    I'm a snake keeper and hobby breeder and I've always tried to do something for my snakes as I quickly got off the "they don't need anything but the basics, the keeper is doing it for themselves" mentality bandwagon. There is a lot more to these animals than they have been given credit for. I felt vindicated when I stumbled upon Lori's channel and I am embracing it. I have always tried to produce not only healthy animals, but mentally and emotionally confident animals. Going into my 4th breeding year I'm making plans to really ramp up the enrichment aspect and promote it at expos along with my snakes.

      Absolutely, enrichment is so so so important to happy and healthy snakes! Good luck in the new year!

    Lori is so great, so glad you had her on. Because of her channel I gave my snake an exercise tent and started target training, she has great snake enrichment ideas!

    Thank you so much for including Lori Torrini in your enrichment videos! Learning from her has not only transformed the way I keep my animals, but has also resulted in demonstrable, consistent, positive changes in behavior in my snakes. They are more confident, outgoing, and interactive, which is definitely enjoyable for both them and me.
    I just wanted to add that I do provide substrate choices for my snakes - not surprisingly, it's the terrestrial snakes and my fossorial snakes who are most interested in this. My sand boas enjoy sand/soil mixes, fine aspen chips like the Zilla snake and lizard litter, and the ground walnut shell substrate. I have also found that the sand boas all love to climb, so don't forget branches for them!

      We are so happy your snakes are living an enriched life! We'll have to try providing some branches for our sand boa too!

    My ackie monitor went off insects for a while and to get him back on target i used fluckers can o insert insect. I would just leave them in nooks and crannies around his enclosure at night and when he woke up he would destroy them. Then I started adding live insects the same way and now hes a little velociraptor. No bug left alive even the canned ones he re kills 😂.

    I really like using reptile hammocks for my snakes in order to provide them with an enriched environment. I’ve seen reptile hammocks in Gotta Love Carpet Pythons and Lori Torrini’s channels, and I decided to try them out! Great choice for my snakes! Also, just repurposing cardboard boxes for enrichment out of their enclosures is a great way to save money! Great topic ladies 👍🏼

    I totally agree with everything beside the cricket music, 1 dident sound good maby rain sounds when spraying enclosure, but what do I know ain't got any lizards either but my spiders & snakes don't hear the same way and I don't like the sound frequencies to enhance enrichment.

    Enrichment ideas for bearded dragons??? Would a bigger wheel work like for the geckos????

    • @zenhabitats
      @zenhabitats  Před rokem

      We highly recommend puzzle feeders or bug balls, if your bearded dragon is highly food motivated! You could absolutely try a bigger wheel for your beardie, although from what we found they sort of just sit there on the wheel! 🤣

    I'd be careful redoing the encloser because this can stress iguanas out to much. Make small changes
