She buys them at orchid/flower events or local shops that sell orchids. Yea she used to stick to like just two colors until she started to collect and grow her own.

Your mom collection is very beautiful.These orchids cannot grow in my country because we have a tropical climate. It is very hot throughout the year I think these orchids need a cold spell in order to bloom.

Well usually its around 68-75 degrees but sometimes can reach 80-100 on summer days here where I live and is usually like that all year around except for fall/winter nights but the fall/winter daytime sun is good enough to give some warmth until night time comes in basically. My mom hasn't really had a hard time with the orchids unless it rains for days and is cold. That's about it.
Maybe you can make a vid of your mom repotting and describing how she grows her cyms, unless you can get her to have her own CZcams channel where she can talk to us about her orchids. I'm sure she would get a lot of followers.
Oh, fantastic. I live in So Cal too. So there is hope for my cyms too. You said she repots in soil. Could you find out specifically what potting medium and fertilizer she uses? It would benefit my cyms greatly.
Retired Stitcher little of peat Moss, little perlite, little medium bark, and little of phagnum Moss. Mixed all together. That's how I plant my cymbidium too. I lived in southern California, I have a shade house full of orchids, but I didn't get to video it, now it's not a blooming season for cymbidium until spring. I will post a video. If you plan to plant in soil, make sure don't water too much, use potting mixed soil, don't use compost soil. I don't like using soil, easy attract insect and slug and worms.
