  • Hi everyone, welcome back to another video! Back in Autumn I planted 750 spring bulbs in the garden and now, the following Spring, the flower show is on!
    We have so many gorgeous blooms and colour in the garden right now (and much more to come!!) - hope you love this more detailed garden tour 💗 (footage from mid/end March)
    Have you grown any of these varieties before? Which one is your favourite?
    xx

    ** 02:15 what I mean by 'poor treatment' for Tulips: I have to cut the foliage early to fit the Dahlias and planted 2 consecutive years in the bed (with the risk of damaging the bulbs in the process) so really happy to see Tulip Ollioules coming back again, she's a strong one!

    Beautiful garden! And thank you for sharing the varieties, it's always fun to learn about ones I am not aware of. We had a dusting of snow again overnight, so I'll enjoy watching what you have blooming while I try to be patient for my gardens to wake up. I have Replete on my wishlist for this year, love the double daffodils!

      Thank you so much Brenda ❤️ It’s Clematis Armandii 💚 Evergreen foliage, blooms in March/April, flowers are slightly almond scented, grows very vigorously so needs space (or a lot of pruning ☺️)!

    Looks gorgeous!! What will you do with all the bulbs in all these containers to make room for annuals. Do you buy new bulbs each year?

    • @bobbiostudio
      @bobbiostudio  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks Pam 🙏🥰! I do buy new bulbs every year to get the best display.
      If you want to keep your bulbs from year to year, here’s what to do to maximise re-blooming potential:
      Ideally, deadhead (always), fertilise and leave the foliage to die off naturally, only then lift and store in a cool dark dry place. You can also leave them in and plant over with annuals (they don’t typically form deep roots so won’t bother the bulbs).
      If you planted pots very densely, do remove some bulbs as they will divide and end up over-crowding the container.
      I will likely lift mine out early to plant Dahlias and other annuals. Once I lift the bulbs (with the foliage still attached), I let them cure as much as possible in a cool, shaded area but that’s not the best for them to build up energy again for next years. I will either replant them in the garden next year in Autumn or plant them in my family’s gardens 😊
      Hope that helps! 😘😘

    Can I plant 🪴 my bulbs in a semi shaded area I’m not sure where the best spot would be if I may ask☺️💚

    • @bobbiostudio
      @bobbiostudio  Před 2 lety

      Hey Lenna! It depends on the type of bulb! Some bulbs are well suited to part shade (at least 4h of sun per day) such as daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells, muscari and hyacinths will do well too (they will grow well and come back fairly consistently). Tulips, fritillaries, and other summer bulbs will do better in full sun! You could still plant tulips in part shade but they likely won’t bloom again the next year 😊 Hope that helps xx
