  • Terry Wogan was one of the most popular UK radio DJs throughout the last 40-50 years, with millions of listeners and devoted fans for his daily music programme. He was always alert to new talent (he was largely responsible for bringing the voice of Eva Cassidy to the attention of British listeners). So when the Brighouse & Rastrick Brass band released a version of The Floral Dance, he promoted it heavily on his show, gradually beginning to sing more and more of the lyrics along with it. Eventually, his fans were demanding that he record it! Here's the result ....

    Sir Terry's voice still inexplicably makes me tearful. He was such a gentle, pure, cheeky full of double enendres. "King Deadly" I still revere this incredible human. xxx

      We could never forget our Terry! Janet and John and his endless poking fun at Eurovision. Priceless!

      I agree. He was a diamond. Funny without trying.

    Growing up in Brighouse, a tune that made me cringe through my teenage years, but now makes me look back with fondness to a simpler time.

      @@sunryse111 I enjoyed it. But I don't think it hit the USA Top 40. 1978, had some great music. Love to be 23 yrs old and have my long hair. After 4 years of "High & Tight" haircuts in the Marine Corps, boy I let my hair grow..... I probably told you the "Hair" story before.

      There was a number 2 instrument version of this by the gastric warehouse band which I preferred

    This version was recorded with Hanwell Band from London , not Brighouse and Rastrick .

      @sunryse111  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Correct. And I apologise if my "liner notes" gave the wrong impression. He did sing along to the Brighouse & Rastrick version but sang with a different ensemble when he went into the recording studios.
