I have heard somewhere the theory that the Elder Wand already changed its allegiance to Dumbledore during the duel where Ariana died. Grindelwald had it there already, Ariana defeated Grindelwald and Dumbledore was the one who casted the curse that unintentionally killed her so the Elder Wand turned its allegiance to him there and then. And Dumbledore avoided to face Grindelwald for so long because he feared to find out that the Elder Wand was already his which would confirm his greatest fear that he indeed was the one who had casted the deadly curse that killed Ariana.

Interesting theory, but in Chapter 35, "King's Cross", of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Dumbledore tells Harry that he had heard tell that Grindelwald had "procured a wand of immense power" in the years after he had known him but before their legendary duel. During the two months that Dumbledore & Grindelwald were friends, neither of them knew the location of any of the three Hallows, including the Elder Wand. Grindelwald tracked down Gregorivich and stole the wand after leaving Godric's Hollow.

Your theory works well. We also have to remember that Unicorns and Thestrals are somewhat opposites. If Unicorn Hair wands are the most faithful and loyal (according to canon), Thestral hair would make a very disloyal wand. However, we should remember that Thestral can not be seen -even by Wizards -who have not witnessed/understood death. This quirk would make it quite powerful.
Moreover, the elder wand is similar to Voldemort's wand. Yew wood is said to toxic and poisonous: "yew (Taxus cuspidata) is known to be one of the most poisonous woody plants in the world, with all components of the tree, excepting the fleshy red part of the berry containing lethal amounts of taxine, a toxic alkaloid found in the yew."
When combined with a Phoenix feather, you get the best of both worlds. You get the poisonous nature of Yew, as well as the eternal (Healing) life of the Phoenix. That is why Voldy could heal Pettigrew's wounds so easily, and cast the Killing course with the same ease.

Another reason is the characteristic trait of Accepting Death, those who know and understand that death is part of nature and embraces it. Not wanting to die but when it come for u, u won't try to avoid it at all cost like Voldemort. In my theory, the Deathly Hallows were made by Death, Dumbledore knew 'A LOT' but he didn't know everything. To bridge between science and myth. Death didn't bestow the wand it's power, he crafted it, so science would b that and myth is the maker. With Harry forsaking the wand in the books (braking in the movie), The Death Stick says to itself "I choose wrong". Fantastic Beast 3 is in July 2022, I was hoping for this fall, now we gotta wait longer. New videos of Interview with the Vampire Dean. R u also gonna bring in the film Queen of the Damned there? Grindelwald was master of the Elder Wand until his final duel with Dumbledore
Somehow despite the fact Grindelwald was supposed to be invincible with the Elder Wand, Dumbledore won
Something must have happened that changed its allegiance before or during the duel
The Secrets of Dumbledore ending (without giving spoilers) may actually give a clue on that
For the Elder Wand May change alliegance as simple as having itself stolen like how Grindelwald stolen it from Gregorvitch as a young man
Or how Draco Malfoy unknowingly won alliegeance as simply disarming Dumbledore, even though he wasn’t trying to fight Draco
Or Harry winning alliegance from taking Draco’s Wand at duel of Malfoy Manor even though the Elder Wand wasn’t present at the fight
It’s loyalty is fickle so an incident like that may have Grindelwald lost the Wand’s loyalty to him

Consider this. What if the elder wand lies outside wand lore? What if the elder wand shows loyalty to those who possess Peverall blood? The wand may have betrayed Grindelwald because Dumbledore may be more closely related to the Peverell family than Grindelwald. If the elder wand is a family heirloom and shows more loyalty to someone who possesses more family blood, then maybe it never bonded to Voldemort because he had so very little of his soul left. In addition Harry possessed two other deathly hallows which are also inheritances from the Peverell family. This would mark him and prove to the wand that he has a stronger blood bond to the magical item and therefore the wand would obey Harry over Voldemort

I think that the reason why no one can create another wand like the Elder Wand, is that Antioch cursed the combination in wand lore, making it impossible to create more. It would an incredible difficult curse to cast but we know that Elder Wand can do extraordinary things and do things that other wands couldn't do (like repair Harry's wand). And seeing the nature of the wand, it isn't really something it wouldn't do.

I heard the wand wasn't all that powerfull when Antioch created it. It may have been a little more powerful than most wands, but it wasn't extrodinary. Antioch was just a very skilled wizard. The reason the wand is so powerful because it has so many owners and it learns the magic from all their previous owners. So over so many years it learned from all of it's masters making it more powerful. All wands a re actually capable of this. Wands are almost like sentient beings and can learn magic, but most wands don't get passed from wizard to wizard but are buried with their original owner.

