The Nagarhole ecosystem supports the highest density of herbivores anywhere in Asia with around 108 animals per sq km. In addition to large herbivores such as the Chital, Sambar, Gaur, Asian Elephant and more, Nagarhole also boasts a large number of predators including the Tiger, Leopard and Wild dog. You will be able to see them during your Kabini safari if you are lucky.
A highlight of the Nagarhole park is the largest congregation of Asian Elephants in the world, which occur during the summer months. The visitor can also look forward to bird watching, what with over 300 species of birds recorded in the region
Kabini forest reserve is one of the best wildlife destination in Karnataka mainly because of its accessibility, rich green vegetation, water body and possibility of the animal spotting like herds of Elephants, Tiger and Black Leopard. An eighty km drive from Mysore or 205 kms drive from Bengaluru makes the accessibility much more easier for people from Karanataka and people from Kerala
Kabini wildlife safari offers xcellent sightings. Tigers (close ups) , black panther, elephants and lots of spotted deer. But once again it’s merely a matter of luck. Here in this video we were lucky to get backwater female, a beautiful tigress near Kabini backwater area.
The best time of the year to visit Kabini or Nagarhole for animal sighting would be Jan-May. However, visiting the forests anytime earlier comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Advantages being, a lot of animals/birds like the mongoose can be predominantly seen in the monsoon months close to the tracks. Tiger/leopard cubs, elephant & wild buffalo Calf, Deer calves can be seen during mostly during the monsoon.
In the dry months, animals mostly come out in search of water and spotting them then is easier.

കബിനി ചതികില്ലാ. I had been to kabini this October 6 and 7th. Took an evening safari on 6th and morning safari on 7th. Both the time I spotted tiger along with elephants, bisons, deers, mongooses, dhola, and so on. This is my second trip to Kabini. My first sighting of tiger was also at Kabini.
I was constant visitor at the Nanachi and Veerahosanahalli of Nagarhole but never could spot a big cat at those safaris.

@@saswatiacharya2628 Opt for bus safari during weekdays, for 610/person you would get up to 2.5 hours of safari compared to 1.5 hours safari during weekends. Since it is monsoon undergrowth is thick. Summer months undergrowth will be less. But as recommended by Dot Green if you don't get sighting on your first safari you may repeat per convenience. Try to go for both morning and evening safaris to increase the probability.
