Toa Payoh is one of the 5 oldest stations in SG but its uniqe because of its yellow walls. 1:51 OoOoooooOo C651 rarely see that on NSL nowadays. Now imagine what this place was like when the C151s were the only trains on the NSL and the ticketing machines was you have to pay money and select a value of the ticket just to ride on the MRT and the gantry was you have to slip in the ticket and collect it from the other side of the gantry. Gives me a feeling of what the people experienced in the late 80s and early 90s.
also 90s ads near the doors and yk above the doors the old design. i have never seen that design from before 2001. not much has been documented sadly.
The station that laid the foundation of the future MRT lines.
Nostalga of the early 1990s, especially with the C651 arrival (with old SMRT livery!). An awesome showcase of the station!
Awesome showcase on old mrt with old and new trains departing
Glad you enjoyed it
WHAT a great luck that u take 601-602, which is the first set of c151b :D
Back when it was opened in 7 November 1987 as one of the first 5 MRT stations in Singapore
:Yio Chu Kang
:Ang Mo Kio
:Bishan
:Braddell
:Toa Payoh
then bishan got remade in ground level in the circle line era (2008-2012 i think) it was previously elevated.
PSDs here seem to be more gentle than most of the other PSDs in the other old NSEWL underground stations
My grandparents took photos of it, and boy, it was really amazing
if there are no pics of them you can post it on the internet for us to see
Nice 👍👍 video sharing
I really thought it was City Hall or Raffles Place!
You missed the Toa Payoh Heritage Mural
Very very 90s feels
Toa Payoh MRT Station is opened in 7 November 1987.
When was this video taken? So I've been to Toa Payoh MRT once.
Wow
Does the station design still looks a bit new like it was made between the Late 2000s and Early 2010s
It is built in 1985 (and opened in 1987), but refurbished over a few times to fit the current MRT network. The station walls even got repainted a few years back, making it look new.
1:59 nice c651😊
It is the oldest underground station after Braddell and you take c151b to where?
waw you did the falm in an mrt station!!
Yes sir that's super R
Can you do a MRT compilation like the 2021 one but the 2023 one if possible?
Indeed, there is such a video in the making :)
There is also YCK, AMK, Bishan, and Braddell.
Yio Chu Kang was th first to finish completing
No. The other stations that first opened with Toa Payoh are also
Toa payoh is the first to be built therefore it is the oldest.
@@glitchFan2428 yea
I thought it was yio chu kang
Idea for next video:
TE19 Shenton Way for being one of the newest (cos Toa Payoh is NS19)
I'll generally be filming the Tel stations
lol
orchard is a nice contast stations. 1988 and 2021-2022 into one interchange.
When will the r151 ever come to nsl.

SlIgHtY oVeRuN
To be honest, Yio chu kang to Toa Payoh MRT is the oldest.
Toa Payoh is the oldest, they didn't start constructing all the initial stations at the same time even though they eventually opened at the same time.
New signages
2:11 must have been driven or else can’t be so misaligned
all nsewl trains are driven. nel is the first to be automated.
