Yeah Jessica dominated a lot of their earlier discography and now the others cant ft that cause her voice is played in the background.They'd have to re record all of their songs so that it fits the other members voices

They have their chance to shine, just not singing wise. While performing, they stand out more in terms of dancing. Yoona has a beautiful acting career, hyoyeon has her own songs now, sooyoung has lots of CF opportunities and so does yuri. They may not necessarily shine in singing but they do in other ways.

It will be really hard for the 8 girls to establish their own sound now. Jessica has contributed so much thanks to her distinctive tone & her position as the second main vocalist. Taeyeon's voice comes close to matching Jessica's (hence why she usually covers her lines now) but it's still not the same.
DayvinDazone actually tiffany gets the most from jessica’s line. And its sunny that is closest to jessica’s soft vocals.

This is probably the first ballad I ve heard from snsd,years ago. I always thought Taeyeon dominates this song because of her lines in the chorus and the fact that she dominates the duet with Jessica. Never thought Sica and Sunny come in front of her.It was a surprise. Such a beautiful song and pretty well distributed for the vocal line. The dance line is in the dungeon lol. Tho,still one of my fave songs.
That just mean taeyeon voice gives more impact than the other two cause having lesser lines than them but more prominent in the song

Jessica had a lot of lines in their Japanese singles. The Japanese audience loved her voice and she was also the most popular member in Japan when she was still in the group. And SJJD didn't release a Japanese album anymore after she was kicked out.

2:28 is really HyoYoon? That's odd giving a shared line to the two weak vocal because if it's a shared line, I noticed, the distribution will go to a weak vocal support by a good vocal (main/lead). Like how they always pair SeoHyo, YoonSeo, SunHyo etc.
p.s. They two are not 'weak' vocal but considering them being in a group with great vocals, they're pretty weak but decent enough to slay other idols in the industry. Experience wins over talent. :3

Alex Black The more you're exposed to something, to more you absorb the environment. You'll see HyoYoon can be a little stable on stage, live, with dance moves compared to some lead vocals of the newer generation because they still struggle on how to control everything on stage. I'm not saying studio recording because of course the rookie leads will slay HyoYoon's rather weak vocal. And if considering dancing, I'd say that the SNSD's lead SYY will surely have a better stage present than any new main dancers (ofc not picking out any groups right now because fans nowadays got no chill).

I know sometimes Tiffany sings with ‘unhealthy’ technique but for meTiffany is still better than Sunny. Ikr Sunny is good on high note (especially with head voice) but being good vocalist is not about high note only. Tiffany has wider vocal range. Tiffany’s low note is so good and it fits very well on SNSD/TTS harmonization. Tiffany has more power than Sunny and she has unique and distinctive voice tone.

It's possible that they are but it's not noticeable because their voices are overpowered by the vocal line. And idk what your deal is but I meant no harm in my statements. I'm familiar with All of Sm's groups and they have a history of excluding members from vocal heavy songs. It's no big deal but acting as if singing along with an already layered chorus counts as solo lines is silly.

It was really bad in the first Japanese album (Time Machine was the first album The Boys repackage), but Love&Peace and Girls&Peace had better line distribution than I Got A Boy. In general, Lion Heart had the best line distribution out of any Girls' Generation album.
Well for Lion Heart it is normal because they were 8 so it is easier to them to sing more
This is my opinion, but I don't really understand this mentality that bigger groups have a harder time getting lines. Yeah, if a 9 member group makes a 9 track album, of course each member will get lines will get more or less 1 song length of lines (not going to add the complicated bit of group singing vs solo), and the best vocalist will get like 1.5 songs worth of lines and the worst vocalist like 0.7 songs worth of lines. A smaller group of 3 with a 9 track album will receive "like" 3 songs worth of lines. Obviously a smaller group will have like every single member sing 3x more than the larger group. But that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about the amount of lines one member gets VS another member's. In the 1st Japanese album, there are literally songs where the non-vocalists don't get solo lines (The Great Escape), which is weird because the original tasks in that album aren't vocally challenging at all. This doesn't happen in Lion Heart at all, even in vocally challenging tracks, except with Yoona in You Think. I don't think Jessica leaving would be a reason why the non-vocalists sing at a higher rate and nearly at the rate of the vocalists, although it may be a turning point. I'm not even really sure why Lion Heart is so good at giving everybody an opportunity to sing. Another reason why this is odd, after Jessica left, their older songs have to adjust for the lost. However, most of the lines were getting given to Taeyeon, Tiffany, Yoona, and Seohyun, members who sing more than other members (other than Yoona). Hyoyeon took almost none of Jessica's lines. In this case, SM mate the line distribution of their older songs worse.
Lee Aaron The 1st Japanese album is the album where NONE of the dancers had solo lines in *-Beautiful Stranger-**, I'm In Love With the Hero, Let It Rain, and The Great Escape*. That's almost ALL the non-promoted tracks. I'm not really sure why, it's just like that for some reason. But I really don't see Yuri singing any significantly more than, say, Sooyoung, and neither had many lines in my opinion.

Imo, Tiffany's voice really suits this song and they could have made her have equal lines with the rest of the vocal line (still not sure why they didn't). They should give Tiff more lines in places she can sing well in, like here instead of songs that are out of her abilities, like MR.MR

Yong Ying 7337 the japanese producers saw her potential, too bad the koreans only focused on tts. Sunny’s vocals were shone so brightly in their japanese songs and it’s literally non-existent in their korean songs
