    I used a pair of vice grips and bent that piece down and a hammer to help flatten it out

    this guy is excellent....check his videos for hacks and excellent "think outside the box" ideas...really improved the resisitance of my old bowflex conquest(particularly in hot summer months when the bands tend to go a bit wobbly).....
    i don`t normally throw praise around willy nilly but this guy puts the work in and his ideas are very beneficial..feel like i have a new machine...

    angle grinder with thin cut off blade makes quick work of it. I would spray some paint/primer over that though, it will rust just from humidity if nothing else.

    Too bad the rod box wasn't made just a little bit longer so that piece wouldn't need to be removed. An electric saw-zaw would work really well too. Job well done nonetheless!

    Hello I just bought a saw from Amazon to saw off that metal piece. I would like to confirm that if i buy the 50lb rods from amazon they will fit into the machine?
    I have a PR1000 like yours.

    • @BowflexWorkouts
      @BowflexWorkouts  Před rokem +1

      Yep, it'll work. You can double check that your rod box has the extra slots for them. Please use the product links in the description. They are no cost to you and I get a small commission.

      @@BowflexWorkouts It has two holes at the front where I have to saw off the metal piece thats blocking them. I was more worried about the bottom part of it not having a way to screw them in or whatever. I'll unscrew the piece off underneath it later today and check it out and when I Buy the rods I will use your amazon link, thanks.

    • @BowflexWorkouts
      @BowflexWorkouts  Před měsícem

      They are available on the Bowflex website. I'm not sure when they'll go back up on Amazon.
      I just released a new product that I think is a better option for adding resistance. Check it out here: bowflexworkouts.com/products/flat-bench-upgrade-kit-with-lat-bar

      No, purchasing additional power rods is expensive and I think the bands do just as good or even better of a job at a fraction of the price.

    Is it possible jist to turn it around and take out the 5s?

    • @BowflexWorkouts
      @BowflexWorkouts  Před měsícem

      I looked at mine and I think it'd work if you didn't use the piece on the back of the box. If you just flip it around it'd partially cover the holes for the 50's.
      BTW, if you are interested in adding more weight to this machine, I have an upgrade kit coming out in 2 weeks that's a much better way to do it. Costs a lot less too!

    Great video. I was actually looking at this model but the max tension turned me off. Can I show how to install a second set of 50s on this model. I see the box has the slots for it but will it need more support. I noticed normally a bottom panel is added for that second set of 50s and wasn’t sure if that possible on this model

      @BowflexWorkouts  Před rokem

      @@chez6109 0:44 - I talk about that briefly here. You have to pull out the hacksaw again and cut the bottom lip of metal where the screws go in. You'd then just slot the box in as shown in this video: czcams.com/video/oxtRPRVTWvE/video.html
      I have seen other people have done this upgrade to 410 on the PR1000, but I get my extra resistance through this: czcams.com/video/bVD7mLLnHFQ/video.html

    @beardedbatman9174 Před 5 měsíci

    Do not do this. That bracket is there to prevent you from installing more power rods because the hardware and the frame itself are not rated for the added resistance/stress. While you might be fine I wouldn't take the chance especially when you can easily find a used Xtreme 2se or Blaze for under or around $300. They both have much beefier frames.

    • @BowflexWorkouts
      @BowflexWorkouts  Před 5 měsíci

      Do you have a PR1000? It can easily handle another set of power rods

    • @beardedbatman9174
      @beardedbatman9174 Před 5 měsíci

      @@BowflexWorkouts No, because I wanted to be able to safely upgrade to 410 so I picked up a Xtreme 2se. You are probably right, but my info comes straight from Bowflex. If someone got hurt modifying their equipment from watching your video, you could be liable. You should probably add a disclaimer.

      Yes, but the frame is way stronger than you might think. It's not going anywhere. I'm sure someone more skilled could have done it without hole.