I just don't like how Harry gains the Elder Wand's allegiance in the story. Why would the Elder Wand care if someone took a completely different wand from its owner? I mean, he didn't even take it by magic. He just grabbed it and pulled it out of Draco's hand. That's not the mark of a powerful wizard. Any muggle could've done it.
If I were writing/rewriting the "Half-Blood Prince" I would have Draco pick up the Elder Wand after Dumbledore's death just before leaving the Astronomy Tower. I'd just have him pick it up, and then have Harry remove the wand from Draco during his escape from Hogwarts, during the "Flight of the Prince". It needn't be a big duel or a big scene at all, just have Harry take it or knock it from Draco's hand before he is able to escape with it. That's it. That's all. Even a quick "expelliarmus", while Harry is running and chasing Snape & Draco, would do it. At that point, no one knew that it was the Elder Wand, the so-called "Death Stick" and "Wand of Destiny". It was just Dumbledore's wand, and Harry would've seen to it that the wand was buried with Dumbledore just as it was in the book & movie. After that, events could've played out exactly as they did with no further changes.
Harry is certainly a more powerful wizard than Draco Malfoy. There's no question about that, but having the Elder Wand switch its allegiance to him simply because Harry managed to disarm Draco by ripping his wand -- a completely different wand -- out of his hand while the Elder Wand was still in Dumbledore's tomb was one of the very few not so well thought out aspects of the "Harry Potter" story, in my opinion anyway.

Harry's Cloak of Invisibility isnt the only one out there. But it is the only one who's enchantment is permanent. Other Cloaks lose their ability over time but Harry's has been passed down for hundreds of years without losing strength.
So I think all three of the brothers made their respective Hallows via a lost method they discovered. Thus why their artifacts are to powerful and unique.

I believe the Peverell brothers did create the Hallows. It proves the theory more true as Dumbledore also created his own inventions. It is just that the 3 artifacts gained such powerful reputation that they are known as the Deathly Hallows. The reason why I think Death is used here is to express that the Hallows causes death or evades death in a certain way. The Elder Wand causes death, Resurrection stone brings back the dead and Invisibility cloak protects you from it. Either way I dont think these 3 artifacts was called Deathly Hallows firstly. They might of been the Peverell projects at first but when each died then it was known as the Deathly Hallows because of its reputation. The reason why I believe it was created was because of the Resurrection stone. Its not the first time a magical stone was made and the Invisibility cloak too. The Elder Wand I would of believed was something of Death but then again its a enchanted wand created to be the most powerful.

Perhaps the wand was influenced by Death itself, in recompense for the souls it was denied. The wand draws powerful wizards in an compels them perform murderous acts to obtain it, hence supplying Death with the craved souls. The Elder Wand also had a similar temperament to that of the The One Ring.

I really like this theory it’s almost like a fusion of wand lore and Thor’s hammer enchantment detecting “worthiness”. I disagree! The deathly hallows was given as a reward to TRICK the three brothers into thinking they cheated death so that Death can gain their souls another way. The elder wand although powerful is not dependent on the qualities a certain person holds, but holds true to its purpose, to trick the possessor into thinking they can overcome death.

The wand choose the wizard according to the plot that good will always triumph over evil. Sure we can trace it to other mythologies, but the fact remains that the elder wand is meant to be used for good until death takes the user for another purpose of the wand to be used to preserve good.

The accepten6ce of defeat could be a trigger for a wand to change loyalty if its then taken by the winner.
I also dont think just because it accepts a new owner means it wont accept its original one anymore. But would rebel if used against the previous victor again.

Useless Wand rather than Elder Wand.
If your theory is true, then
Anytime the owner is fighting someone less power than the owner it works but isn’t needed because the opponent is less power. So Useless , as a regular wand would be enough for the owner to win .
When you need it is when you dual against an equal, for an advantage,
Or an opponent more power than the owner, allowing the owner to level up and win.
But in both cases it withdraws it’s power, thus making the Wand Useless.

Very cool video! I will say that there is one correction I have to your assertion on woods in folklore, and what you say about woods in the HP universe not usually having magic and needing a core to be magical. We know from Ollivanders notes that this isn’t true; all the wand woods he uses for wands, and which other wandmakers use, must come from rare magical trees which produce magic wood. Also, almost all of the wand woods, if not all, that Ollivander lists are rich in mythology and in magic lore, and considered magical in UK mythology or the mythology of their region. For example, just look into Holly and Oak in Druidic mythology, or Hawthorn and Blackthorn in English mythology. Very rich in stories of their protective holy or magical qualities. Every wand wood listed that I’ve researched has folklore and legends about its properties and power, some of which JK seems like she researched to inspire the wands qualities. Elder is one of these woods rich in lore, but not the only or the most famous one.

It changes allegiance so often because it's true owner is Death, so it's trying to get back into Death's hand again. It's like the Harry Potter equivalent of Sauron's ring. Yes, anyone can use it, but in the end it seeks it's actual master and will betray any who aren't just that. It's actial master. The ring's master is Sauron. The Elder Wand's master is Death. Both are seeking their rightful owner.
