By far the most useful and important channel on painting here on YT. Thanks for sharing your knowladge, really impressive to see.
Thank you Torsten! Very glad you think so.
Agreed
what I like about this guy's lessons is that he pronounces everything very clearly
Exactly! Its perfect for me being a foreigner. So clear! 🙂
That's a good teacher...
I have been thinking how hyper realistic art always looks like "art", like a fake. Impressionist art sometimes looks real.
You put it in words perfectly.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you think so. I spent quite a lot of time on this script.
When you began to add the background, the rose just came alive. Beautiful.
Your instructions are amazing, as well. Everything you say is denonstrated at that moment in your brushstoke.
So glad I found your channel.
Thank you. I'm glad you did.
Very good tutorial on painting from the artist's mind instead of taking in everything that the eyes can see. Hope to get some more of these. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful! Your description of why realism works is very well-communicated!
Thank very much you Peter! I'm glad you think so, I put quite a lot of thought went into it.

Дуже дякую за ваше пречудове відео! Це дивовижно! ❤❤❤
You're welcome Xena!
Amazing. You’re so talented and you really make me laugh. I never really understood these drawings and paintings that look photographic. They have no soul! I like paintings to look like paint. I love the details you chose to pick out. When I squinted my eyes, those details popped out for me too.
Thank you Anna. Some detailed work can be great. I'm thinking Northern Renaissance, like Van Eyck, Dürer and my favourite Holbein. Also, the 19th Century British painter John Everett Millais. In his painting of Ophelia, he literally painted every single blade of grass. The renaissance artists probably used lenses, but all of their work looks more lifelike than contemporary photorealists, because they're not copying photos.
beauty
I think, you are a very good artist, your Charakters are very well kept. Lyrical. Professionally Level of Hopper, I'd say! Hope you will get all support you need.
I like you, you pronounced ochre correctly.
Thanks!
Thank you Alex for sharing all these tips and advice. I wanted to ask you if all these apply when someone paints in acrylic. Very cleal explanation and concrete information. Thanks again!
The principles in this video are mainly about how we see things, so they should also apply to acrylics.
I have always puzzled over why hyper-real paintings never work for me. This video was a real 'light-bulb' moment. Considered, really well thought out and extremely useful instruction. Many thanks for posting.
Thank you Vincent!
Thanks Alex 👍
Very nice friend. Flowers especially roses are surprisingly very difficult because the shapes are complex and the tones very near to each other. I've always struggled with them.
Thank you!
this reminds me so much of richard schmidt
Too Kind. His flowers are amazing. He was also the first artist I saw painting flowers outside.
@@SIMPLIFYDrawingandPainting i bought his supplemental book to alla prima a while back, had a section in it if i remember on his whole flower process, was very interesting.. definitely need to give your patreon a try
Wonderful, the perfect amount of loosness. tell me, whats the brush your using at 3:45, ive wanted a small bristle brush like that for awhile and have struggled to find ones of quality. is it hog or badger hair?
I used two different small brushes in this painting with synthetic from Rosemary and Co. An Eclipse comber 1/8 inch and a size 1 round red dot, which is like a sable.
@@SIMPLIFYDrawingandPainting wonderful thank you
Hello, I was wondering if your patreon videos are longer or more of the same we see here? Just want to get an idea!
My Patreon are all in real time. There full-length versions of some of my time-lapse CZcams demos and other demos that aren't on here. I focus on teaching the fundamentals, I reckon there are loads of great portrait and landscape painting demos out there, but there aren't enough resources for beginners that will really help them improve.
like it as always alex very nice do you paint wholefigure some tiimes with clothes like zorn did and is that something you are intrested in like figure in dance or in subway or in pub to capture the movement
Thank you Kaj. I will get eventually around to something along those lines, but it would be a lot more complicated to film. A full length clothed figure would take many days to paint. The file size would be ridiculous, so I would only be able to film sections of it. I am also, thinking of doing a video on fabric and clothing.
yes it be very interest if you do that i want to learn more fom you and you always explain good hope you have a great summer
@@SIMPLIFYDrawingandPainting
Excellent post........Roses are not the easiest of flowers to paint!
Thank you!
I understand you create high quality videos with excellent content...but we need more frequently please 😊
I will try my best. But these video always take me quite a long time to write and in addition to CZcams, I make tutorials for my Patreon channel which are filmed in real time. I also have to try and find time to do my own painting.
@@SIMPLIFYDrawingandPainting amazing content..we all understand thats why im following you since long time
❤👍💞👍🧡👍💓👍💕
Can art be purpose of the life? I cant believe it as purpose usually i think is useful to others
The philosopher Schopenhauer seemed to think so, tho he classified painting quite low in his hierarchy of aesthetics. He said music was the highest art form.
"90 minutes before the battery of my camera runs out" - challenge accepted 🤣
If I decide to film more outdoor demos, I should probably invest in another battery for my camera?
It's complicated. I don't know what you mean. Please explain it slowly by showing me the tutorial picture. You are only in a hurry to explain. It looks like we need to observe the viewers.
