- Hi all Wolf Lord Rho here!
Horus Week continues! With our look at Horus and the Emperor, together against the Orks!
The events we are discussing today are from the short story "The Wolf of Ash and Fire" by Graham Mcneill. As always I really recommend you read the story for yourself first. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore. For yourself! Not only that, we also help to support the great Black Library and Games Workshop. Because without them, we don't have this amazing lore we love! Link: www.blacklibra...

Emperor: uses his god like powers to KILL an ork warboss
Horus: who would be stupid enough to make the emperor do that again
Horus sometime later: oh he might be me
Remember that face the Warmaster made before Big E lit his ass up one last time??? He remembered this exact moment...
Horus was filled with full power of the chaos gods and thought he could best his father that until the chaos gods just straight up abandoned his ass the moment emps was about to do the Kamehameha wave.
I know Im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Gunner Malik instablaster =)
@@iconicusensign9624 I personally think it was partly to punish Horus for failing, but also to save themselves. It wouldn’t have destroyed them but if enough of their essence was in Horus at the time the blast hit him, it could destroy a significant portion of the god. Not a kill, like taking a arm or leg.
Another speculation I’ve seen, and agree with, is that the emperor is actually stronger than any singular chaos god. He couldn’t beat all four, but given that the emperor wasn’t directly pressing them, rather acting as a wildly overpowered dark god, they had no reason to feel threatened enough to join Forces. They were way to focused on the great game, where the likely hood of their death is near 0. Whereas taking on the emperor, at least in the 42nd millennium, in a 1v1 is asking to be deleted.
My favorite moment of guillemans return is the emperor lighting his gardens on fire. Nurgle was watching the duel that lead to the emperor possessing guilleman. He knew the emperors presence, and he wanted no smoke. Hiding in his mansion while the emperor declared war on all four of them.
I wonder how their going to balance the emperor as time goes on. As he gets more active in his god state now that the great rift exists, he’s likely to do some fucked op shit. I wonder how the chaos gods will answer. How will the emperor beat them one by one, somehow not incurring the full rath of the remainders. I could maybe argue that the emperor could maybe take slannesh and nurgle in a 2v1, but not consistently and not without taking basically fatal damage. Still a game over. He’s gonna have to do some galaxy brain shit to win this one

IMPERIAL STORY TIME KIDS, GATHER ROUND!
Missing Imperial Story Time is heresy!
When the Emperor - beloved by all - retired from the Great Crusade, hundreds of thousands Astartes cried during the Triumph of Ullanor.
Just wanted to ask: Where you around when Horus killed the Emperor of Mankind?
"I was there the day Horus slew the Emperor." Even though it's a misdirection, it's an amazing hook to start a book.
Dominik Linder Yes! Ask Torgaddon, he‘s always eager to tell this story again. And again.
Ferhat Erduran It is perfect and oh so clever.
It is good to see your input Garviel
Uncorrupted Horus is so cool. He’s kinda like half leman and half Guliman. That first HH novel made me love him too, I view corrupted Horus as not the true him anymore.
For me 'corrupted' Horus was still Horus, not a daemon or anything. Its just that his darker side has fully taken over, and thus that's why seemed entirely changed, when in reality for me, he always him, just more out of control.
well by the siege of terra he was more or less a meatsuit for the gods of chaos that has deluded itself into believing it has autonomy
Yeah it's a shame we only gorlt "good Horus" for basically 1.5 books in the whole black Library. It would be cool if the BL broight in a series of the best events of the great crusade, where we can see loyal and traitor primarchs fighting together as brothers alongside the emperor
@@someorclad9738 I see it more like his negative aspects were heightened by the chaos gods. His corruption lead to more corruption and separation from both his father and his brothers. Without chaos to ensure his paranoia, bitterness, and pride are his primary feelings, there’s good reason to believe he wouldn’t have actually lead a revolution.
Half Russ, Half Gulliman is the perfect comparison! They are wolves as well, after all.
Im still tickled to see big E flexing muscles that aren't the astronomicon or the golden thrown!
