- Welcome to Paseo Miramar, my vote for road of the year 2020. I know it's early to cast that ballot, but this is a real special one. And besides, we're all stuck indoors right now so who's going to complain?
We start off on a ridiculously steep gravel section of the road and it's hard to pick a good line when the views are this good. The second half is a sealed through the neighbourhood but that doesn't mean it gets any tamer. There are enough hairpins to give me a new hairstyle.

Pacific Palisades is on your left. Santa Monica is a bit beyond. I’ve cycled this road hundreds of times in the 1970s and 1980s on my one-speed Schwinn. Never as fast as you though!

Haven't been down that fire road in years (decades)! Ruts used to be wayyyy deeper.

I know what you mean about the limb up, "Probably the last time I'll do this." There are a couple of fire roads that just go straight up and cannot be ridden. Even hike-a-bike is too hard. One time up is all it takes to learn the lesson.
So steep. Didn't help that I went up there with flat pedals after shooting the Backbone Trail video just before 🤪. Then my gimbal broke and I couldn't even film the descent!

man, you should reset all your camera settings to default because the quality of the image is very poor, it lacks sharpness and contrast and saturation is way too much

Also the camera angle made the corner look a lot more blind than it was from his angle so it was reasonably safe

Safa is always chill. Pedestrians walking two abreast on a narrow section of dirt road not moving over to let someone pass more safely... they're the ones not giving a fuck about anyone or anything around them.

I feel for my Euro bike-riding compatriots who can't get outside. I would have gone completely insane if I couldn't ride outside during this pandemic. Is there any evidence that draconian, forced lockdowns are doing anything compared to the "carry on" Swedish approach or the intermediate American approach?
None whatsoever. Sweden and Brazil with no lockdown and similar numbers to the rest. India with 1 billion people and only about 1,000 deaths!
@@murcielago188 India's number is not representative. They cannot afford test to any meaningful extent. Sweden (did close schools and many businesses working from home) has a per capita death rate higher than Norway and Denmark and five times higher than Canada. Netherlands and Belgium are some of the worst after Italy.
