- Fashion designer Carolina Herrera started her business at age 40, and has now created a billion dollar empire. Herrera sat down with "CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell to discuss designing for runway shows, first ladies and Lady Gaga.

She became a good wife, then a good mother and finally an outstanding designer. Besides all the privileges she might have had, she clearly put a lot of dedication and hard work to build this strong brand. Congratulations and respect to her.👏👏👏

This word "work" as it applies to a number of endeavors: music, art, fashion, et cétera -- needs to be addressed. "Work" per se is simply "effort." As such, all of human effort is worthy and dignified. 🏆
Love Carolina Herrera but I think wasn't too hard for her to begin in the fashion industry at 42. She was already very wealthy and her husband was the Vanity Fair's editor at that time.
She is gifted.
She may have been privileged, and that may have opened doors, but it doesn’t mean you will succeed in a cut throat business for decades. She has been highly rated and successful from her first collection. Daddy’s money won’t buy you that.
I'm from Venezuela and trust me, she was born super wealthy, surrounded by very influential people, but we can't deny she has talent :) and a gift for what she does

she's my idol. age is not an excuse. Coming from a third world country is not an excuse. If you have a dream you can make it happend.
She comes from an aristocratic family. Her ancestors came from Spain and Italy. What else could u expect?

HER COUNTRY IS A: COUNTRY IN DEVELOPMENT(DURING THE 50´S AND 60´S THE ECONOMY OF VENEZUELA WAS AT THE SAME LEVEL AS THE USA.). SHE COULD MAKE HER DREAM COME TRUE EITHER IN NYC, AS IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN EUROPE.
Her country wasn’t poor when she was born Venezuela was a rich country not too long ago. Venezuela started going downhill not even 15 years ago her family was rich even before she was rich
