To the woman who claims to be a "rubbish friend": You really feel guilty that you couldn't find Claudia? You have a teeny fraction of the resources that law enforcement has, and they couldn't find her. You sound like a lovely person, and I would be grateful to have a friend like you.

Agreed, In fact her genuine distress at Claudia's loss, shows what a truly great friend she was.
It also gives those of us who didn't know Claudia a clear insight into the much-loved and missed person she was.
That police launched open season and countless character assassinations on her in the media, with their ill-judged insinuations about her private life, is an utter disgrace.
I have no idea about Claudia Lawrence's private life. I didn't know her. But I do know this:
Show me a human being who would fearlessly publish their own life story in full, without leaving out some aspects and incidents they'd rather were not publicly scrutinised, and I will show you a liar! Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.
May Claudia rest in peace and rise in glory.

This documentary reveals that Claudia never opened or read that last text message she received from her friend in Cypus around 9.10pm on that last evening. She may very well have gone to bed early but she was an avid phone texter/user so I'm surprised she never opened the message the next morning on her walk to work. This makes me think what ever happened to her happened the night before and not walking to work the next morning.

My personal opinion is that she would never have left to start a new life in Cyprus without telling her family that doesn’t make sense.I think she was murdered after 9pm the night before probably by someone she knew who possibly knocked on her door or met her in the front of her house .Maybe someone she worked with who misread signals or was angered by her dating someone else .I just do not believe she would put her parents and friends through so much pain for a life abroad

I’m interested in the Chef who said he sometimes picked her up on his way to work but he did not go down her street because they had not arranged to pick up! So he kept going past her street, and then he said something I thought was strange! He said for some reason…then I took another route “after” he passed her street! What does that mean? He then said I could have gone down her street but I didn’t and that it was a bit of monkey on his back. Has this man been fully investigated? Has his car been checked?

100% Spot on - there's no way Claudia vanished out of the blue of her own accord, without even saying goodbye to her family and friends. She'd only fairly recently bought that lovely cottage she was so proud of. She enjoyed her job, and had everything to live for. She'd even arranged to meet her best friend in the pub the night after she vanished - and in one of her final ever phone calls she arranged to meet her Mum that weekend, to celebrate 'Mother's Day'.
Claudia was violently removed from this world by a possessive, controlling man who had a sexual obsession with her. She may have had a romantic relationship with her killer past or present, and ended it. But equally she may never have returned his interest, refused to start any such sexual liaison with him, and he killed her in the classic 'If I can't have you, no one else will' scenario.
Domestic murders of women by men are typically triggered by the female victim rejecting the male perpetrator, either telling him she wishes to end an existing intimate relationship with him, or not returning his interest at all.
I strongly suspect Claudia Lawrence was murdered on the evening of 18th March 2009 some time after her final mobile phone activity circa 9pm, not the following morning 19th March while walking to work. The fact she totally ignored a text message from a friend sent around 9pm, never even opening it, is a huge red flag, indicating she was abducted/killed that night. I don't know any young woman who doesn't read her text messages - even if she decides not to reply!
It isn't mentioned in this video, but Claudia's hair straighteners, which she always used, were also missing from her home. It seems to me she was persuaded to spend the night with her lover, and he drove her from her home address and either killed her inside his vehicle or at his home address.

People in the pub should have fallen over themselves to help police get that coward off the streets! Shame on them if they complained about multiple interviews, or were uncooperative.
Her father Peter died without ever seeing justice or closure, and her mother Jean and sister Ali, and all who loved her, continue to suffer her loss. They too are victims of this heinous crime. Unless you had something to hide, why would you be hostile to the police investigation?

It's a haunting case. Based on what I've learned before, there are several men who are suspects. It must be like a weight on the family and friends to know the one who killed her could still lving in the town?
One thing is clear: the 'rough' state her fellow chef noticed and the men lurking around her home are connected. One of the men she was seeing turned out to be obsessive? Or he discovered he wasnt' the ONLY one she was seeing?
Notice how that man , on CCTV, made sure not to cross pathes with the other man?
Was he making sure he wasn't seen there or was the other man another lover?
Or the behaviour of a killer who wasn't awware of the camera - going or coming from killing her?
      RIP Claudia.

That kind of totally unsubstantiated and sensationalist speculation is exactly the kind of garbage that has successfully 'trashed' Claudia's reputation! You just added to it, you hypocrite - shame on you.
Her late father Peter and her mother Joan suffered and continue to suffer terribly, as a result of cruel rumours and gossip exactly like that, which only pile on the agony for her loved ones. Cut it out!
At the time of her abduction and murder, Claudia Lawrence was a single woman with no attachments. She was entitled to date whoever she liked, she had made no wedding vows of fidelity. Her private life was exactly that - her private life. It's shocking that in the 21st Century females are still judged as 'virgins or whores' - when you can bet if this had been a single man in the same tragic circumstances, the media would have treated him as the victim he/Claudia was. The double standards around single females are disgusting.
The appalling misogyny and character judgements that have been hurled at murder victim Claudia Lawrence since she became the victim of a heinous crime are an utter disgrace.

