He even sang a riff of Ellen's name! Plus, the "Take You Dancing" singer talked about becoming a massive TikTok star over quarantine, and working with Will Smith and BTS.

It's not only that obviously, but it's true that they are a big deal because of the fandom and good marketing techniques. It doesn't mean they are not good or that they don't work their *ss off, but there are many artists out there making incredible music and doing amazing performances that don't get (and will never get) as much exposure as BTS. The music industry is comprised by artists but is first and foremost a business, it's obvious that people are going to do collaborations with "hot artists". At leat I appreciate Derulo's candor: he is a pop/hip hop American man in his thirties, the chances he would look into Kpop music on his own are abysmal, so at leat he admitted that he didn't know of BTS's fame up until he saw how much following they had
