- This is a realistic shad fly pattern, tied on a jig hook. Has taken some really big fish for me, and it keeps its profile while also being bulletproof. This pattern is tied for bass species like stripers, hybrid striped bass, largemouth, and smallmouth, but you can tie these in the colors you like for your species of fish. #fishing #flyfishing #shorts

Wonderful fly pattern! Largemouth and Small mouth bass both love it...
Thanks, David. I've had good success on hybrids and stripers as well.
Saltwater fish would love it too
Another new but excellent pattern for me. Good stuff and your simple instruction is incredible
Hey thanks, Neil. Glad to provide some new fly tying avenues.
Lovin your content man
Hey Nikk, I appreciate it!
SUPER!😊
Thanks so much, Dave! I've really enjoyed some of your flies as well over the years.
Cool stuff great video
Thanks, Judge!
Sexy shad. Cool, used a template😮great 💡 idea! Thanks!
Thanks, Joe!
Will it catch big turtles if I pin the turtles against a wall and dangle it infront like?
That sounds like quite a quandary. No promises on that...
You make this look way too easy. Can I buy a few?
Are these meant to be used as dry fly?
No, you retrieve them as if they were a shad. You can use a sinking line or a floating line--floating not getting the fly as deep. Thanks!
What is the white hair you used for the body?
Enrico Puglisi fibers, white or cream. Here's the full recipe and access to the templates: toflyfish.com/enrico-puglisi-shad-baitfish-pattern-saltwater-bass/
Thanks!
What type of hook is this?
Hey Zayd, here's the full recipe, thanks! toflyfish.com/enrico-puglisi-shad-baitfish-pattern-saltwater-bass/
What hook is that
Hey TXO, here's the link to the recipe: toflyfish.com/enrico-puglisi-shad-baitfish-pattern-saltwater-bass/ It's a Gamakatsu 294, which doesn't exist anymore if I'm not mistaken. I bought a bunch of them. You might be able to find some somewhere. Good luck!
What's EP fiber?
Hey, Ronald. EP fiber is a synthetic fiber for fly tying. It is short for "Enrico Puglisi" fiber. Enrico Puglisi is a fly tyer and owner. He has hundreds of different flies and materials. Thanks!
@@toflyfish just got some different colors in from Amazon. Cool stuff.
How do I buy one
This specific pattern is not for sale to the best of my knowledge. Just a pattern I've used. Sorry!
where I live I catch the most bass with wolly buggers. Papa
Depends on the species, but I've caught hundreds of bass on buggers as well. This pattern is really good for true bass and when smallmouth or largemouth are on shad.
Will be upside down riding in the water
Hi, if that is a question, yes indeed it will ride hook point up. The weight causes it to turn over. Thanks!
@@toflyfish is that better for streamers like this?
@@iklink It can be better in heavy cover, but with this hook, a jig hook, the fly tracks better and has a nice action. I also have great success, hooking bass with this type of a hook. For trout, pike, and a few other species, I almost never use jig hooks.
Yep and it wont matter much and better for less snag anyway
How can i buy some
Hey Greg, these are custom. I don't commercial tie anymore, but Enrico Puglisi has some similar looking patterns, but nothing with the jig hook and weight like that. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Thanks!