It's a shame that Horus had to betray the glorious emperor after spending so much time with his father. If you really thing about it most of the emperor's son's would have loved to be the first one to meet their father and the first to be discovered. But what hurts the most is that the main reason why Horus betrayed the emperor is because he felt that his own father couldn't trust him but if only he new that the emperor was trying to protect his favorite son.
FOR THE EMPEROR
Horus did not fall, he wanted power . And he used every perceived slight
and grudge to justify his murder of his comrades .
XANATOS only after being stabbed by the dagger and losing part of himself to chaos.
"My trust is with you. Hail Horus! Hail the Warmaster! "
Emperor at Ullanor
Horus Heresy Book I: Betrayal by Alan Bligh
@@chrisspink8873 He gave himself to chaos in hope of gaining enough power to best the Emperor .
XANATOS yeah only after seeing the visions of the evil god emperor which he believed in despite the fact he was probably seeing 40k obviously he didn’t realise his actions would lead to that outcome.
I believe it is in Master of Mankind when the Emperor best describes foresight: It is like looking across turbulent waters to an island on the other side. You can see the shore but know not how you will reach there. You can see many possibilities, swim across trusting your strength, but could your muscles cramp and fail you; are ther predators in the water that will attack and impede you. If you take a boat, will the boat be flawless, will a storm capsize and sink you, will you accidentally offend the boat maker and they never make the boat. Foresight is seeing the shore within your grasp but never knowing what it will take to reach that shore.
Danable Lector Right on. People tend to not think of, or remember- this view, and to me it was one of the most important bits in the whole novel. Thanks for pointing it out to others- (I’m no good at that😉)
He could see the path but not the golden path
When Abbadon is disregarded and disrespected, it is a pretty good counter, that he fought together with both The Emperor and Horus. He has spent more time with the Emperor then all his worshippers in current 40k.
AND WERE YOU NOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO A GREAT KING TO LEARN FROM HIS EXAMPLE
@@Dadecorban kingdom of heaven? 😁
@@liamgaskin2598 yup
Heresy! Immolate the Heretic!
Kristian Kristiansen facts people don’t know how much of a beat the despoiler is, he’s been around for everything
I do prefer the more humble horus we see in horus rising, rather than an arogant warlord. It makes his fall all the more tragic.
Ben Siener Sejanus was one of our finest. It was difficult for me to take his place in the Mournival.
Ben Siener Slightly, brother. His Name was Hastur Sejanus. Yes, Tarik‘s friendship to Loken and his sacrifice on Istvaan III was heartbreaking. They always remained true Luna Wolves. I even felt sorry for Aximand in this whole tragedy. His last words to Tarik stuck with me.
They had better put Loken in the boarding party with the Emperor on the Vengeful Spirit, his opening phrase from "Horus Rising" would come full poetic circle there.
@@OmniGSage yeeeeees.this ☝️
Emperor russ right it’s like the love was spun around 180degrees. Seems to be a theme going on doesn’t it?
I like how the author demonstrates the Emperor didn't really need to be "saved" by Horus here, since he basically erased all the orks there at the end with his mind, haha.
Hahaha "knocking green skin home runs" damn that's a brilliant quote.
"You get a crack, and you get a crack!" "We're knocking 'em outta the park baby!"
We need more Good Horus and his legion. I love the scraps of lore that we've had, but they've never been given the full treatment like most of the other legions
I'd like to see a book from the point of view of the lunar wolves, what they thought of their primarch becoming corrupt compared to how he was before
Jack B those books were the first ones made.
Horus Rises, and False Gods.
The Audio books by Toby Longworth are great.

Wow been a while since I've read or listened to something pre-heresy , and I have to say this was brilliant and just thinking of about how moments like these bring weight to what the imperium has now become...just when you start to think less of the emperor stories like this turns it all around
Such a fall from enlightenment for Horus. Before the heresy, he truly was the best of the Primarchs.
Perfecting timing, a warhammer 40k video to go with tacos
Tacos?!?! Tacos aren't even that good!
Screw you, Revelation!