BINGO! Police have formally interviewed Claudia Lawrence's killer more than once (as Google pretty much confirms). They know exactly who he is, but were unable to bring murder charges following his arrest, and had to release him through lack of evidence.
Statistically speaking, Claudia was highly unlikely to have been killed by a total stranger. Even the circumstances/timeline of the crime don't support that scenario. The killer was someone who had a romantic interest in or relationship with her, which may have been over when he killed her. Abusive men frequently kill women after they end the relationship, as a violent reaction to female rejection.
The fact her home was forensically clean, indicates she was not killed there but elsewhere - I suspect in a car. Her body was then disposed of. The killer had luck on his side not to have slipped up and got himself caught. I believe it's entirely possible he will be charged as time moves on, and loyalties change. An estranged wife may come forward in future with crucial information - she may even withdraw a previously given alibi for the prime suspect in Claudia's murder. I don't believe that guy has any reason to sleep soundly, his days of freedom are numbered.

Unusual, it seems, for very talented and thorough English investigators not to solve a case like this. She was clearly abducted and, at some point, killed, probably while walking to work early in the morning, whether by a stranger or someone she knew. So often there is CCTV that helps solve the case--and there is some in this case, but apparently nothing that truly helped solve the case. I would have thought police could have tracked down the two vehicles that were thought suspicious--the car that braked near her house early in the morning of her disappearance or the van--but they were not tracked down.

I believe the police know the identity of Claudia Lawrence's killer, but lack the evidence needed to bring murder charges. That could change at any time - all they need is for her body to be found, or a disgruntled ex wife to come forward with some new evidence, and they will nail him. I know this is a bit of a stretch, but something is better than nothing.
In the 2009 CCTV grainy footage of the guy seen twice near to Claudia Lawrence's house, he has to me a clear limp of his right leg. Like it's deformed or a false leg from the knee down. I am disabled. I have the same walk/stride due to me having one leg shorter than the other. I noticed this right away. Then I saw a woman on another video about Claudia saying exactly the same thing. I agree with her. The guy seen twice in that footage near to Claudia's house has a right leg limp for sure.
Now, six months later. 2009. Alan Wood was murdered. The guy they are keen to find who was seen at ATM cash machines also has a significant right leg limp. This could be the same guy. In the absence of new evidence involving both crimes, a small clue might be helpful and could lead to the culprit being caught. If I was a police officer, I would look at both cases and possibly link them due to the coincidence that both CCTV videos show a guy with a prominent right leg limp. I hope this helps in some small way. No detail can be overlooked. Even if it seems unlikely.

If it is true that she was "well known in the area for multiple sexual partners who were married," then this has to be seen as an important line of enquiry, not "victim blaming."
She was 35 and single. I note she made remarks about being a "spinster," which is a negative word to use about being unmarried. At her age, time was running out. It is not unusual for a woman in this situation to have become pregnant as a desperate attempt to have a baby and/or get a man to leave his wife and marry her.
This has led to married men murdering women.
I'm afraid I think this is the most likely thing to have happened to her. I would chase down any married lover with money and status. Partly because he would have more to lose and partly because he has obviously gone to considerable lengths to hide the body. This indicates that he knows how the system works.
I bet the police do have an idea who murdered her but can't get enough evidence. The fact that the men arrested were not mentioned also suggests a more powerful man is involved in this.
The only thing that puzzles me is if gossip had it that she was "well known" to have multiple married lovers surely it would be possible to discover them all?
I wish her family and friends peace. Claudia is at peace now.

After every working shift shes got to change into her normal clothes, I've never known any type of catering where you're allowed to start or finish and in your catering clothes. So imagine (regularly after every shift) she's just done a shift, got into her normal clothes, took off her hat and hair net that shes had on all day. She takes pride in her appearence as we can all see from years of photos and she doesn't stike as a person who'd have messy hair regardless of anything. Looking at the texture of her hair im sure it'd get a kink in it after wearing a net and hat . Even if she was just walking home from work, theres the possibility that she would see someone she knows or maybe even stop off somewhere and wanting to look her best self . Claudia packed her bag that morning just like she did every shift with her straighteners ready to leave work looking as good as she did when she first walked in. She had plans to walk out of work that day im certain. It might seem insignificant but us ladies do little things like this if we are creatures of habit and ones that take pride in our appearence 100% of the time and all the time . I don't believe this fleeing for a new life theory but i do believe that the locals have kept tight lipped about what they know.

    Very sad story.
I feel for her parents and friends. They love her very much and they need closure.
I really hope they will be able to find something soon and find peace.
I’ve been following this case for years. Sometimes, out of the blue Claudia comes to my mind and I search for news about her and the case and always find nothing is new.
Light and hope to those parents, it is the worst nightmare for a parent to loose a child in such circumstances.

