    Great review, thank you, this is what I needed to help me make my decision! Looking at photos, I felt like the little locking pin looked weak, I didn’t trust it, so to see someone actually put it through its paces was great! I’m just starting out, and I only really mount to one tripod right now, but being able to switch between handheld and mounted quickly will be such a huge benefit!

    This looks like a pretty killer piece of equipment, it’s nice the mount is Arca Swiss. Maybe I should get one of these for a gimbal 🤔 thanks for the info!

    • @GrantBurks
      @GrantBurks  Před rokem +1

      My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the info. The Arca Swiss compatibility is so nice… I love that they made both the top plate and base plate both compatible with Arca Swiss. Let’s you just leave the top plate attached to your camera and you can put it on most tripods that don’t even have the base plate if you want.
      Let me know if you have any questions I can answer and best of luck with any upcoming projects!

    I've been using these for years. On every tripod and gimbal and camera I own now. They just work. You do need to screw the base on tight though. But I have cages on my cameras so that's not an issue.

    Ni, thanks for the video…Can you purchase a separate D ring screw on this system?

    • @GrantBurks
      @GrantBurks  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I tried this but unfortunately there was not enough room underneath of the system to connect it to the plate. You could maybe get it to work if the ‘head’ of the D-ring that you buy is very thin or if you somehow shave it down with another tool.

    I found the plate does come loose if you accidentally rotate the camera. The camera effective acts as a large lever. They need to add some barings to the bolt mechanism to keep force applied, like some other the other quick release systems.

      @GrantBurks  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes if the plate is locked in place on a tripod or some other system and you rotate the camera it is likely to loosen the plate. When this happens I pop it off of the tripod, tighten it back up with a tool I keep attached to my pants, and pop it back on the tripod.

    Those built in tightening screws on other plates are actually a con. They get loose over time and constantly get in the way of the connection.

      @@GrantBurks Not unless you know of any gear that can solve this weird problem I’m having. I have tripod heads with arca Swiss plates. But I have a neewer shoulder rig that has a different plate. (Seems to be the size of a Manfrotto 500 plate.) I do not like the neewer plate because it’s so hard to attach and detach. So I’ve been looking for a solution and found your Falcon F38 video!

    • @GrantBurks
      @GrantBurks  Před rokem

      @@airavearentertainment9186 ahhh I see! I think the Falcam F38 would actually be a great solution for your challenge! If I’m understanding correctly, you need to be able to utilize a system that will allow you to switch back and forth between your Arca Swiss Tripod and Neewer Shoulder Rig and the mounts are different sizes for both of them.
      In that case, you should be able to simply lock the base plate into the mount for your Arca Swiss tripod (the F38 base plate fits the Arca Swiss mount) and then screw another base plate onto the plate on your shoulder rig (the f38 base plate has a thread mount you can use to screw it to other plates)
      From there, just order a top plate to connect to your camera and you’re smooth sailing! Did that all make sense?

    • @GrantBurks
      @GrantBurks  Před 11 měsíci

      That’s odd, I’ve never had my camera fall off of one and they’ve lived on all of my cameras for the last 2 years. Do you think it might have been a defective one or a tightening issue?

    • @EyeLensWeddingVideography
      @EyeLensWeddingVideography Před 11 měsíci

      @@GrantBurks When it did fall off it wasn't because it was loose, when the tripod it fell off completely from the quick release place I might have had a defective one. But I will say I did have a heavy lens and a camera with the battery grip. That might have been a reason. The lens I had was a Rokon 135 mm lens not a super heavy lens but it was a little heavy and I had that connected to a a73 with the battery grip. It may have be to heavy for it because thats the camera that fell off twice The first time I thought it might have been my fault but when it happened the second time I knew it was the quick release plate, luckily I was there to catch 2nd one.. but when I had a second one to get stuck I was like nope I'm done I'm normally okay with getting at least one defective equipment I can understand if it was just one defective one but I got two of them and that's when I said nope I'm done.
