in part has to do with global DEI standards which in 2020 a developer admitted about. Basically the requirements are that the AAA game industry has to create androgynous female characters as to not have too many strong feminine features.
Edit: Also I just found out that MJ in this game has heavy resemblance to one of the writers at Insomniac so it’s possible this was just a self-insert

I actually cant stand long form games. I loose interest quickly and find it hard to get into it if the story isnt captivating.
If games needed to be long to be good resident evil 7 would have done abysmally. A campaign intended to be done the first time through in 8-10 hours, and you're encouraged to learn to speedrun it to unlock more stuff leading to it being beatable in under 2 hours by an average if not outright bad at shooters, but practised player (me)? Only 2 or 3 "lengthy" scenes of dialogue in the entire game pre DLC? No open world? It's the opposite of starfield and everyone loved it. People need to stop with this cringey console wars bs, they're both good if you can't afford a high end PC, the subscription bs on both sucks, and what games someone likes is a matter of opinion and personal taste entirely. Doing what these people do though, you just end up showing how far a literal corporation has their boot down your throat.
These reviews bitching about the woke stuff or missing the point are usually frat bro reviews. Reviews came in for a game like Scorn or Death Stranding, frat bros missed the point and usually between chugging mountain dew scream stuff like walking simulator or theres little to no combat, or it's woke trash. Came to the realization that it wasn't for them in the beginning thats fine, they want to play Cod, sports games, brawlers, they don't wanna admit that they can't properly review something and stay in their lane.
Tbh I really enjoyed the Hailie mission. It was cute in a way that she sees the world, to feel the vibrations of the music, and the spray painting was a cool little mini game. If anything I wish it was a little bit longer!

I think, for me anyway, my three big problems with the game are these:
1.) The removal of several gadgets. I for one really enjoyed the gadgets in the first game and wanted to see them and others implemented, but now there are far fewer and I miss them.
2.) The removal of suit powers. I feel it's less rewarding to earn all suits now because they're pure cosmetic rather than power offering.
3.) The obvious goal to remove Peter Parker as Spider-Man. I've never been a Miles Morales fan. I don't hate on anyone who likes him, but to me he's just an blatant rip off of Peter and a weak attempt to replace him, and through out the game we see Peter trying to pass on the torch...right down to him saying "Why does this city need me when it has you [Miles])". These lines annoy me because, like Miles or hate him, he's not the Spider-Man I love and grew up with. The game ending with Peter retiring from being Spider-Man, Miles taking over the job, and then the reveal of Cindy Moon (Silk...another Spider themed hero), shows me that in the third game Peter will likely either not be involved or be relegated to a background character, which is such a disservice to him as a character. Peter Parker embodied everything I love about superheroes, where as Miles simply tries to mimic them, and that, in turn, makes me less invested in Miles and more involved in Peter...and maybe I'm the only one who feels that way. But the constant uplifting of Miles and the bitch slapping that Peter got throughout the game just...it really hurt as a fan of Peter.
Personally I don’t have an issue with the way they ended the game. By that point, Peter has been Spider-Man for a decade with so much unanswered baggage and lack of work on his personal life and goals. To Peter, who really wanted to be a part of the EMF to help with research that could help the world, his job as Spider-Man would take too much time away from it. Even if what I’m saying is wrong, he never said in the game that he was retiring. He said he’s gonna be away for a while (as in taking a break) to focus on Peter Parker. Plus both Peter and Miles feel confident in Miles going solo as NYC’s Spider-Man. Regardless if it’s not Peter, anybody can be Spider-Man so it makes sense for that to be the ending to this game.
Plus plus, I’m positive they’re gonna put him back in since they teased green goblin and plan Doc Ock is forming in the post-game credits and he is central in all of that.

But what I'm saying is it doesn't fit the Peter I knew from the comics and stories I grew up with. "With great power comes great responsibility." That virtue does not stop applying to Peter just because he's been Spider Man for so long. Besides, even if we ignore the ending, lines like "Why would this city need me when it has you," demonstrate the obvious attempt to undermine Peter compared to Miles, which is just wrong on every level. I don't care if Pete is confident in Miles...Peter is Spider Man...and he's still capable. I don't like seeing him undermined so a copy cat can take his title and role from him.

Well, im not really a guy who games consistently and it only took me about 19 hours to platinum the game. Thats pretty short, especially on the hardest difficulty. But thats a minor complaint for me. Its a W game but it could of been a lot better imo in many other areas.
