Dave, I think you might be my lucky charm.
I'm new to iRacing (started at the beginning of the season) and we were in the same qualifying lobby today.
I went on to get my first iRacing victory right after that, forever etching the Nurburgring on my first win certificate!

I was absolutely no where; struggled big time in the porsche, seemed to kill me over the jump, happened twice as you saw haha

I've been racing a bit of gt4 in the cayman this season too, but it's quite difficult on this track I must say.

The only reason I'm driving the BMW here is because that's what we're doing the 24 hour race with and that's what I've been practicing with for the last 3 months.
meanwhile my only reason for running the M4 is because of a sickass NFS Most Wanted livery 😂

Does the better sim equipment help with lap times because I’m nowhere near these lap times on my Logitech. I am hopping to upgrade soon and I’m fairly new to the hobby just wondering how much of a difference it really makes. My best lap in the porche is 9:11.7

Hey Dave, can you help. After a race i would like to watch the crashes like you do. When i click the Focus on crashes "helmet" all it does is show me off tracks and random bits of racing but no actual crashes. I have to manually find them myself. Do you know what im doing wrong?
Start the replay and click ctrl numpad 3 for the next incident and Ctrl numpad 1 for the previous 😁

I love it. I have one on the other rig. A bit firm at first but softens nicely 👍

Not sure. It is faster than the Porsche but not by much in the right hands.

And yes, great combo. Had a similar experience in the Porsche today with barely keeping up with a BMW for 2½ laps but in the last lap the bimmer made a mistake and I could slip past for the win.

It doesnt feel like multiclass. You never overtake gt4s here.

It's as shame about Jim's volume. Things you might not have noticed about the CrewChief RC:
- (pre-video) you would have got a countdown to the start, and 2 gridwalk messages, probably new ones and a reminder that it's a rolling start
- he told you the pace car speed (in km/h, matching your iRacing "metric" setting)
- grid formation info is much more reliable (oval restarts are also supported now), but it's track specific so keep following the RCs for the latest updates.
- at least 3 drivers were referenced by their first name (previously he would have used car number)
- incidents were called out along with the name of the nearest landmark (gotta love Jim's German pronunciation)
- the SR/iRating of the car ahead is mentioned if it varies significantly from your own
- if you'd driven back to the pits after the race (yeah, it's the Nords... nobody does it there) he'll tell you your tire wear.
and things you might not have noticed that you DIDN'T get:
- he never repeated the name of the driver ahead even if they blinked.
- he didn't hassle you about low fuel. This is even better with "experimental fuel" enabled.
I'm looking forward to the race when Jim warns you that the guy behind is sketchy. And I'd put good money on him being right.
Nords is a bit of a weird one, iRacing still treats it like a 3 sector track but it should really be split up into about 15, so Jim is pretty quiet since his advice is typically triggered when going across sector boundaries, but it's good in a way because he gives you lots of space to just race.
