Welcome to Eliksni Grammar 101, where you'll learn how to talk in secret to friend and foe alike. Featuring 87 words, ranging from nouns to adverbs.

I'd like to thank all of The Uncommonwealth for not thinking I was totally crazy, and especially Sarnea for her continued patience and support while I went full Warlock at home in the course of making of this video.
This project to unravel the mysteries of the Fallen language has been in progress since the release of the House of Wolves DLC, and boy has it been a long and hard journey, but I'm very satisfied with where it is at the moment.
It's probably wisest not to take Variks too literally; he likes to ad-lib here and there. I've taken a degree of liberty with the words not directly translated by Variks in the game, by essentially working on a very long, very difficult crossword puzzle. While it's unlikely to be perfect, nor 100% accurate, I think it's as good as we'll get until Variks decides to feed us some more varied translations! Here's hoping for Destiny 2!
I'm told that we have a department of Bungie known as the "FishTank" to thank for the Eliksni language existing at all. I know those dudes are the ones that make the ViDocs and various other neat content, so if it was indeed them that developed the Fallen language, thanks for giving me something to do other than grinding for max grimoire for the last 3 years!

This is now OFFICIAL!
With this week's catalyst quest for Revision Zero, Bungie has directly referenced and used the Fallen language translations I created, including words I made up that don't feature in this video to fill up a noun/adjective/adverb/verb chart, which is unreal. So pleased!

This spoken Eliksni language is considered Low Speak, but we have begun to learn Eliksni High Speak!

I just found this and as a someone who is interested in language and sociology this is going to be a big help in my research. It’s amazing how you did this and keep it up. Try the Cabal next if you can, I have faith in you.
That would be interesting, I think the way the Cabal speak is comical to me it sounds like angry mumbling and grunts.

How does word order work in the Eliksni language?
That would be a good area to research next! I only wanted to focus on the words themselves, but at first glance, it looks like they might swap between English-like, and Yoda-like depending on the context. Would be an interesting next area to look at.

Amazing work. I couldn’t help but notice that it seems like the Fallen speak some sort form of an amalgam language that clearly is Latin based or related. Most notably “Lovos” or “Lobos” meaning “Wolves”. Interesting, yeeeessss.

How to feel like a true warlock 101 -Hunter main
Obviously this language is far from complete but how much room would you say there is in interpretation. For example if I want to say "we" the options I see are; Nevos (I with plural suffix), Dras ne (Each me), Bo/Na go ne (Banner/house of me). Or is it possible to use any one of these terms depending on context?
Also, Skolas saying O Dres, going on the idea that anatonyms could be inferred, with E referring to oneself it's possible O could mean "you", in which case Skolas is saying "You nothing (You are nothing)".
If Nevos is I with plural suffix, then I think it's the best out we've got.
A bit late, but have you considered translating lines from Vosik and Aksis during the raid? They roar most of the time, but they seem to sometimes speak snippets of Eliksni. What you've done here is more than enough, though, so I understand if you don't want to do anymore for the time being.
They both say standard mob dialogue, with the Skolas/Ultra-tier intonation. The only thing I noticed of interest was Vosik's screens which do have a countdown of Fallen symbols, which I don't believe mean much, but may be designer initials. I'd have to revisit them another time.
Two years ago: Variks said that Cayde was no longer of use.
One year later: Cayde-6 has become... no longer of use beyond the grave, lets just say.
Now: We still miss Cayde.
I wrote all of that Eliksni down on a whiteboard. My hand hurts.
I always enjoyed the way fallan talk, especially when a aggressive Captain is chasing you, firing his Lords of wolfs gun super quick and yelling at you with there Eliksni language 😂

It's an actual translation. But I don't think that the Fallen, or Eliksni in their language, even know what the phrase "F*ck You" even is. If they do, I imagine anything that got killed said that before they died.

I'm still recovering slightly from the adventure, but no doubt I'll get the itch the moment there's chance for a revision or expansion.
I know game-development results in a lot of chopping and changing as part of the nature of things, so it may be that many of the rules of Eliksni language will be completely changed in Destiny 2.
We'll see!

In one of the lore tabs for the dreaming city, titled "Misraaks" more words have been added! We now know the name of 2 fallen ranks in eliksni

Kel: well...it's just Kell.
There are some other words, like a type of traditional bow, a fig, an insult (?), and another type of sack of food
Interestingly, kel is not capitalized. I hope you find this interesting, Sarsion. I'm still eager for any updates, even though your dictionary is old, I still look forward

I once learned dragon tounge (skyrim) and I was so proud of my self I showed off my new language to all my friends and they called me a nerd :(... I stoped useing it over the years and forgot most of it but I might take up fallen and discard the insults! Wish me luck!

With Destiny 2 dropping small hints here and there that we might set our diffrences aside and find Fallen allies (as in proper allies) this video seems very fitting so long after it was made.

As a Titan who’s had quite a history with the Fallen, so much so that I might praise them for their sense of style and attitude, I am proud that I am not the only one who spends time researching and collecting information on this fascinating species.
I've done it, I learned Eliksni and now when I talk to people they think I'm an alien. They have no idea what I'm saying but I do >:D

I got a challenge for you tho, if you're up for more.
There's an adventure in Destiny 2 on Titan in which you have the choice to make a short-lived alliance with a Fallen captain. In the end you come upon a face off between this captain and a Hive knight. If you kill the knight and don't attack the captain, he says something in Eliksni and leaves you be.
I can't help but wonder...what does he say?

So, Mithrax. When you first encounter him, he says 3:40 and when you spare him he says 1:12. A line directly from Taniks and a generic mob line any Fallen can say. Still a super cool moment. I also spared him (naturally).
Sarsion Sarsion Aw hey thanks for the reply! A little disappointing his lines were just generic fallen ones, but I haven't given up hope that adventure hints at something more going on with the fallen...it's one of the adventures that really stood out to me ^_^

I'm PISSED that my Mother didn't teach me to speak Greek! She and my Grandmother and a bunch of Aunts and Uncles, spoke it all the time! She said she just wanted me to master English. WTF was she thinkin' ?? Knowing Greek is the greatest way to master English !! Oh well. My Mother died a few years ago, so I guess I'll try to learn Eliksni.

All Destiny 2 Fallen lines are recycled from Destiny 1; Bungie's focus being on the Cabal. Both of Mithrax's lines can be heard in this video.

At first, I was disappointed not to hear anything new, but with mentions of spoken Eliksni in the main storyline, as well as enemies like Mithrax, it paints a hopeful future for more dialogue. If the response to this video says anything, there's clearly an audience for it!
