You know there is also a short novel by the great Leo Tolstoy (written after Beethoven's time) also titled "The Kreutzer Sonata". I read it over 40 years ago. Talks about a couple and their married life.

I have not listened to this piece for decades, but the music seems quite familiar. In our old apartment downtown, there is a violin my father used to play, in its case, but in bad shape. He was an amateur, who was taught to play by Antonis (Anthony), an uncle of my mother's. But he apparently played quite well. In his funeral, a friend of his I never met, a former policeman, made a sort of a funny comment that he played so well, he must have been a communist. I am not exactly sure what the hell he meant.
My father was redbaited because he had a beard at Bell Telephone Laboratories in the fifties. Later they apologized and took him back. He was in the navy in the second world War.
What a wonderful arrangement. Who has done this? Excellent performance