But it is still Tuesday. We have to wait until taco Friday as mandated by The Man Emperor as he spoke with the Text to speach device
30k?
haha, yeah 30k, guess I was little too focused on the tacos while typing
*Abbadon get pummeled by a giant Ork mace*
Abbadon: Tis' but a scratch!
You know what would have been funny? A lonely Ork witnessing and surviving the Emperor at full power, and turning to worship him as the ultimate form of power and war, eventually maybe creating a new tribe deficate to him. After all if Yarrick can earn the Orks respect, you can immagine Big E earnin their worship.
No Power Claw = no respect.
As far as the modern day Ork is concerned Yarrick > The Emperor.
One key difference between these two events is that He annihilated Horus' soul to prevent him from being brought back as a Daemon Prince.
Waaaaaiiit ... Does this mean that at the end of the week you stab us all in the back and try to take over our homes? :O
😂
Any time a novel has the Emperor fighting, it is so glorious. I’m all for it.
Horus: can you fight?
Abaddon: it's but a flesh wound!
*YOU SHALL NOT PASS*
Hey that fits since abaddon's armor is black.
Ave Imperator.
Rho your description of the emperor was beautiful you should think about doing audible because trust me you voice is on the level of people like Morgan Freeman and David Attenborough truly beautiful
Thank you 😊
I agree
Orkz is good guyz. Dem boyz knew abadon needed krumpin all da way back den.
Absolutely amazing story! Love stories of the emperor and the primachs fighting side by side, awesome stuff Rho!!!
I enjoy hearing this. It makes the fall that much more tragic. Well done Rho!
Amazing story, always love hearing about the emperor in combat.
LOL @ the Custodes and honor guard jumping into the chasm... awesome dedication but definitely not a good idea. The Emperor and Horus can survive things they certainly can't.
Holy shit (no pun intended) the description of the Psychic might of the emperor is awe inspiring!
I love it! Horus can be an inspiring figure, and he loved his father. He's a primarch worth following. (Hopefully not to Chaos though.)
That thumbnail is so cool always loved that art
The Emperor and Horus fighting together against the Ork tide.
I love you, Wolf Lord.
Hopefully they release the full story of Ulanor
What a week to do Horus week, Rho, as I'm feverishly making a 3D model of the Warmaster himself.....
We need a Great Crusade book series.
Abbadon is to Horus as Kylo Ren was to Vader
It is almost infuriating that While Abbadon is a badass everyone takes him killing the clone of Horus as some masterful moment of proof that he is somehow better than Horus. He himself even admits that the clone he killed wasn't the same. We need to see an actual fight between Abbadon and Guilliman, or Abbadon and the next returned Primarch to see just what level he is on.
Jason Patrignani abbadon would get his ass kicked, because unlike horus (who paused for a brief second as he recognized abbadon) they won’t pause their onslaught. Abbadon is such a threat because He’s a great unifier, not a great fighter
@@wyattbequette3596 ...? Isn't Abbadon's whole _thing_ about being a great fighter?
Win or lose, I really can't see it being as one-sided as you appear to imply.
@@hectorandem2944 Hes a great fighter for an *space marine* but he is not on the level of an Primarch. In terms of strength hes most likely closer to an Custodes or Sister of Silence mostly due to his refusal of selling himself to the gods or Chaos Undivided.
One of my favorites to go back and listen too! Thanks!
The Emperor knew yet kept faith the fates would change
One dislike.
Little Horus.
One of your best Wolf Lord
I've seen this art 100's of times before but this is the first time I've noticed Sanguinious....
Omg!!!
Poor guy, died at the hand of his favorite brother
If you cant beat them, call ya daddy.
Just bought the book. I have to read it in full :)
I reckon Horus end - and that of the mortal body of the emperor - will be a real tear jerker,
"Battered to bonelessness" is my new favorite descriptive line of a battle.
