Of Body n' Soul: Running the 2024 Free Spirit 50K Ultramarathon

- The second annual Free Spirit 50K took place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Leyden, Mass. The loop race course takes runners through two states - Massachusetts and Vermont - on hilly dirt and gravel roads through the beautiful countryside, with over 4,200 feet of climbing.
The race started and finished in front of Leyden's Old Town Hall, and through the surrounding towns of Guilford and Halifax, Vermont. and Colrain, Massachusetts. We crossed the state border three times along the way on an overcast day with temperatures hovering in the upper 50s to low 60s.
It was a perfect running day for me, for the body and soul, so to speak.

Commenting again! Glad you found your way out- getting lost on a course is one of my biggest fears, mainly because I have such a bad time with directions! 🤣 This is a beautiful course, and congrats on the tree! 🤓

I love the fire engine start! What a gorgeous course. Getting "lost" suuucks. Congrats to Sara on her first 50k! And to you on a fantastic race! I didn't realize just how fast you are until i saw the drone shots! 😂 Feeling ready for VT?
Thanks, Kelly! Yes, the fire engine start is a nice touch. I'm only fast for the camera and am definitely not ready for VT100 🤣
