My people have been telling y'all this for years. I'm a black man from Mississippi, we know these people, we can feel their presence. It's the fault of this country for not dealing with this at every point in our history when it comes back. This is another moment and I see no action.
So, so true. So many people refuse to learn from slavery, Jim Crow, or WW2 or that “some who work forces, burn crosses” or that only poor women are affected by abortion bans & that illegal ones kill moms who already have kids. They’re ok making others live with the legacy of those things, because they kick down as compensation for no improvement in their own lives. They’ll accept rulers they look up to, instead of admitting they’re to blame & confronting them. They keep forgetting that fascists just keep kicking. When everyone else is down, they’ll be next, (or go down as collateral damage for being the right color, but not rich). And their chosen rulers convince them to go along w not letting their kids learn those lessons at school/ in books, either. I sense a shift. I hope it’s a real one. For all our sakes.
100 and 200 years ago, things were different than they are now. People have evolved. It's easy to blame people from a long time ago. How about your people that sold slaves to the Europeans? There's probably still slavery in Africa. Racism will always be, better learn how to deal with it. Racism exists across the globe, not just America.

Absolutely, it plays a part. Michael Brown, too. Check out a great book called "Black Lives and Spatial Matters", by Jodi Rios. Talks about "policing" black areas, seeing "blackness as risk".(I grew up in Ferguson and saw these things first hand.)

These things have been generationally passed down. In certain areas of our country it's well known what families support these beliefs.
