I am thinking about purchasing a serger. But I will need to wait until next year, as my budget is not able to tackle the expense. But the Janome has been recommended to me by a friend who is a milliner. I am very blessed to have him in my life, as he has offered to teach me millinery. I was taught to sew by my mother at age eight-years and in classes at school. I stopped sewing when clothing patterns such as Vogue, Butterick, etc. were no longer available. It is suggested that I look into a serger to make the hats I make have that beautiful, professional finish. Thank you for this wonderful, and informative video. I appreciate you taking the time to show how to use the Janome serger machine.

in geberal, the serger is primarilly used to seam fabric together or finish the end of a project with a rolled hem. you can use it to seam together anything where you need a strong flexible seam and the serge will be on the inside/ hidden somehow.
I was just donated a serger, and I've never used one before, so this is perfect. Thanks!

I’m very new to serging. I still feel very confused on using my regular machine and when to use the serger.
