  • Today I start off by showing more Kallistra and Warlord comparison. Including making regiments in firing line, and Kallistra Artillery comparison.
I then go on to talk about using points, or scenarios to construct your forces.
At this point I do say Black Powder instead of Glory Hallelujah a couple if times, when making the point not all BP supplements or periods have an army list with points(this one does).
I also mention my future planned videos- Historical Accuracy, to Kepi or not to Kepi.
Black Powder for beginners, and using these figures with other rules.
As always, thanks for watching, liking, subbing and I am always looking for wargaming chat!!

I’m just getting back into miniature war gaming after a break of 20 years or so (warhammer 40k)
Decided to get into historical, bought a bunch of books and settled on ACW almost to the day the warlord preorder for the Big Set was announced.

Looking at the rule book points do not take into account unit sizes
Tiny infantry stand is 1 stand, small is 3, reg is 5, large is 7
I'd suggest using the points cost as per stand from the glory hallelujah book, with the plus minus to each stand, and 4x the points of your basic game, so 1000 point game now becomes 4000 points, gets similar amount of units and can more accurately represent different unit sizes

Interesting you talk about Antietam, probably talking about something you may already have, but I have found the range of books by Brad Butkovich published by Historic Imagination, to be one of the best collections of resources for the ACW gamer. In essence these books are a set of scenarios for Antietam, Chickamauga etc, based on carefully researched and drawn maps, with a full OOB for that battle and of course each scenario. Most can be played on the usual 6x4 board and provide a massive amount of material ready made for the gamer.

If somehow possible I will use four 30mm bases with 10 soldiers on each for a standart seized regiment. That would be 40 soldiers forming a firing line of 1200 mm being also able to form a proper march column of 8 ranks. Combining then some sets of Kalistra command units as shown in this video with the epic battles starter pack would provide 30 infantry regiments on the table, having a good unit seize to play large battles on a 6x4 table.

@@Unclecthulu I am on a standard table, so if doing regiments would have 3 bases standard (180 mm), which is actually a bit longer than one of my 28mm regiments (150mm)!
What I am thinking though is to go for larger battles, represent forces by the brigade and so each individual Epic 60mm base would be a regiment, that is pretty much how use my own Kallistra armies (1 regiment on 2 x 40mm bases), with the regiments grouped into brigades, so having the 5 bases together as a brigade (rather than a regiment) would not be uncommon.

Warlord will do a lot of stuff you will need. Skirmishers, cavalry, limbers, Zouves etc. I am going to keep to Warlord as much as possible(at least with the Confederates, I am rebasing my union as we speak)
I will be using Kallistra for 'spice', as someone in a forum labelled it
With doing 3 base regiments, extra command is a must. The command also come with mounted command, and these can also be used as other pose brigadiers.
Casulties can be used as well to create stamina markers. Mount on a penny, and you can lay a dice with it.
Extra Artillery with give you poses and break up the same looking gun models from Warlord.
I am also doing 1/2 bases so I can use other rules (video coming), and will pick up some general line figures.
So I do think Warlord has most bases covered, from what I have heard, just need to see them.
