  • If you visited the Brown Arch during AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 for a selfie or just to take a seat for the air show, you probably caught a glimpse of a strange-looking, yet oddly attractive backcountry-type homebuilt. This is the Ascender.

Very unique concept that provides great views, plenty of suspension travel and prop away from ground strikes. Nice work!

It is very common with older ultralights such as the Weedhopper. They are not your tough bushplane, though. What's new is combining this layout with a classic backcountry plane.

On a very hard landing (aka crash), front of engine pivots downward and prop chops you in half or at least chops your lower legs off?

This is what happens when a helicopter grows wings.