Because it was most likely someone from her secret sex life that abducted and murdered her. The whole investigation was hampered because she had kept that part of her life secret from her family and friends, so the police didn't find out there was another side to her life for a few weeks, that meant it was very hard to chase up possible leads. Also, as she kept it so secret it was hard to find the people she knew from that life.

I think as hard and shocking as it was to hear for her family and friends it was relevant to the case. Maybe the police had hoped if it was the married man who’d done something to Claudia or knew something he may be worried they were onto him and hoped he’d come forward first before they found him. Who knows?! It certainly wouldn’t have stopped me from coming forward to help if I could have done. What a single woman gets up to in her own time is none of mine or anyone else’s business quite frankly. Let’s face it, had she been a man she’d have been getting a pat on the back for having “multiple partners”!

To me, there is a pattern. Claudia was seen on video the day and evening before but not in the morning. Her phone was on and turned off in her local area. Her body was never found. To me this sounds like she never went home but went to another house in the local area in the evening and never left. Police should look into any houses in the area that had excavation/building works at that time in her local area.

Only two issues i have with this case:
1). The friends were clearly expecting her in the pub but neither rang nor texted her nor walked the few steps from the pub to her door to check.
Jen lives in the same house and after work did not check to see why she never came. Nor checked her after work.
Yet claudia told her mum she was going to bed early. That fits with her being tired from the night before with this other man according to Peter Oxer her co-worker. So why didn't the friends check up on her.
So was Claudia lying to her mum and not going to bed early or lying to her friends to say she was joining them but then wasn't.
    So that didn't make sense.
2). Peter Oxer clearly has a close friendship with claudia to note she had a rough night with someone who was not her normal boyfriend. So who was her normal boyfriend. Was Peter indiscreet to her normal boyfriend and would this boyfriend be jealous. Could that be the man hesitating going to get a bag from his car, pausing so he is not seen and going to her house.
I also found it interesting Peter Oxer communicated at 7.27 offering to lend her his car the following morning. Did he offer to lend his car or did he offer to pick her up? Because he says earlier what if I had turned left... But then he says that hadnt been arranged... But the night before surely he would have offered a ride instead of his car. Why didnt he offer her a lift home that day at work. Why didnt he offer her his car that day at work or a lift for the following day.
The man in white has the build and stature of Paul Oxer when the man in black hesitated. Did Paul go to offer her his car in person and then by phone. Did the man in black see him and become jealous.
At 7.27pm whoever faltered, returning to get a bag is already acting suspiciously. Had his mind been made up. Was he stalking Claudia. Was he the boyfriend she had a rough night with. Was she pregnant by a married man?
But none of it adds up. Shes expected in the pub with friends but tells her mum she is tired and going to bed early. She would tell her friends she wasn't coming.
Let us assume her friends are telling the truth, were expecting her, didn't feel the need to check up on her, thought she had cried off or met someone else, then she either met up with a boyfriend or opened the door to someone she knew.
I believe her mother when she said she was going to have an early night. But she gets off work early is home shortly after 3pm. Who is she with between 3.15 and 7.15 and what is she doing.
And Peter Oxer is curious. Offers her his car but doesnt offer her a lift in the morning and goes a completely different way. Why did he go a different way? Why dud he avoid her address by rerouting?
And what if Claudia did decide to go out and see her friends in the pub. Was she dying and straightening her hair? That would explain why her white work outfit was gone. She didn't want to ruin her outfit or get dye on her clothes so she wore it to dye her hair.
And the two things used in doing her hair are gone. The work outfit and the tongs. So the tongs could be a murder weapon and the clothes link the suspect to the crime perhaps because of transfer of DNA.
The shady dark man... Does he look anything like the landlord. Who would call that early.
So 7.15 strange man seen skulking
7.27 Paul Oxer offers his car
8.30 Claudia speaks to her mum
9.12 Claudia fails to respond to a text.
05.00 to 05.40 landlord seen near house
    Curca 6pm car brakes suddenly
Paul Oxer is definitely a person of interest, so is the landlord, so are the friends

100% correct, very poor police work, and blatant misogyny and victim-blaming in their own media briefings, and in subsequent news reports. Claudia Lawrence was vilely defamed as an adulteress - when she had been the victim of a heinous murder, and was not even alive to defend her reputation. These scurrilous attacks on her character piled additional agony onto her parents, sister, friends and loved ones. Her private life was exactly that.
She was a 35 year old single woman - she had made marriage vows to no one! It sickens me how double standards are applied to the sex lives of women and men. I guarantee had a man vanished in the same circumstances as Claudia, the police and media reports would have presented him as the blameless murder victim he/Claudia was. There would have been no victim blaming or 'slut shaming', as we saw directed at Claudia.
How sad her father Peter, who worked long and hard to secure justice for his murdered child, died in 2021 without seeing justice for her, or closure for himself and all who loved her.