Abbaddon's first name is pronounced "Eh-zee-kee-ul"
I used to think so too. But it’s not in the black legion audiobook 🤷🏻♂️
The emperor's has bless us today
You can't get much better than this can ya absolutely love it
These stories always brighten my day tho, Ik I say it all the time but it’s true! I even resisted watching this one til my break today, just so I could thoroughly enjoy it 😁
Listening to Horus now, it's a bit sad. You can see a slow descent, much of which was not out of malice
I listen and it enjoy these while driving. Unfortunately it means I'm rarely able to like ! Great work fella :)
11:32 i personally don’t believe at all that the Emperor was in danger, but i do believe this was a test
I much prefer the Hero Horus to the shit stain the Emperor obliterates.
Can't wait for Valdor. I've pre-purchased it on audible
I had to pause watching Film Theory to write this comment because Horus weeeeek
Was looking forward to this upload all day
"Then, The Emperor was amongst them." - Lines written before shit gets real.
That moment with abadon is like hitler in ww1 being let go
GO FOR IT BIG E !!!!!!!!!!!!
It would seem the Emperor's compassion may well have blinded him to what Horus, and later Abaddon, would eventually become. If these new 30K stories show anything is that the theory the Emperor was emotionless and saw the Primarchs exclusive as weapons is completely wrong.
I call bulls**t.
Indeed, but it is also said, that everyone who saw the Emperor so something different. So maybe Guilliman saw him as a calculating and emotionless being, just because he is intered into a giant mashine, or because the Emperor wanted him to see him that way. Now he is focused on the task at hand and not overly concerned about rescuing his beloved father somehow. Or it realy happend because so much of the Emperors soul is lost and scattered, while his efforts to use the throne make him not the best smalltalker.
@@Gnarlf The emperor needed Guilliman to be his sword to save humanity. Guilliman was the only one who could do this work for him.
So how would you feel if you were the emperor and had to wait hundreds of years before one of your sons comes back to see you?
@@geoffreyprior8931 It was nearly 10,000 years but you make an excellent point.
@@Gnarlf There's also the issue that Emperor is keeping the beacon lit and keeping the hordes of Chaos from overrunning Terra. My guess is that he was just really distracted during his conversation with Guilliman so he just got to the point. I believe part of Guilliman's problem was that it wasn't what he was used to, Guilliman being one of the Emperor's favorites after all
I really enjoyed this. Thankyou for this wonderful story.I'm going to buy the audio book thanks to you....For The Emperor!!!!!!
For a fellow with eidetic memory subjected to a moment of awe, Horus was distressingly oblivious of this ability when he fought the Emperor. Seriously, either make him use it to leave him exhausted or flee, there is no middle ground.
The Emperor is above the primarchs, as they are to astartes, as astartes are to us. Could you even imagine such a being?? For the Emperor!
Love it, thank you Rho
“The difference is I’m right” Not the leader I would want no.
What a week!
I imagine like he said, The Emperor could see nearly endless future timeline pathways...
Likely a future, brought to becoming reality after an infinite series of potentialities.
Each future of varying degrees of probability for each of his sons fates, a possible sequence of interconnected strands where every one of them could after any number of specific well telegraphed actions, interacting with seemingly unrelated unpredictable events of happenstance in just such a way they (in just this single unique way all these potentialities may succumb to fate) become Arch-Traiter, inciting civil war.
They could all remain loyal, or fall to betrayal... except Lorgar with being landing on Colchis and subsequently sandwiched between The absolute worst-ever Erebus, and the very close second worst Kor Phaeron...
In his case the game was rigged from the start, never had a chance...lol
So, until it occurs so many futures seem to be all likely as to be true and assured. But how could The Emperor risk preemptively strike at what may fear will come to pass.
In him driven by arrogance, fear, and desperation acts upon deeply flawed information, and in turn calculation.
Thus finding that precisely which he feared and attempted to negate from occurring, instead has been the very causal agent that set in stone and has ensured that very future's guaranteed existence.
You have my favourite channel and the best at what u do
Thanks!
Did u just gloss over the emperor teleporting the damn core of planet into the warp???? I'm Abit of a noob with Warhammer so Is that standard for the emperor ? Coz that is one crazy feat
No it’s awesome! I just preferred to focus on the fight :)
love your chanel man!
keep it up
Thanks!
