    Nice one. I've an etz250 since 1986, still drive it after 320.000 km and bulletproof. Best bike ever made in history
    Recently bought a 1978 TS/1. lovely bike and 12 v electronic ignotion. Nice bike yours only I don't like the side cases, I prefer a vintage tankbag on those bikes.

      I bought one & had to get the motor stripped because it had stood for ten years unused and the crankseals had dried out.
      The mechanic assessed the friction surfaces with a view to replacing bits that needed doing while the engine was apart and found everything to be nigh-on perfect. That was with 48,000 miles up. F reg ETZ 243cc. I geared it down to 12mph/1,000 rpm in top for more zip without affecting economy. I've got a 1978 TS 150 too. Love em both.

    I had two ETZs and two TS 250/1s - the front brake on the TS was its Achilles heel, also the 6v electrics were not too reliable - the ETZ disc brake was superb and it had a 12v electrical system - in theory it should have been a no brainer, but the style of the TS was so distinctive , whereas the ETZ's tank looked somewhat awkward and the wheelbase was much longer, also 55mpg on the ETZ was poor in comparison with the TS's 80+mpg. My ideal bike was a TS with 12v electrics, electronic ignition and twin leading shoe/disc front brake. The toolbox position in the TS was poor design - it made pillion riding agonising for anything over an hour - or so I am told. Your TS is just perfect! Starting was OK once the technique had been learned - fuel on, half choke, no ignition - two kicks. Ignition on, and third kick nearly always started them. The sound was great in comparison to screaming Japanese twins - a nice slow, deep, mellow one.

      What front sprocket are you running? My etz had a 19 and felt overgeared (70mph@5250 rpm) , now it's very zippy with a 17 (70@6000rpm) prob a bit TOO zippy. 18 is best imo.

    I've gottan ETZ 250 with three box luggage and a full vape system. I've spemt a bomb making it as good as possible with the one addition from the TS than was actually better than on the ETZ version. I bet you don't know what Im talking about....
    ..... In fact the clocks with big numbers and no marked-off increments were the best clocks ever fitted to ANY bike EVER

    • @charnwoodmoto2496
      @charnwoodmoto2496  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi - I managed to source a CB350 complete front wheel, brake and plate from a fellow MZer for around £35 (worth joining the MZ Riders club for this alone). To fit the honda wheel/TLS brake, you have to swap the fork legs left to right (as the Honda torque arm and brake assy are on opposite sides to the MZ - dead easy and you can use the MZ torque arm as a straight swap on the RH side). The MZ wheel spindle is the same width and length but you will need to fit new spacers of the correct ID/width either side (plenty available on EBay etc). The difference in performance is night and day.....and the drum keeps the "Traditional" look that a disc conversion doesn't. Good luck with the resto!
