The best entertainers of the 20th century, of all time. I'm so glad we still have these gems to view from time to time. The early 20th century gave us the greatest entertainment/entertainers of all time.

This show aired February 2, 1958. It was actually a Special, not a weekly show. Altogether, Dean did a series of nine specials for NBC from 1957 to 1961. I'd be curious how many of them exist.

This was the first Dean Martin show from 1958. It didn't do very well and was cancelled, unlike his hit 1960's TV show. Lots of Dean & Frank magic, though.

jason60chev .... I love Dean by i can honestly say i don't remember this. I was only days to months old here. I only wish i was around when they was all in there prime. I was only 8 years old when Deans variety shows came on, i couldn't stay up late enough to watch it.

Wow, this show was on 60 years ago as long as I be alive. It is interesting to see my favorite singer singing when I am only days or weeks or months old. Since I was born on January 1... I am almost sure I am A little older then this show.
Thanks for posting this and showing me what they was like when I was a wee baby.

A huge THANK you for uploading this gem. Honestly, this format could've served well for a TV Special than for a regular show IMO, but luckly Dino had his break in the 60's with his hit show. Still, I enjoyed every minute of it. Again, thank you.

Dean was still working on his TV persona here. He just needed to scale things back about 20 percent. He hit the sweet spot, NBC said "Let's try it again," and history was made.

I love watching these classic tv variety shows. The only bad thing about them is the frigging cigarette commercials, Those damn tobacco companies causing people to start smoking and having many of them get lung cancer just for profit! Other than that these shows were really great to watch and still are. Love them. By the way whatever happen to Oasis lol.

In the 1950’s, according to Stephen Bogart, the original members of the Holmby Hills Rat Pack were Frank Sinatra (pack master), Judy Garland (first vice-president), Sid Luft (cage master), Bogart (rat in charge of public relations), Swifty Lazar (recording secretary and treasurer), Nathaniel Benchley (historian), David Niven, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, George Cukor, Cary Grant, Rex Harrison, and Jimmy Van Heusen.
Lauren Bacall saw her husband Humphrey Bogart and his friends returning from a night in Las Vegas and said, "You look like a goddamn rat pack."

Hollywood was still unofficially boycotting TV as a dangerous rival when this aired. Few of movieland's biggest names condescended to appear on the tube except to plug their films. The dam had been breached by 'Four Star Playhouse', but generally only names on their way up or down did regular turns.
Sinatra was willing to try anything, however, though (unlike Dino or Danny) he never had a hit with a TV series. Musical talent had more incentives to try television bc film musicals were drying up, and Dino was seeking to relaunch himself after breaking up with Jerry Lewis. His relaxed style fitted the 'cool' medium better than Frank's hep manner.
