I have the same device. It is suppose to have lifetime maps. It won't update with the downloaded software. ( can't see device )Ya I tried 3 different cables from 3 different Garmin's that do update. Also the speaker stopped working. Garmin Tech support just told me to buy a new one. That is what I call shitty support.
"He's dead Jim." I would say that your GPS has bitten the dust as all three do update you know the problem is the unit. If you're handy you can find these on Ebay with broken screens for a reasonable amount. Really all you need is the guts of the unit you have everything else. Just swap out the broken screen with yours and you have a new working unit. I have videos on how to dismantle a similar unit here: czcams.com/video/-JFk-3kurmc/video.html as I said it's not the same but it will be similar internally. You can begin by taking your's apart first and disconnecting the battery overnight. Sometimes this resets the unit back to life. You really don't have anything to lose.
