  • The explosive demolition of the 15 storey Cheshire House on Windmill Lane in Smethwick on West Midlands News on February 19th 2006, it was Demolished by Coleman & Company as part of a partnership with Sandwell Council to demolish their unwanted housing estates.
    it was part of a shopping precinct known as Windmill Shopping Precinct. or just Windmill Precinct for short. and was completed in summer 1964. it was a bison tower block built by Bryant along with the New Church Estate between Windmill Lane, Ballot Street & Exeter Road which consisted of 48, 3 bed maisonettes along Windmill Lane which were demolished for a primary school in April 2018. and 2, 20 Storey Tower Blocks Called Mill Tower & Croxall Tower, both of which were replaced by houses in 1993 - 1994.
    Cheshire House at the time was the 57th tower block in Sandwell to be demolished and the 24th to be demolished with explosives. 6 of which were also in Smethwick including;
    the previously mentioned 20 storey Mill Tower & Croxall Tower on windmill lane on the 4th of April 1993. Demolished by Doyle Demolition & Ladkarn Demolition.
    22 storey Malthouse Point & Sandfield Point on Oldbury Road on May 18th 1997. Demolished by DSM Demolition.
    And the 16 storey Mile Oak Court & Victoria Court on Soho Way on May 6th 2001. Demolished by Controlled Demolition LTD.
    The demolition of Cheshire House would later be followed up with the demolition of the 24 Storey Hamilton House on Grove Lane on March 18th 2007 and the demolition of the 15 storey Bearwood House in the summer of 2008. Both were demolished by Coleman & Co and would all later be replaced with modern housing.