Horus week is best week! But I may be a little bit biased!
Gather round children, it is Grand Story Time, cue visuals.
Those poor orks!!!
I want a complete great crusade series
Whenever the Emperor enters battle you just know the Imperium has pushed the "I Win" button.
this makes me wonder if horus or sanguinius was the top primarch. all the others seem to looks to sanguinius as the best of them after horus falls but i imagine horus was number 1 before that. also if there was some way to bring back the good untainted horus, how would he react to the state of the imperium? and the conversation between him and roboute guilliman would be interesting assuming guilliman didnt kill him on the spot
Never clicked on a notification so fast. 10/10
Not a big fan of Horus, but I enjoy your narration and analysis.
love it
Is it just me or dose the way pre-chaos Horus get portrayed feel very different in later stories compeared to how he was at the start of the HH, I mean sure he had a face for each person, but at his core he seemed nice, which makes his fall even sadder, now in later stories that go back he seem a bit of a twat.
That's because you get different authors who have different takes on the Primarchs. HH series are great but there's been quite a bit of retcon though. Not that i hate it, but continuity has always been an issue in general with 40k.
@@timcusack9388 i think you hit the nail on the head, Just look at Big E, or even Lorgar.
Ezzer-Kyle, you rotter!
Good read though mate, thank you.

RHO! RHO! FIGHT THE XENO!
Dang how powerful is Ghazgul if that ork gave emperor and Horus trouble.
orkz basically have no power limit just let em go long enough
"Ghazgul! You were meant to bring balance to the WAAAAGGHH!"
That ork must have been a krork l mean if it's twice the size of the emperor who is like 12 feet tall and have that advanced weaponry there is no other explanation
Honest to god these story are legendary content bloody great. Could we get some alpha legion.

Sure, I am alpharius after all
@@wolflordrho your going to break my reality with that statement. :-)
Gods please we must have a great crusade book series of the loyal horus view
What I think...?
1) The Emperor was just taking a Boss Baby stress nap during the fight...
2) Horus smelled the extra crispy goodness of his charred face and fingers and yelled "Shake n' Bake!" when he tore off the orc's arm...
3) Empe' pu pulled a Kung Fu Panda level Skaadooosh! on the Orc Boss...
4) Had he been there, the Wolf King would have gutted the Boss Orc, and eaten his spleen in front of him before the Emperor super novaed his soul....
Well you asked Rho, so I told you what I think.
Makes you wonder how Horus ever thought he stood a chance.
I had a question about the Heresy... other then the trickery of that Word Bearer guy why didn't Horus try to return to the Emperor to try and heal him when he was wounded by that chaos blade?
Also one thing that really gets me even now is there are many definitions of a god and all have different levels of power attached. Lorgar seemed to think he was THE "God" and reasonably he doesn't fit that... but he does fit the lower term of "god" which really just means a very very powerful being (which he was for sure). But it seems the lore likes to play loose with what each son really means when they use the term and it sort of bugs me.
He was really far away and unconscious
I think it's that gods get worshipped. Emps wanted to remove worship as a concept
The Emperor Protects
I don’t know what is more disturbing, the fact that Horus could see how Big E could be a God or the fact the Orks had souls?
Your turn Horus. What did you and your family do on your summer vacation?
The Emperor hit with the strength of 1d6
The Emperor protects
The Emperor had Ultra Instinct...
Why did they go down and engage in fistycuffs with an ork warboss when they could have waited 5 minutes and he would have blown up with the planet lol
The emporer blew up the planet by throwing that mechine into the warp..
@@mrblunttube huh?
Old school Horus is the best true tragedy the heresey
Unless your general is a one man army himself, I rather have them commanding and using tactics to minimise loses ;-)
"greenskin home runs" I'm dead
It's not really conceivable that the Emperor had any certainty of Horus' fate. The only legitimate interpretation is that the Emperor saw it as merely one possible timeline, and that the Emperor either felt the risk was worth it (not simply recycling Horus immediately), or that he would ensure that fate did not come to pass. Otherwise the Emperor is one big dumb-E, and that would be heresy.
